Trending Questions on Tata Safari - Answered by Autocar Experts
I need your opinion on choosing between the XUV 7XO AX7 diesel and the Tata Safari petrol. I like the Safari’s features with the petrol engine, but am hesitant about mileage on long drives and whether the 1.5-litre engine can comfortably pull 6-7 people. The 7XO feels good overall but misses features like second-row adjustment, a powered tailgate, and connected DRLs. I plan to keep the car for at least 7-9 years. Please advise.
I currently have a 2013 Grand i10 petrol top variant, and I am planning to upgrade to the MG Hector Plus Petrol CVT Savvy Pro variant. I find it very comfortable, premium-feeling, and value for money. My yearly driving is around 9,000 km, with 40% in the city and 60% on the highway. I do have a doubt because sales in India are quite low for this car. Is it a good buy for me?
Planning to buy a new diesel automatic 7-seater with a budget of ₹25 to 28 lakh. Confused between the Tata Safari and the Mahindra XUV 7X0. Also, is an extended warranty worth it?
I have recently bought a Tata Safari Stealth Black Accomplished Plus X variant and also own a 2016 Maruti Suzuki Ritz diesel. I am planning to buy a new sub-compact SUV or sedan and would like your suggestion on the best car I can get for up to ₹15 lakh.
Since you have a Tata Safari, we assume you want the smaller car primarily for city use, and interior space or highway stability would not be that high on the priority list. Thus, we would suggest the Skoda Kylaq. Measuring under 4 meters in length, it is easy to manage in crowded cities, and the 1.0-litre engine is peppy enough. Importantly, it comes with the option of a torque convertor gearbox, which is the smoothest type to have and something you will appreciate in stop-and-go traffic.
If it's a sedan, then check out the Honda Amaze. This too is under 4 meters in length, has light and easy controls, and while the automatic isn't a torque convertor. It has a CVT autobox, which is still the better option to have than an automated manual (AMT).
I want to upgrade my Brezza by November 2026. I am looking for a car with Level 2 ADAS, a panoramic sunroof, electric seats, ventilated seats, and cruise control. I am open to both 5 and 7-seater options, with a budget of Rs 30 to 35 lakh. Please suggest suitable options.
Dear Sir, I want to purchase a 7 seater SUV having comfort and luxury, my monthly runing is maximum 200 km. My budget is 22 - 25 lacs. I am confused between petrol XUV 7xo and Safari petrol. Kindly suggest.
Since your priorities are comfort and luxury we would recommend the Tata Safari. The interiors have a more luxurious feel and space and comfort is very good. The front seats are large and comfy and as is the second row too.
Since you are specifically looking for a 7 seater we assume the third row seats would be important as well and here the Safari pips the Mahindra XUV 7XO with a slightly better third row. Access to it is straightforward via the flip-down seat and once back there, knee room is fairly good and you can slide the second row forward to adjust space between both rows. Third row passengers also get a set of dedicated AC vents with their own blower controls.
I am planning to buy a 7-seater SUV with a budget of ₹20 to 24 lakh and am confused between the XEV 9S and the Safari petrol.
Hi Team Autocar, I read every suggestion you post - the way you evaluate and highlight key points is very impressive. I’m looking for a 7-seater SUV under ₹17-19 lakh. Please suggest a good SUV with strong road presence and ample space and legroom for a family of 6-7 people.
The Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV 7XO are the best options for your requirements. Both are large SUVs with strong road presence and ample room in the first and second rows.
However, it's the Tata Safari that has the better third row, with a bit more space and a comfier seating position. If the third row will be used often, we would recommend the Safari.
The Mahindra XUV 7XO doesn't offer a middle row slide function, leaving no option to free up extra space for third row passengers. The third row is usable but is best for short commutes.
Please suggest an SUV 7-seater that offers comfort, fuel efficiency, and safety. Since this will be my first vehicle, I’m thinking of the Tata Safari.
The Tata Safari is a good choice for a 7-seater SUV. It is spacious and has a genuinely usable third row of seats. The safety it offers is also very good, with a host of equipment, a stable ride and a 5-star crash rating in both GNCAP and BNCAP tests. The only thing is that, being a heavy vehicle, the mileage will not be very high.
Tata claims an ARAI efficiency of 14.5kpl, but you will get somewhere between 7 to 10 kpl in the city and a bit more on the highway. If this is a deal breaker, opt for the Hyundai Alcazar. The new car is not yet crash tested, but it has a lot of safety equipment. The diesel engine returned an impressive 12.5kpl in the city and 16.3kpl on the highway in our standard test cycle.
