•2wI am looking for a sports tourer similar to the Honda CB250R or Honda CB300F. However, both bikes have been discontinued, so I am exploring suitable alternatives. I am not a fan of neo-retro styling and would prefer a modern-looking motorcycle. I also need a bike with good riding ergonomics and dynamics suitable for long rides. My daily commute is around 60 km. Could you please suggest the best alternatives available? Also, would it be worth waiting for new launches that might offer a fresh design and better options in this segment?

Autocar India
Since you have a rather long daily commute and don't want to go for a neo-retro machine, an adventure bike makes good sense. Your previously shortlisted - but no longer available - options indicate that you were looking to get something in the 250-300cc space. In that vein, we'd recommend you look at the TVS Apache RTX 300. The RTX is a comfortable, quick and feature-laden machine which will also return decent fuel economy if ridden sensibly. In a similiar vein, you should also look at the KTM 250 Adventure and the base 390 Adventure (350cc) models, depending on your usage and budget. A test ride of these options will help you narrow down which bike is best for you.

•13wI am currently riding a 2022 TVS Ronin RS200, but I am not happy with it because, being a faired bike, it has a lot of issues every 1-2 months on Bangalore roads. I am thinking of switching to a naked bike like the Duke 250 or 250 Adventure. What are the best alternatives available in the 200/250/300 cc segment for daily city commuting and occasional 150-200 km out-of-city touring? Please suggest strong and punchy options that are currently in the market.

Autocar India
The KTM 250 Duke you have shortlisted will be a good option to step up to, and with its less bodywork than your RS200, you'll likely not run into the same issue again. The quarter-litre Duke is also an entertaining and punchy machine that feels at home both inside the city and out on the highway. In a similiar vein, you could also consider the TVS Apache RTR 310, which will offer you more performance and features, although it will be a little more expensive to buy even in base trim. If you are instead leaning toward an ADV, then you should consider bikes like the KTM 250 Adventure and TVS Apache RTX 300. A test ride of these bikes will help you decide what sort of bike is right for you and which one suits you best.

•14wDear Autocar, please suggest a bike for daily commuting and occasional touring. My budget is ₹3 lakh. I want a comfortable bike with (1) plusher suspension, (2) comfortable rider and pillion seats, and (3) a smooth engine and gearbox. My touring speed is usually between 80 and 100 kmph. My shortlist includes the Scram 440, TVS RTX 300 and KTM 250 Adventure. Please rate these bikes based on suspension comfort, seat comfort and engine and gearbox smoothness.

Autocar India
At the sedate speeds you will be riding, all three bikes' engines will be smooth and rather unstressed, so that shouldn't be a factor for you when you decide. Coming to suspension comfort, while all three set a very high baseline, it is the TVS Apache RTX 300 which has the edge in comparison to the KTM 250 Adventure and Royal Enfield Scram 440. Its suspension is plush yet controlled, keeping you comfortable over bad stretches while maintaining its composure on the road. If you opt for the RTX's top BTO variant, you'll even get some adjustability, so that's a clear win for the RTX in the suspension department.Even in terms of seating comfort, the Apache RTX 300 is the clear winner. The Scram 440's seat is comfortable for the pillion, but the rider's section is too thinly padded and the KTM 250 Adventure's seat is thin, firm and not the most spacious for two-up riding. However, the RTX is still a very new machine, and we'd strongly advise you to wait for 6 months - 1 year before you buy one, so that if any teething issues crop-up TVS can iron them out.If you want to buy any of these bikes today, the Royal Enfield Scram 440 will make for the best all-rounder, although it will be the most expensive to buy. If seat comfort is a problem for you, this is an easy and rather inexpensive fix at a trusted local seat shop.

•15wI am planning to upgrade from a Classic 350 and am looking for something priced between Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 3 lakh. The bike should look and feel different from the Classic 350. I am currently considering the Strom SX 250 and the NX200.

Autocar India
Since you have mentioned that you are looking at adventure motorycles, we would recommend you take a look at the TVS Apache RTX 300, KTM 250 Adventure, and Hero Xpulse 210, all of which will fit within your budget.Of these three, the RTX will be the best all-rounder and also the most road-friendly machine which will feel more familiar to you coming from a road bike. If you plan to go off-roading regularly, then the Xpulse makes the most sense with its long-travel suspension and wire spoke wheels. A test ride of these three will help you decide which is the right bike for you.

•17wI have been riding a KTM Adventure 250 for the past 5 years and now want to experience a sportier motorcycle. My usage is mostly city commuting for work and leisure. I enjoy trying different bike genres over the years and like KTM’s design and performance. I am particularly interested in the Duke series. KTM is known for power, stability, and aerodynamics. For 90-95% city commuting, which displacement between 125 cc and 250 cc would be ideal, while also being quick and easy to maintain?

Autocar India
Since you have already used a 250 Adventure and are leaning toward getting a KTM naked bike for city use, the 250 Duke makes for a great option. The latest-gen model has a punchy engine that's easy to live with, a great chassis and is loaded with features like a colour TFT display and bidirectional quickshifter. The only reason not to get one would be its compact size, which will be a factor to consider if you are a larger rider, because you will feel quite cramped on the bike.If you don't fit on the 250 Duke, you can switch over to the Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 because both are essentially the same bike draped in different bodywork. A test ride will help you decide which bike suits you better.

•25wI own an Xpulse 200 2V (purchased in 2021), and have ridden about 53,000 km on it. Recently, I test rode the 400X and X440, and I'm also thinking about the KTM ADV 250 because I want more power now. I’m 6 ft tall, so the X440 feels low. I’m undecided between the 400X, KTM ADV 250, or possibly another bike. I was waiting for the Xpulse 421, but I don’t know when it will launch.

Autocar India
Since you have mentioned you want a powerful motorcycle, we would recommend you look at the Triumph Scrambler 400X, KTM 250 Adventure and TVS Apache RTX 300 in the ADV / Scrambler category. Of the three, the Triumph bike is the most powerful, but it is also pleasantly usable inside the city, whereas the KTM and TVS are more do-it-all machines that will also be wonderful on a day-to-day basis. Coming to the Xpulse 421, there's no official communication from Hero on when it will be launched, so we would recommend going with any of the other options you are considering. Take a test ride of whichever option you shortlist before you choose.

•25wI am 6 ft 2 in tall and weigh 70 kg. I want to upgrade my 2012 CBZ. Please suggest which bike is better for me among the KTM Adventure 250, TVS RTX 300 and TVS Ronin.

Autocar India
If you are comfortable with the heft and size of an adventure bike, then the KTM 250 Adventure and the TVS Apache RTX 300 are both sensible, smooth and comfortable options. Between the two, we'd recommend the RTX because it gives you more for your money. The TVS Ronin is a fantastic bike too, with a smooth engine and good comfort, so if you want something lighter and more manageable that's also easier on the wallet, you can consider the Ronin. If you're open to the idea of owning a Royal Enfield bike, then the Hunter 350 will also serve you well because it is smooth, comfortable and reliable. We recommend a thorough test ride of all machines you shortlist before you make your purchase.

•26wI love bikes and currently ride a 2019 FZ-25 in good condition with 26,000 km on the odometer. I want a more comfortable bike for highway touring with a reliable engine and better headlight visibility at night. Please suggest suitable options.

Autocar India
Since you haven't specified your budget, we'll give you some options from both the same segment as well as one above. In a similar displacement and performance range as the FZ25, the Bajaj Pulsar N250 and TVS Apache RTR 200 4V are good options, and the Pulsar in particular has a great headlight spread. You should also look at the KTM 250 Adventure because it has more performance than your FZ, good highway manners and a bright headlight too. If you are open to stepping up to a 300cc machine, the TVS Apache RTX 300 will be a great option. It has even more performance than the aforementioned KTM. Moreover, its Top and BTO variants come with a very bright LED headlight that also has good spread and throw. We recommend exhaustive test rides and seeing the headlight performance of each of the bikes you shortlist for yourself before going ahead with the purchase.

•26wI want to upgrade from my CBZ Extreme (2012). I’m 6'2", 70 kg. My daily commute is 20 km, and I do occasional weekend trips with my wife. I’m looking for an adventure bike with decent mileage and better pillion comfort. My budget is ₹2.5 lakh. You can also suggest cruiser options.

Autocar India
For your usage, in the cruiser space, you can take a look at the Royal Enfield Classic / Bullet 350 as well as any of the three Honda CB350 models. All bikes have relaxed, smooth engines, spacious seats and great suspension comfort. In the ADV space, options like the TVS Apache RTX 300 and KTM 250 Adventure can be considered for their punchy - but not overwhelming - performance, spacious seats and comfortable ride quality, as well as luggage carrying capability. Take thorough test rides of all shortlisted options before you decide.

•26wI bought a Honda Unicorn two years ago as a beginner and now want a slightly more powerful, reliable bike within a ₹2.5 lakh budget (can stretch a bit). I ride 20–25 km daily and need good mileage, comfortable pillion space, occasional touring (rare off-roading), and low maintenance/spare costs. The Xpulse 210 interests me but its 140 kg max load is a concern. The bike should handle Bangalore road conditions. Please suggest some bikes to explore.

Autocar India
The TVS Apache RTX 300 and KTM 250 Adventure will both fit the bill for your needs. Both have spacious seats, will return decent fuel economy, have great suspension and ride comfort and should be light on the pocket. Do bear in mind that these bikes are significantly more powerful than the Unicorn you currently have, and if you want something that's more laidback, there are other options. Bikes like the Royal Enfield Bullet / Classic 350 and the three Honda CB350 models will also fit the bill if you don't mind their laidback character and retro looks. We recommend a thorough test ride before you choose.
