Confused between Fortuner and HyCross. No budget restrictions.
I am looking to upgrade my current car, and my choices are the XUV 7XO and the MG Majestor, which I’m guessing would be almost twice as expensive as the 7XO. I have always been a fan of the Endeavour, so I thought the Majestor would tick those boxes, but I’m unsure if it’s worth the wait.

My first preference is the Innova Crysta, but I am apprehensive that if the company discontinues it, servicing could become expensive and resale value limited. My next preference is the XUV 7XO, but I’m concerned about rust issues. For the Tata Safari, I feel the diesel engine is very noisy and the sound percolates into the cabin. My overall requirements are a spacious third row, strong road presence, good driving and ride comfort, and good mileage, all within a budget of ₹25–27 lakh. Can you please suggest an SUV?
The Toyota Innova Crysta will be discontinued when the CAFE 3 emissions norms come around in 2027. But it should not be a cause for concern in terms of maintenance. As the Toyota Fortuner and Hilux - which share the same IMV platform and diesel engine - are expected to continue on.
Thus parts availability will not be an issue and, as ever, Toyota's reputation for reliability and service precedes it. If you are still concerned, however, the Mahindra XUV 7XO is the next best option, and a much better value than the Innova Crysta, if not quite as spacious. The company has raised its production standards considerably since the days of the KUV100, so rust is unlikely to be an issue.

You are right, the Innova, especially the Innova Hycross, is far more comfortable and refined than the Fortuner, which feels crude in comparison. There is no doubt the Toyota Fortuner has tremendous road presence with its height and imposing looks, but the suspension is bumpy, the interiors are basic, and the diesel engine is quite noisy, too.
The Fortuner is the one to go for if you regularly drive to remote regions and want power and the ability to go anywhere. The Innova Hycross, on the other hand, is powered by a far smoother petrol engine.
The Hycross has a far more comfortable cabin, too, and overall is the better everyday car. You also have the option of the Innova Crysta diesel, which is more comfortable than the Fortuner. But it is only available with a manual variant and is not as well-equipped as the Hycross.
With a budget of ₹22 lakh, which seven-seater hybrid car without a sunroof should I consider?
I am planning to buy a new car and am confused between the XEV 9S, Harrier EV, and Fortuner 4x2 Diesel Automatic. My usage is mostly within the city, with occasional weekend drives of up to 100 km. I live in an area with a lot of incline terrain and bad roads, and my monthly driving is around 500 km. I also have my own parking space where I can install a charger. Considering my driving pattern and road conditions, should I opt for an EV or choose a petrol or diesel vehicle, and which car would be the best choice for my needs?
For city use, the Toyota Fortuner is not ideal. Since you have private parking that accommodates a charger, this is a perfect time to switch to an EV. The Mahindra XEV 9E is more appealing than the Harrier EV, but the Mahindra XEV 9S is the one to focus on because it is more practical and also costs less.
It offers enough range for your 100 km weekend runs, has sufficient power and torque to tackle steep inclines, and has adequate ground clearance for rough roads. The Fortuner will handle rough roads better, but given that it is much more than the 9S. It is hard to justify the extra spend for occasional rough-road use.
I want to buy a seven-seater car in the ₹50-60 lakh budget range, with good mileage and power. Should I opt for the Fortuner or consider some other car?
While the Toyota Fortuner has strong road presence and a powerful image, it does not offer a premium and sophisticated experience that is expected of the price.
The Skoda Kodiaq would be a better choice as it has the right level of premiumness and performance, and is a lot more comfortable than the Fortuner. Mileage numbers will be similar for both SUVs, but the diesel engine in the Fortuner would be a bit easier on the pocket.
Our recommendation would be the Skoda Kodiaq as it offers better value and is a better product overall.
I currently drive a Tata Nexon and am planning to upgrade to a seven-seater. I have shortlisted the Skoda Kodiaq Sportline and Jeep Meridian Trail AT, but am confused about which one to finalise. I need expert advice on this. You may suggest any other seven-seater as well, except the Innova HyCross.
But if your objective is to travel with six or seven adults often, consider the MG Gloster and Toyota Fortuner, which are more spacious than the Skoda and Jeep. The Gloster has an edge over the Fortuner in terms of a more upmarket interior and better refinement.
