On the other hand, the Bajaj Pulsar N250 on road price typically falls between ₹1.49 lakh and ₹1.62 lakh, depending on RTO, insurance, and various other factors. The Pulsar N250 price in India places it in direct competition with motorcycles, such as TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, Yamaha MT-15, Suzuki Gixxer 250, etc.

This Bajaj bike is powered by a 249.07cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled, fuel-injected engine. The engine produces 24.5 PS at 8750 rpm and 21.5 Nm of torque at 6500 rpm. As per ARAI, the Pulsar N250 mileage is around 44kpl (ARAI).

The Pulsar N250 was first launched in India in October 2021, and got a major upgrade in April, 2024. As part of this update, the earlier part-analog display was replaced with a fully digital LCD, similar to the one found on the Pulsar N160. Bajaj also introduced 37mm USD front forks, ride modes linked to ABS, and switchable traction control. While the overall design remained largely unchanged, the company added golden upside-down forks on two of the three Pulsar N250 colours.

Design and Quality

8.0

The Bajaj Pulsar N250 retains its familiar design with only subtle updates. The biggest visual change is the addition of a USD fork finished in champagne gold on select colour options. Bajaj has also introduced new red and white paint schemes, while the earlier copper finish on the engine covers has been replaced with gunmetal grey.

The new fully digital LCD display is a major update and now supports Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. However, the display is difficult to read in bright sunlight, and the single-button control system feels less intuitive and not very tactile to use.

Position and Comfort

9.0

The Pulsar N250 continues to focus on comfort along with everyday usability. The riding position feels comfortable for both city riding and short highway trips. In traffic, the bike feels manageable and easy to manoeuvre, although the turning radius feels slightly wide during sharp U-turns.

The suspension setup balances comfort well, remaining supple over bumps while still feeling controlled at highway speeds.

Performance and Fuel Economy / Range

9.0

The 249cc single-cylinder engine remains unchanged and continues to produce 24.1hp and 21.5Nm. The motor delivers good low-end performance and a strong mid-range, making city riding effortless. Gear shifts are very smooth, and the light clutch reduces effort in heavy traffic.

The five-speed gearbox is well spaced, although the engine lacks excitement at the top end. The N250 performs well for daily commuting and occasional highway rides, but it does not feel especially engaging on twisty roads.

Ride and Handling

8.0

The N250 offers a good balance of agility, stability and comfort. It feels nimble in city conditions and stable at higher speeds. The updated tyre width adds more visual presence, although the difference in handling is not very noticeable.

The brakes perform adequately, though they could have offered better bite and feedback for a sporty motorcycle.

Features and Safety

9.0

The updated N250 now gets Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and a fully digital LCD console. It also becomes the first 250cc motorcycle in its class to offer switchable traction control.

Dual-channel ABS is standard, and riders can choose between Road, Rain and Offroad ABS modes. Traction control remains active in Road and Rain modes and can only be switched off in Offroad mode.

Price and Verdict (Overall Rating)

9.0

The Pulsar N250 offers strong value for money, especially with the addition of new technology and safety features for only a small increase in price. While the LCD and switchgear could have been better, the bike remains a comfortable, capable and practical 250cc motorcycle.

My Pulsar N250 now gives 30-35.. before E20, i used to see mileage figures of 40-45. Even my Maruti Suzuki Brezza Petrol now only gives 13-15. I used to get around 18+ before.

Hi - I’ve been riding a 2014 Unicorn and now I’m looking to buy a new bike. Could you help me decide whether I should go for a 150 cc or a 350 cc model? I won’t be doing long rides very often - my weekly distance will be just about 10-12 km at most. I’m looking for something stylish, not the traditional Unicorn look. Here are some models I’m considering: the Royal Enfield Meteor 350, Honda CB350RS, Bajaj Pulsar N160 / Pulsar N250, and the TVS Apache RTR 160. Could you advise?

If you're not going to go on longer journeys often and want to stay in the same displacement range as your Unicorn, the Bajaj Pulsar N160 and TVS Apache RTR 160 4V will serve you well. If you want a small step up in terms of performance without sacrificing too much fuel economy, the Bajaj Pulsar N250, Honda Hornet 2.0 and Suzuki Gixxer 250 will fit the bill. You can also take a look at the KTM 160 Duke and Yamaha MT-15 because, while they have smaller displacement engines, they are liquid-cooled and offer punchy performance with great fuel economy. The more laidback Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and Honda CB350RS will definitely feel more special in their riding experience and fit & finish. Also, it will be significantly more expensive to buy and maintain compared to the aforementioned bikes.

Is Bajaj Pulsar 220F a good choice for daily commute of 50km?

Verified
•3d

In isolation, the Bajaj Pulsar 220F is a proven workhorse with a punchy engine, comfortable rider's traingle position and good highway stability, which makes it well-suited for longer daily runs. It is also relatively affordable to maintain and has a wide service network, which is important for a high-mileage commuter. That said, the 220F is now nearly 2 decades old and has only seen regulatory and minor feature-related updates since. It does not offer the refinement or modern features of newer-generation bikes in the segment. If your commute is mostly highway and you don't mind the old-school feel of the 220F, it can make sense for you. However, if you are looking for a more modern package with better refinement, consider Bajaj's own Pulsar N250, the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V or Honda Hornet 2.0 as similiarly-priced and comparable alternatives. Try to take a test ride of all four before you make your decision to see where your preferences lie.

I am thinking of getting a new bike after using a TVS Sport 100cc for almost 15 years. I have been interested in sports bikes since childhood, and now that I am settled, I am thinking of getting one. Earlier, I was considering the Kawasaki Ninja 300, but its price has recently increased while offering minimal features and high maintenance costs. For some time, I also considered the Ultraviolette F77, but I am still sceptical about its long-term reliability. The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 has always been on my mind, and I recently visited its showroom. I really like the colours of the SF 150 more than those of the 250, but I also don't want to miss out on the thrill of the 250. I am particularly interested in the SF 250 FFV variant, but it is available in only two colours, neither of which I find very appealing. I really like one of the colours offered on the SF 150, but it isn't available on the 250. I also came across the Suzuki GSX-8R, and it was love at first sight. Now I am wondering if Suzuki could launch a similar bike in the coming months. I am very confused. What should I do?

Verified

The Suzuki Gixxer models (both 150 and 250) are due to get a generation change soon and therefore, buying one of them right now would not be our recommendation. If you want something in a similar displacement and price bracket, then the Bajaj Pulsar N250 would be the closest match. The Hero Xtreme 250R is also a well-priced alternative that rides well and unlocks a whole new spectrum of performance, although Premia dealerships are quite few and far between currently.

Hi Autocar India Team, I would like to hear your suggestions for a new bike. I currently ride a 2012 Hero Splendor Plus, but it no longer suits my requirements. I ride about 100 km per day, of which 80 km is on the highway and the remaining 20 km is within the city. I am looking for a bike that offers a good balance of power and fuel efficiency, as it will be my daily commuter. It should also have a comfortable suspension so that I don't feel tired at the end of the day. I am 182 cm tall and well-built. Which bike would you recommend?

Verified
•11w

Since you have a long daily run, predominantly on the highway, we'd recommend you step up to something more powerful. Specifically, the Hero Xpulse 210 will be a good fit for your needs. It has great suspension, which will isolate you from the worst of our road imperfections; good performance on the highway and when ridden sensibly, it will also give you decent fuel economy. If you want to stick with a street-biased commuter, look at the Honda Unicorn and Bajaj Pulsar N160. These will feel more natural for you to ride and will return good fuel economy, although highway performance will be weaker than the Xpulse. The Pulsar N250 is also a good machine which would make sense for your use case.Take test rides of these bikes before you make your decision.
