Porsche India has started accepting orders for the latest ‘992.2’ iteration of the 911 GT3, priced at Rs 3.33 crore (ex-showroom, before options). The GT3 variants of the 911 are the most track-focused of the range and are the only ones powered by a naturally aspirated engine (barring special limited-run editions). This 992.2 version of the 911 GT3 made its global debut in October 2024.

  1. 911 GT3 gets 510hp 4.0-litre NA flat-six; 0-100kph in 3.4 seconds
  2. Sportier styling elements include rear wing, revised bumpers, larger wheels
  3. Weissach and Manthey kits optionally available for better performance
  4. Interior gets conventional gear knob, Sport Chrono package as standard

Above the 911 GT3’s rear axle sits a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated pure-petrol flat-six, which revs to a manic 9,000rpm and produces 510hp and 450Nm. While the global-spec 911 GT3 is available with either a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (PDK) or a 6-speed manual, the Indian market gets only the former gearbox, funnelling power solely to the rear wheels.

Porsche claims that the PDK version of the 911 GT3 can dispatch the 0-100kph run in 3.4 seconds and stretch onwards to a top speed of 311kph. To aid driving feel and performance, the India-spec 911 GT3 comes with standard features such as a lightweight stainless steel sports exhaust system, rear-wheel steering, torque vectoring and active sport suspension.

On the outside, the GT3 builds on the base 911 Carrera’s design with racier elements in the interest of enhanced aerodynamic efficiency. Up front, the GT3 gets a different bonnet housing two ducts at the leading end, as well as larger air intakes and a bigger splitter on the bumper.

The 911 GT3 comes with unique, larger alloy wheels in a staggered layout – 20 inches at the front, 21 inches at the rear – shod in sports tyres. At the back, the most notable element is a massive decklid-mounted wing, along with a separate integrated ducktail spoiler, ‘GT3’ badging, dual air exits with higher-set reflectors, a redesigned diffuser section and centrally positioned dual exhaust tips.

While the 911 GT3’s wingless Touring exterior package is not on offer for Indian customers, they can opt for the weight-saving Weissach package (pictured), which commands a premium of Rs 43.9 lakh (Rs 35.06 lakh without a roll cage) and adds carbonfibre centre sections on the bonnet and roof, carbonfibre exterior trim pieces, a bolted carbonfibre rear roll cage, lightweight doors, 6-point seat belts for the front seats and more.

Porsche India is also offering a Manthey kit for the 911 GT3, costing an eye-watering Rs 1 crore and claimed to deliver even better on-track performance. It gets a smooth underbody with 1.5-metre-long air deflectors, a tow strap and canards on the front bumper, carbon aerodiscs for the rear wheels, a larger Manthey-spec carbonfibre wing, a more aggressive rear diffuser and upgraded suspension geometry and brakes, among other features.

Going from the 911 Carrera to the GT3, not much has changed inside. The 911 GT3’s interior sets itself apart with a conventional gear knob, an analogue stopwatch on the dash top (part of the standard Sport Chrono package), and unique upholstery and trim pieces. There’s no rear seat, either.

Elsewhere, though, the 911 GT3 retains the Carrera’s standard equipment, including a 10.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 12.6-inch digital driver’s display, an 8-speaker sound system, a wireless charging pad, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and 4-way powered sports seats, to name a few.
