Volkswagen Taigun facelift: What to expect?
Could get a Tayron-like front-end and larger driver's display

Test mules of the left-hand drive Taigun facelift were spied nearly undisguised, showcasing what its exterior could look like. The prototype featured sleeker LED headlights connected by a DRL with an illuminated VW badge, which is reminiscent of the Tayron R Line. An updated grille, front and rear bumpers and revised detailing for the LED tail-lamp were also spotted.

On the inside, expect the Taigun to get newer trim materials and an updated colour scheme. The feature set could mirror the Kushaq, which includes a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, a larger 10.25-inch driver's display, powered and ventilated front seats, and a new panoramic sunroof. Also, the air conditioning performance could see an improvement with a new variable-geometry compressor. It is yet to be seen if Volkswagen offers the rear seat massaging function like on its Skoda counterpart.

New 8-speed torque converter for 1.0 petrol engine likely

The Taigun facelift will retain the same engines as the current version. This includes the 115hp, 178Nm, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and the 150hp, 250Nm, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines. The latter is mated with only a 7-speed DCT gearbox, while the former is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. While the current version’s 1.0-litre turbo-petrol also offers a 6-speed automatic gearbox, the facelifted version could swap it for a new 8-speed unit as seen on the Kushaq facelift.
