Porsche 911
The 911 is inarguably the most coveted Porsche model available in India, as well as worldwide. Based on the VW Group’s MMB platform, the 911 rivals the likes of the Maserati GranTurismo, and Aston Martin Vantage. Porsche 911 on road price is approximately between ₹2.37 crore and ₹4.51 crore, varying from city to city.
Few nameplates enjoy the fame and recognition that the Porsche 911 does. The German two seater sports car combines incredible real-world performance and drivability with a high-end interior that is laden with modern tech features and can accommodate two adults in comfort. There are two rear seats as well, but their usability remains limited due to lack of space. The Porsche 911 is available in up to 3 variants, with all of them being powered by six cylinder petrol engines.

Lacks drama compared to other sportscars
9.0
A Porsche 911 is unmistakable on the road, with its instantly recognisable silhouette, oval headlamps and round tail-lamps. It uses staggered wheel sizes, front and rear, there are plenty of optional cosmetic add ons, and higher performance versions feature more aggressive aerodynamics packages. Some may find it too subtle looking for the asking price, though.
8.0
The 911 is now a two-seater as standard, though rear seats can be added at no cost in most variants. The driving position is near perfect, with great visibility and superb ergonomics. Quality is impeccable and here too there are many options to enhance the interior’s appearance. The 135-litre front boot can easily carry a couple of weekend bags.
10.0
There are several flat six engines on offer, ranging from a 394hp, 3.0 twin-turbo, to a 543hp, 3.6 hybrid, to a naturally aspirated 4.0 that revs to 9,500rpm, each with its own unique appeal. While the Carrera has sufficient performance, it’s not quite as effortless as higher models; the GTS t-hybrid and Turbo S models pack near-supercar performance. The GT3 RS and ST, however, deliver a race-car like high-revving experience, uncorrupted by turbocharging.
6.0
While fuel economy is not the priority in any sportscar, the Porsche 911 mileage is not as low as you might think. On the WLTP cycle, the 911 Carrera is rated at 9.66kpl, the GTS t-hybrid at 9.34kpl, the Turbo S at 8.23kpl and the GT3 RS at 7.58kpl.
10.0
Apart from the track-focused 911 GT3 RS, the Porsche 911 is relatively comfortable over bumps. Adaptive dampers are standard, making it a surprisingly competent everyday car or long-distance tourer. The nose-lift kit is essential for India, though. Handling is the 911’s highlight with a uniquely rearward weight bias and sharp steering. It’s easy to get used to and immensely rewarding to master.
7.0
The Porsche 911 price in India has gone up in recent years with even the base model now costing Rs 2.11 crore before options, the GTS costing Rs 2.83 crore and rare models like the ST going past Rs 4 crore. However, it boasts of a variety that no other sportscar offers, and there is truly a 911 for everyone. No matter which you choose, the driving experience comes first and it is sublime, whether on a track, or in everyday use.
7.0
Porsche is infamous for its options lists, and that’s the case here too. While even the basic 911 is well equipped with the likes of a 12.6in touchscreen, digital dials, navigation, Matrix LED headlamps, leather upholstery and 8-speaker audio, you can add several lakhs worth of options. On the safety front a rear-view camera, front and rear park sensors, 6 airbags and ISOFIX mounts are standard.

While outright fuel economy is not really the goal here, the Porsche 911 mileage of around 8.4 kmpl - 9.62 kmpl is far from terrible for the brand’s flagship sports car powered by an internal combustion engine.

Porsche 911 FAQs
No, the Porsche 911 comes to India as a full CBU import.
The Porsche Turbo S's claimed 0-100kph sprint time of 2.5 seconds (with Sport Chrono Package) is 1.6 seconds quicker than the standard 911.
In the case of a Turbo S, it's always the backside. The big two-stage wing and wide track are your biggest giveaways to this being the range-topping 911. Angular tail pipes are another distinguishing element. In profile, the air intakes on the wheel arches are an age-old Turbo detail. Also exclusive to the new Turbo S are motorsport-inspired centre-lock wheels.
The Porsche 911 operates on 100 octane fuel.
Custom choice are offered across exterior parts, wheels, seats and more. In fact, the base Carrera that we tested in June 2025 had options worth Rs 67 lakh.
Each variant - Carrera, Carrera 4 GTS and Turbo S serves a different type of buyer, with the latter two featuring a hybrid setup to enhance performance. For most buyers, the standard 911 Carrera will be fine as it is not lacking in performance either.

•23wI want to buy a Porsche GT3. I have not driven a sports car before, and I currently drive a Jeep Compass. How can I gradually move into the sports car segment?

Autocar India
While the Porsche 911 GT3 is a superb sports car - and will be launching in its latest 992.2 guise in early 2026 - it is perhaps too much of a handful for one's first sports car. The GT3 has lowered, firm suspension, which, while great for handling, is not comfortable and makes the car twitchy to drive, and similarly, its steering is heavy, and its power delivery is sharp. It's a sports car you graduate to after some experience with more manageable performance vehicles, better suited to the track than the road, and worth buying once you are fully committed. Plus, at a price of Rs 3 crore, it is an expensive gateway option. It's better to start out with a more usable car, which still has strong performance, like the BMW M2, or the Mercedes-Benz CLE AMG 53.These cars are more usable every day, while still having great flash value and strong performance. They will let you become accustomed to a greater deal of performance, and deploy it safely on the road. The GT3 can come at a later stage.
