The year-end typically sees a lot of carmakers introducing heavy discounts and enticing offers on their current model year cars (in this case, 2019 model year) in an attempt to clear stocks. The automotive sector has faced a major slowdown this year, with the market only registering a slight upswing in terms of sales in the recent festive season. Volkswagen is hoping to boost sales and end this year on a high note with these discounts. We have compiled a list of all the benefits being offered by the German carmaker.

Volkswagen Tiguan

Save up to Rs 3.50 lakh
The Tiguan is Volkswagen’s only premium SUV offering in our market, and it is a well-put-together SUV with impressive long-distance cruising ability. Volkswagen offers the Tiguan with a single engine-gearbox combination – a 143hp, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-diesel engine paired to a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. Dealers are offering benefits and discounts of up to Rs 3.60 lakh on both the Comfortline and Highline trim levels. In terms of rivals, the SUV competes with other premium soft-roaders like the Honda CR-VHyundai Tucson and Skoda Kodiaq.

Volkswagen Vento

Save up to Rs 2.45 lakh
Volkswagen recently gave the Vento midsize sedan a facelift, which brought with it some minor tweaks to the exterior styling and some additional features. The carmaker also introduced a GT Line trim which got some sporty cosmetic additions. The Vento comes with three engine options – a 105hp, 1.6-litre petrol engine, a 105hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, and a 110hp, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine. Competitors for the Vento include the Skoda RapidHyundai VernaHonda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Dealers across the country are offering the 2019 model year Vento with massive discounts of up to Rs 2.45 lakh on the diesel variants and up to Rs 1.30 lakh on the petrol variants. It is also worth noting that the MY 2020 cars are also being offered with marginally lower discounts – though only on the Highline and TSI petrol variants – while the diesel models get discounts on the Comfortline and Highline trims.

Volkswagen Polo

Save up to Rs 2.10 lakh
The Volkswagen Polo is the carmaker's only offering in the premium hatchback segment, and it received a facelift recently. The updates are cosmetic in nature, with no changes to the mechanicals. The Polo facelift gets the same 76hp, 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol and the 90hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine. While the GT variants continue to make use of the BS4-compliant 105hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, and the 110hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine on offer, they will be phased out before the BS6 norms come into effect. Perspective Polo buyers can avail up to Rs 2.10 lakh in discounts and benefits on the MY 2019 diesel variants, while the petrol variants can be had with benefits up to Rs 1 lakh.

MY 2020 model can be had with discounts of up to Rs 1.70 lakh for the diesel variants and up to Rs 70,000 on the petrol variants. It is worth noting the discounts will vary from trim to trim. Competitors of the Polo include the Maruti Suzuki BalenoMaruti Suzuki SwiftFord FigoToyota Glanza and Hyundai Elite i20

Volkswagen Ameo

Save up to Rs 1.60 lakh
The Volkswagen Ameo is a compact sedan which is based on the Polo hatchback. It can be had with either a 76hp, 1.0-litre petrol engine or an 110hp, 1.5-litre diesel unit. The segment it competes in consists of rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki DzireHonda AmazeHyundai Xcent and Ford Aspire. Volkswagen added a GT Line trim to the Ameo range a few months back, along with updating the warranty to 4 years/1,00,000km for the petrol, and 5 years/1,00,000km for the diesel variants. It is worth noting that the 5 years/1,00,000km warranty is also available on the diesel variants of the Polo and Vento.

Anyone looking to buy an Ameo can avail benefits of up to Rs 1.60 lakh on the MY 2019 diesel variants, while the petrol variants can be had with benefits of up to Rs 1.20 lakh. The MY 2020 cars also have similar discounts this month.
