I am planning to upgrade from a Classic 350 and am looking for something priced between Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 3 lakh. The bike should look and feel different from the Classic 350. I am currently considering the Strom SX 250 and the NX200.

Since you have mentioned that you are looking at adventure motorycles, we would recommend you take a look at the TVS Apache RTX 300, KTM 250 Adventure, and Hero Xpulse 210, all of which will fit within your budget.Of these three, the RTX will be the best all-rounder and also the most road-friendly machine which will feel more familiar to you coming from a road bike. I have been riding a KTM Adventure 250 for the past 5 years and now want to experience a sportier motorcycle. My usage is mostly city commuting for work and leisure. I enjoy trying different bike genres over the years and like KTM’s design and performance. I am particularly interested in the Duke series. KTM is known for power, stability, and aerodynamics. For 90-95% city commuting, which displacement between 125 cc and 250 cc would be ideal, while also being quick and easy to maintain?

Since you have already used a 250 Adventure and are leaning toward getting a KTM naked bike for city use, the 250 Duke makes for a great option. The latest-gen model has a punchy engine that's easy to live with, a great chassis and is loaded with features like a colour TFT display and bidirectional quickshifter. The only reason not to get one would be its compact size, which will be a factor to consider if you are a larger rider, because you will feel quite cramped on the bike.If you don't fit on the 250 Duke, you can switch over to the Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 because both are essentially the same bike draped in different bodywork. A test ride will help you decide which bike suits you better.

I own an Xpulse 200 2V (purchased in 2021), and have ridden about 53,000 km on it. Recently, I test rode the 400X and X440, and I'm also thinking about the KTM ADV 250 because I want more power now. I’m 6 ft tall, so the X440 feels low. I’m undecided between the 400X, KTM ADV 250, or possibly another bike. I was waiting for the Xpulse 421, but I don’t know when it will launch.

Since you have mentioned you want a powerful motorcycle, we would recommend you look at the Triumph Scrambler 400X, KTM 250 Adventure and TVS Apache RTX 300 in the ADV / Scrambler category. Of the three, the Triumph bike is the most powerful, but it is also pleasantly usable inside the city, whereas the KTM and TVS are more do-it-all machines that will also be wonderful on a day-to-day basis. Coming to the Xpulse 421, there's no official communication from Hero on when it will be launched, so we would recommend going with any of the other options you are considering. Take a test ride of whichever option you shortlist before you choose.

If you are comfortable with the heft and size of an adventure bike, then the KTM 250 Adventure and the TVS Apache RTX 300 are both sensible, smooth and comfortable options. Between the two, we'd recommend the RTX because it gives you more for your money. The TVS Ronin is a fantastic bike too, with a smooth engine and good comfort, so if you want something lighter and more manageable that's also easier on the wallet, you can consider the Ronin. If you're open to the idea of owning a Royal Enfield bike, then the Hunter 350 will also serve you well because it is smooth, comfortable and reliable.We recommend a thorough test ride of all machines you shortlist before you make your purchase.

Since you haven't specified your budget, we'll give you some options from both the same segment as well as one above. In a similar displacement and performance range as the FZ25, the Bajaj Pulsar N250 and TVS Apache RTR 200 4V are good options, and the Pulsar in particular has a great headlight spread. You should also look at the KTM 250 Adventure because it has more performance than your FZ, good highway manners and a bright headlight too. If you are open to stepping up to a 300cc machine, the TVS Apache RTX 300 will be a great option. It has even more performance than the aforementioned KTM. Moreover, its Top and BTO variants come with a very bright LED headlight that also has good spread and throw.We recommend exhaustive test rides and seeing the headlight performance of each of the bikes you shortlist for yourself before going ahead with the purchase.

The TVS Apache RTX 300 and KTM 250 Adventure will both fit the bill for your needs. Both have spacious seats, will return decent fuel economy, have great suspension and ride comfort and should be light on the pocket. Do bear in mind that these bikes are significantly more powerful than the Unicorn you currently have, and if you want something that's more laidback, there are other options. I’m planning to buy a bike next year (around August). I want a mid-range model (<300 cc) with ground clearance >175 mm, a comfortable pillion seat, and adventure-style capability. I won’t commute daily, but my rides are long when I do them, so good mileage is important. I plan to start longer trips from 2027 and prefer to avoid brands with higher maintenance costs (e.g., Yamaha). Could you suggest suitable models?
