Volkswagen Taigun facelift exterior design spied nearly undisguised

A test mule of the Volkswagen Taigun facelift has been spied in India with light camouflage, giving a clear view of its exterior design. The Taigun has been on sale in India since 2021 and an update is due to launch by mid-2026.

  1. Spy shots reveal connected LED DRLs and revised tail-lights
  2. Front and rear bumpers have also been redesigned
  3. Feature suite is expected to be similar to the Kushaq facelift

Notably, the test mule is a left-hand-drive model, which Volkswagen exports to overseas markets like Mexico as the T-Cross. The India-spec right-hand-drive model's styling is expected to be similar.

Volkswagen Taigun facelift spied: What could be spotted?

The test mule has Tiguan-like fascia and revised LED tail-lights.

The spy shots reveal sleek LED headlights joined by an LED light bar in the centre with an illuminated VW logo, reminiscent of the larger Tiguan and Tayron SUVs. The front grille is also new, with two chrome strips, but fog lamps seem to be missing.

Internals of the connected LED tail-lights also seem to be revised. The rear bumper is blacked out and features a chrome strip and reflectors. Other noticeable elements include silver roof rails and body-coloured outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs). A fresh set of alloy wheels could also be offered by the manufacturer with the Taigun facelift.

Volkswagen Taigun facelift: Other details

Interior design yet to be spotted; features expected to be similar to the Kushaq.

While the interior design is yet to be spotted, Volkswagen is likely to make it more modern to bring it up to speed with newer midsize offerings like the Tata Sierra and Kia Seltos. The feature suite is expected to be similar to the facelifted Skoda Kushaq, including a 10.2-inch infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, powered and ventilated front seats, auto AC, a panoramic sunroof and a wireless phone charger. It will be interesting to see whether Volkswagen borrows the Kushaq's segment-first massaging rear seats or not.

Save for a new automatic gearbox, engine options are expected to be the same.

Like the new Skoda Kushaq, the Volkswagen Taigun facelift is expected to continue with the same 115hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and 150hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine options. The 1.0-litre TSI is expected to feature the new 8-speed torque converter automatic from the Kushaq alongside the 6-speed manual, while the larger capacity engine is expected to continue with a 7-speed DCT only.

The Volkswagen Taigun facelift is expected to be priced at a small premium over the current model; prices currently range between Rs 10.58 lakh and Rs 19.19 lakh (ex-showroom). It will lock horns with midsize SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Tata Sierra, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq and the Renault Duster.
