The high seating is a boon and will put you at immediate ease in the car. Options that meet your requirements within a Rs 10 lakh budget include the Hyundai Exter, Tata Punch and Citroen C3. The Tata Punch offers more of what you need. It's got the widest cabin (though it's still not ideal as a 5-seater) and packs in all the features that you need, and then a whole lot more. The Citroen C3 makes a compelling case for itself with the best engines, well-sorted ride and handling, and the cabin experience is also vastly improved with the recent feature update. However, it's not quite as roomy as the Punch, and Citroen's service network is also not as widespread as Tata or Hyundai's.The Hyundai Exter is an easy-going option that's also worth a look.

Given your requirements, you could shortlist Skoda Kushaq Classic+, Citroen Aircross X Max and Honda Elevate V MT. All of these are excellent options with powerful engines in a Manual car. The Kushaq has been updated recently, and its entry-level Classic+ variant covers the basics well, and is the most affordable of the bunch. The Citroen car that we have mentioned has an excellent turbo-petrol engine, and the nicest ride quality. It is also gives you the option of seven seats at this price. The Elevate is a no-nonsense SUV with a strong, high-revving naturally aspirated petrol engine and an excellent ride-handling balance. We'd recommend you drive all three and pick the one that meets all your requirements.

The Volkswagen Virtus, while impressive, will not fit in your budget apart from the base variant, which isn't too impressive. You can expect the Volkswagen Virtus mileage to be around 9 to 12 kpl in the city and 15 to 18 kpl on the highway.The Citroen Basalt X will be a good pick out of this lot. It has a punchy turbo-petrol engine that is lovely to drive, the ride comfort is excellent, and it has a large boot as well. Also, while it is feature-packed, it isn't unnecessarily complicated, and the functions are easy to use. The Basalt X would be our recommendation.

Go for the Citroen Aircross X 5-seater automatic. This Citroen car is a genuinely comfortable long-distance car with a spacious cabin and a very absorbent ride. The discounts make it excellent value, and you are getting a larger, more comfortable car for the same money as a smaller SUV like the Kylaq or Venue. Citroen's service network is not as extensive as Maruti, Hyundai or Kia, but it is improving, and the Aircross X is not a complex car. If you are in a major city, service and parts availability should not be a deal-breaker. The Kylaq and Venue are both good cars, but they are smaller and less comfortable on long highway runs. The Aircross X is the better fit for your usage and budget.

The Citroen C3 X is a sensible choice for your requirements. It is compact, easy to drive and has a relatively upright seating position, which helps with bonnet visibility.
