I'm a Female, 5'1", small built, currently drive a Venue (Turbo) automatic, and a Wagon R. I'm looking for a mid size Petrol SUV, 1.5 L turbo, automatic for highway drives, safety (gncap) being my first priority (will retain venue for city driving). Some days I tend to drive 4-5 hrs without a break on Highways. 20-21L on road is my budget. ADAS 2, ambient lighting, illuminated buttons, hill assist, a great music system and seat and seatbelt height adjustments are a must too apart from all other features that I've got in my Venue. (My amazing Venue has never failed me, even in steep hilly terrains of HP and Uttarakhand or dry, scorching highways of Haryana, UP, 200-250 km nonstop with absolutely no engine heating, and that's what I expect from my new car too- never get me stranded ever; ) Love Harrier, hate tata dealerships; love xuv 7xo, hate Mahindra; Love Victoris, hate its rear styling; At present I'm left with Taigun, Seltos and Creta. Is there any SUV that fits my requirements? Thank you. P.S (some other cars I've driven long term are Indica, Indigo XL, Fiat Palio, Ford Figo, Grand Vitara 2010 (imported) etc.) No.of passengers-3- all small built.)

I want to decide on an SUV purchase between the Honda Elevate, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and Grand Vitara. I value good features but no ADAS. Lower maintenance is also important. Please suggest in order of merit.

In terms of lowest maintenance, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will top the list. It doesn’t come with ADAS at all, so you can opt for the top Alpha+ variant with all the bells and whistles and still skip ADAS. If you choose the strong hybrid version, it delivers superb fuel efficiency in the city, while all versions have a comfortable ride and spacious cabin.Among your other picks, the Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq also don’t get ADAS and are otherwise well-equipped, particularly the newly facelifted Kushaq, though maintenance may be a bit more expensive. The Honda Elevate gets ADAS on the top ZX variant, which means you will have to opt for the VX and miss out on some other features. For your needs, the Grand Vitara is the best fit, but do test drive all these cars before making a decision.

A 360-degree camera on the facelifted Volkswagen Taigun is highly unlikely. The recently revealed facelift of its sister model, the Skoda Kushaq, does not get a 360-degree camera either. Since both cars share the same platform and usually have almost identical feature sets, it is unlikely that Volkswagen will introduce that feature only on the Taigun.What the Taigun facelift is more likely to get are the same updates seen on the Kushaq. These could include features such as rear seat massage, a panoramic sunroof, Google Gemini integration in the infotainment system and a larger 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster.Apart from these feature additions, the core mechanical package with the 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo petrol engines is expected to remain unchanged.

My family owns a 2022 Honda WR-V petrol and we are planning to upgrade our car. It will be mostly used in the city and mainly driven by my parents. I am confused between the VW Taigun 1.0 petrol, Honda Elevate, and Tata Curvv, and I am not so sure about the Kia Syros or the newer Victoris. My main concerns are safety, balanced features, and maintenance. Please advise which car I should choose.

Since you've already owned a Honda car, you might like what the Elevate has to offer. Its ride comfort is its highlight; the high seating will make it easy for your parents to get in and out, and its petrol engine delivers strong performance. The Honda Elevate price starts at Rs. 11.80 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).The Volkswagen Taigun is smaller in size, which makes it a bit easier to park and manoeuvre. The Taigun price starts at Rs 11.00 lakh (ex-showroom). However, it doesn't feel as user-friendly as the Honda, since the manual's clutch is a touch heavier, and the automatic isn't as seamless as the Elevate's either. Since you're not keen on the Maruti Victoris or Kia Syros, you can also consider the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder price is Rs. 11.31 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
