Car sales in June were depressed compared to previous months, with most major carmakers recording a reduction in overall dispatches. The top 10 bestselling cars list in June also reflects this downturn, with only the Hyundai Creta posting an increase in sales compared to May’s figures. Without further digression, let’s see which models made it to the list of bestselling cars last month.

1. Hyundai Creta

15,786 units, up 6.23 percent month-on-month

The Hyundai Creta took the top spot in June 2025, with sales of 15,786 units, which is a 6.23 percent increase over May’s 14,860 units. However, compared to June last year, there has been a 3.11 percent decline. Do note that these figures include the petrol- and diesel-powered models, the Creta N Line and the Creta Electric. Its ICE versions, rivalling the Maruti Grand Vitara and Honda Elevate, are currently priced between Rs 11.11 lakh and 20.50 lakh, while the electric model, which takes on the Tata Curvv EV and Mahindra BE 6, ranges from Rs 17.99 lakh to Rs 24.38 lakh.

2. Maruti Dzire

15,484 units, down 14.38 percent month on month

While the Maruti Dzire was the bestselling car last month, its sales dropped a significant 14.38 percent from 18,084 units in May to 15,484 units in June. But compared to last June, there was a 15.37 percent increase. This compact sedan rivals the Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze and is available in petrol and CNG forms, with prices in the Rs 6.84 lakh-10.19 lakh range.

3. Maruti Brezza

14,507 units, down 6.80 percent month on month

Despite a 6.8 percent drop in sales compared to May, the Maruti Brezza still stands in third place, with sales of 14,507 units. It rivals the likes of the Tata Nexon and Hyundai Venue and posted year-on-year growth of 10.14 percent. Prices for the Brezza compact SUV, which is available in petrol and CNG variants, start at Rs 8.69 lakh and go up to Rs 13.98 lakh.

4. Maruti Ertiga

14,151 units, down 12.32 percent month on month

Maruti Ertiga ’s sales have also fallen on a month-on-month basis – 12.32 percent from 16,140 units in May 2025. Interestingly, the Ertiga recorded no increase or decrease in sales compared to June 2024, when the brand dispatched exactly 14,151 units. This popular MPV from Maruti rivals the Toyota Rumion and Kia Carens and is priced between Rs 8.97 lakh and Rs 13.26 lakh.

5. Maruti Swift

13,275 units, down 6.08 percent month on month

Sales of the Maruti Swift are down, regardless of whether one looks at the month-on-month or year-on-year figures. June 2025’s 13,275 units are a decline of 6.08 percent over May, and a notable 19.16 percent drop over June 2024’s 16,422 units. Maruti’s answer to the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios has a price tag that ranges between Rs 6.49 lakh and Rs 9.50 lakh, and like the rest of the company’s models, it comes with petrol and CNG powertrain options.

6. Maruti Wagon R

12,930 units, down 7.31 percent month on month

Like the only other Maruti small hatchback on this list, the Wagon R also recorded a decrease in sales figures, both month on month (7.31 percent) and year on year (6.24 percent). The Maruti Wagon R is a unique tall-boy hatchback that comes with two petrol engine options, along with a CNG powertrain to choose from. Prices for this Tata Tiago rival currently stand between Rs 5.79 lakh and Rs 7.50 lakh.

7. Mahindra Scorpio

12,740 units, down 11.53 percent month on month

Comprising the Mahindra Scorpio N and the Classic, the Scorpio brand sits in seventh place, with combined sales of 12,740 units. This is an 11.53 percent drop over May 2025’s 14,401 units, but a 3.52 percent increase over last June. While the Scorpio Classic is a diesel-only model, the Scorpio N gets petrol and diesel engine options. Prices for the Classic start at Rs 13.77 lakh and go up to Rs 17.72 lakh, while the Scorpio N costs between Rs 13.99 lakh and Rs 25.62 lakh; a recent update added a Level 2 ADAS suite on the top-spec Z8L variants.

8. Tata Nexon

11,602 units, down 11.41 percent month on month

The Tata compact SUV’s sales, which include the petrol, diesel, CNG and all-electric versions, are down 11.41 percent in June (11,602 units) from May’s 13,096 units and 3.85 percent from June 2024’s 12,066 units. The Tata Nexon competes against the Mahindra XUV 3XO and Kia Sonet and is now priced between Rs 8.00 lakh and Rs 15.60 lakh. The Nexon EV, priced from Rs 12.49 lakh to Rs 17.19 lakh, rivals the MG Windsor.

9. Tata Punch

10,446 units, down 20.46 percent month on month

Sales of Tata’s smallest SUV, the Punch, have dropped by over 20 percent in June to 10,446 units compared to May. In fact, from last June’s 18,238 units, the numbers plunged 42.72 percent. These include dispatches of the petrol and CNG Punch, along with the Punch EV. Prices for the Punch petrol and CNG variants range between Rs 6.20 lakh and Rs 10.32 lakh, while the all-electric Punch costs between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 14.14 lakh.

10. Maruti Fronx

9,815 units, down 27.75 percent month on month

Maruti’s other compact SUV, the Fronx, rounds off the top 10 list for June 2025. With sales of 9,815 units, the Maruti Fronx recorded a consequential month-on-month decline of 27.75 percent. However, this number is still a minor 1.31 percent increase over last June’s sales of 9,688 units. The Fronx competes against the likes of the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger and is currently priced between Rs 7.55 lakh and Rs 12.91 lakh.
