Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara FAQs

The Maruti Grand Vitara’s starting price of Rs 10.77 lakh makes it more affordable than popular models like the Hyundai Creta, Tata Sierra, Honda Elevate and Kia Seltos. Its top-end price of Rs 19.62 lakh is more affordable than the Creta, Seltos, Sierra, Hyryder and Victoris.

The Maruti Grand Vitara is a well-rounded SUV with a modern exterior and interior design, a decent feature suite with likeable comfort and convenience features, and two engine options, one with an AWD setup and another being a fuel-efficient hybrid mill, currently exclusive to Maruti-Toyota models. At its price, while it lacks a bit on engine performance, it still offers a lot of value.

The Grand Vitara hybrid is around Rs 2.9 lakh more expensive than equivalent petrol variants.

The Grand Vitara CNG is Rs 90,000 pricier than the equivalent petrol variant.

Looking to buy a new car and am currently confused between the Hyundai Creta 1.5 Petrol Automatic and the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Zeta AT Mild-Hybrid. The car will be driven around 1,000 km per month, mostly in city traffic, with occasional highway trips. My main priorities are real-world city and highway mileage, long-term reliability, maintenance costs, comfort, performance, and overall ownership experience over 8-10+ years. I would really appreciate opinions from owners/users of either car, especially regarding actual city mileage in traffic, maintenance costs, and any issues experienced during long-term ownership.

Based on your requirements our suggestion would be the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara in its Zeta Automatic Mild Hybrid, guys. Since the car will not be driven a lot, it is a good option to consider. Given your preference for mileage, reliability, and maintenance costs, a Maruti is always better. The real-world efficiency of both these cars is not too different. The Maruti gives you an average of 13.4 km/L. The Hyundai Creta is slightly less at 13.1 but maintenance costs and service, on the whole, are going to be slightly cheaper with Maruti. In terms of performance, this Hyundai car is definitely better; however, you will not really experience a lot of difference driving in everyday city traffic. Even on the highway the Grand Vitara has enough grunt to overtake so it is not an absolute dealbreaker. The gearbox on the Grand Vitara is a torque converter automatic, which is a bit smoother and offers better highway performance. The Creta comes mated with a CVT, which is good in the city (it is nice and smooth) but not exactly perfect on the highway. If you do a lot of occasional highway trips, then the Maruti will be better there as well. My overall recommendation would be the Grand Vitara, given your preferences.

I am confused between the Grand Vitara Zeta CNG and the Victoris ZXi CNG. Please help me decide which one would be a better choice.

Verified

Go for the Maruti Suzuki Victoris ZXi CNG. Both the Grand Vitara and Victoris are essentially the same car underneath, sharing the same engine, platform and CNG powertrain, so performance, efficiency and reliability will be identical. The key difference is that the Victoris gets a brighter interior with a more modern-looking dashboard, and a slightly better feature list at a similar price point. The Victoris's biggest advantage is its underbody CNG tank, which doesn't compromise luggage space.

I am looking to buy a petrol automatic SUV primarily for city use, with occasional highway trips. I have shortlisted the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Zeta AT mild-hybrid and Kia Seltos HTK(O). My priorities are real-world city and highway mileage, reliability, maintenance costs, long-term ownership (8-10+ years), comfort, and overall value for money. I would appreciate advice from owners/users, especially regarding actual mileage in heavy city traffic, maintenance costs, and any issues they have faced over the years.

Go for the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Zeta mild hybrid AT. For your priorities of mileage, reliability, low maintenance and long-term ownership, it is the safer and more sensible choice. The mild hybrid system helps with efficiency in stop-start city traffic, and Maruti’s service network and ownership costs are among the best in the business. The Kia Seltos HTK (O) is a good car, but the Grand Vitara’s mild hybrid system gives it a clear advantage in city efficiency, and Maruti’s ownership experience is hard to beat. This Kia car does feel more premium inside, but for your requirements, that is less important than reliability and running costs. In heavy city traffic, owners typically see around 11-13 km/l in the Grand Vitara mild hybrid AT, with highway figures in the 16-18 km/l range. Maintenance costs are reasonable, and Maruti’s service reach is a big advantage over a long ownership period. The Seltos petrol automatic is also reliable, but real-world city mileage is usually a bit lower, and Kia’s service network is not as extensive.Overall, the Grand Vitara is the better fit for your requirements.

I am looking to buy a petrol automatic SUV primarily for city use, with occasional highway trips. I have shortlisted the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Zeta mild hybrid and Kia Seltos HXO, both with petrol engines. My priorities are real-world city and highway mileage, reliability, maintenance costs, long-term ownership of 8-10+ years, comfort and overall value for money. The car will mainly be driven by my father, who drives fairly calmly. I would appreciate advice from owners and users, especially regarding actual mileage in heavy city traffic, maintenance costs and any issues faced over the years.

Go for the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Zeta mild hybrid petrol automatic. The mild hybrid system gives it an efficiency advantage in city traffic, and Maruti’s service network and low-cost maintenance are hard to beat over a decade of ownership. The automatic gearbox is smooth and well-suited to calm driving, and the car is comfortable and easy to live with. The Kia Seltos HXO petrol automatic feels more premium, with a nicer interior and a more powerful engine, but it also costs more. For a calm driver who values reliability and low running costs, the Grand Vitara is the better long-term ownership proposition. You'd pick the Kia Seltos if you want a more premium cabin and stronger performance and are willing to pay for it.

Which of the three would be most suitable for cross-country trips involving a mix of smooth, average and bad roads: the Honda Elevate CVT, Maruti Grand Vitara Smart Hybrid AT, or Volkswagen Taigun 1.0 AT? My key criteria are reliability and safety, ride quality, and fatigue-free driving. I am also considering a few potential downsides: the NVH levels of the Elevate, the long-term reliability of the Smart Hybrid battery in the Grand Vitara, although this is not a deal-breaker, and the possibility of EPC-related faults in the Taigun. I would appreciate some expert advice on which of these three would be the best overall choice for my requirements.

Verified

For your requirements, the Honda Elevate CVT is the most balanced choice. It is a simple, robust and reliable package with a proven naturally aspirated petrol engine and a smooth CVT gearbox, which makes it well suited for long-distance touring. The Elevate also offers a comfortable ride, good ground clearance and a suspension setup that can handle a mix of road conditions, including bad patches, without feeling fragile. Honda’s long-term reliability track record is strong, and the car’s simplicity is actually an advantage for ownership over 5-10 years. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Smart Hybrid AT is also a good option, but the hybrid system adds complexity without a significant advantage on long highway runs, where the fuel savings are less pronounced. The battery is not a major reliability concern, but it is still an additional component to consider over long-term ownership. The Volkswagen Taigun 1.0 TSI AT is the enthusiast’s choice with a more engaging driving experience and strong performance, but your concerns about EPC-related faults are not unfounded. While Volkswagen has improved reliability, the ownership experience is still not as hassle-free as Honda or Maruti.
