I am planning to buy a new vehicle for myself and my parents. I have seen the new Audi Q3 2026 and am quite interested in it, but I am not fully convinced about the petrol-only option. I was hoping for a hybrid version, especially considering fuel efficiency at this price point. Secondly, I am also looking for a 4x4 and am currently waiting for the new Fortuner. However, I am confused because many people are suggesting the new Scorpio N or Thar Roxx, saying that if the primary purpose is off-roading, there is no need to spend so much on a Fortuner. Please suggest what would be the better option for my requirements.

The Audi New Q3 is a good choice if you want a premium, comfortable SUV, but I would not buy it expecting a hybrid. The India-spec Q3 is expected to use a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with 204hp, a 7-speed DCT and quattro AWD, with no confirmed hybrid version for India.

If your requirement is genuine 4x4 capability, the Toyota Fortuner remains a very different proposition. The next-generation Fortuner is already being tested and is expected in India by early 2027. It is expected to retain petrol and diesel engines, 4x4 capability and the ladder-frame construction, while gaining a much more modern cabin and ADAS.

The Mahindra Scorpio N is the sensible alternative if you want a capable 4x4 without spending Fortuner money. The Thar Roxx makes more sense if off-road ability is the priority, but it is less comfortable and practical as a family SUV.

For parents, the Q3 will be considerably easier to live with in the city, while the Fortuner is better suited to long-distance touring and serious rough-road use.

I am confused between Audi Q3 because it’s coming in NA engine not hybrid as it’s coming in Lexus NX350H . But then i also consider the diff of the buying cost as it would be 17-18 lakhs more but don’t know the annual maintainance . Secondly is Toyota fortuner worth waiting as i can consider Toyota corolla cross or FJ Land Cruiser if they are coming in 2027 in the first half .

, hi Manish ji . Daily driving is around 15-20 Km in case of my parents . But looking for an Luxury Alternative , a good & Reliable car with managable mantainace cost . for my self i am also looking for a good suv very reliable with a good snob value and not an expensive one . But i am looking for local & highway use but a 4x4 . We are already driving an Innova crysta & a Skoda Kushaq .

I currently drive a Hyundai i20 Asta and am now looking to upgrade to a 5-seater SUV. My priorities are performance, comfort, safety and decent mileage. Based on my test drive, I feel the Thar Roxx is not the most suitable option for family use. On the other hand, the XUV 7XO is a 6/7-seater, which I would prefer to avoid. I am looking for a 5-seater SUV that can comfortably meet my requirements and serve me well for at least 10 years. Kindly suggest which would be the best option for me.

You are right about the Mahindra Thar Roxx. While it offers strong performance and road presence, its ride comfort may not be ideal for your family's requirements, particularly with 60 per cent highway usage. We would suggest looking at the Mahindra XUV 7XO diesel automatic instead. It offers a more comfortable ride, a spacious cabin, better rear seat comfort and strong highway performance. It will be a more suitable family SUV for your usage, without compromising too much on performance.

I’m planning to buy the Mahindra Thar Roxx Star Edition with the 2.2-litre diesel automatic and 4x2 drivetrain. I’ll use it for my daily college commute and weekend outings. I won’t be taking it on serious off-road trails, but will I miss 4x4 when it comes to small river crossings, bad and uneven roads, and beach sand? Can the 4x2 handle these conditions? Should I cancel my booking and get the AX5L 4x4 instead, even though it costs Rs 3 lakh more and misses out on some features? Or is there another car I should consider for Rs 24 lakh on-road?

The Thar Roxx Star Edition 4x2 should be fine for the light trails you are describing. However, if these excursions give you the off-roading bug, you will be limited by the lack of four-wheel drive. If you are certain that you have no intention of doing any serious off-roading, the Roxx Star Edition is a solid choice. It offers some of the features from the higher trims but omits ADAS and a few other features to keep the price down.If you think you might want to explore more serious off-roading in the future, then go with the AX5. The 4x4 system makes it very capable off-road and unlocks the full potential of the Thar Roxx. It misses out on a few features, such as a panoramic sunroof and a 360-degree camera, but gets ADAS instead.Overall, the Star Edition 4x2 is a solid value-for-money proposition, but if serious off-roading is on the cards, go with the 4x4.

I am planning to buy the top-end Hyundai Creta Turbo Petrol DCT variant. My daily running is around 50–100km, which adds up to approximately 25,000–30,000km annually. I am looking for a car that offers strong performance and quick acceleration, along with a comprehensive set of comfort and convenience features. Should I buy the current Creta Turbo Petrol DCT top variant or wait for the 2027 Creta? For context, I currently own a 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire Hybrid and a Volkswagen Virtus GT 1.5 TSI.

The 2027 Hyundai New Creta will be thoroughly updated inside-out, and it'll have more tech and features. If you don't mind waiting, it makes sense to get the 2027 new-gen model. Do note, its powertrain options are likely to be carried forward from the current version. If you can't wait, but still want the performance as well as the latest in terms of tech and features, consider the Kia Seltos turbo-dct instead, which packs in more or less everything the next-gen Creta is likely to offer.

Which SUV would you pick for a family of 5?

I’m planning to buy a new car, and my annual running is around 40,000km, primarily involving highway drives and ghat sections. I have shortlisted the Kia Seltos Diesel HTX and the upcoming facelifted Toyota Innova Hycross ZX. I’m considering two approaches: either buy the Innova Hycross and keep it for the next 10 years, given its reputation for longevity and the expectation that its engine can last at least 4 lakh kilometres, or buy the Seltos, drive it for around 2 lakh kilometres over 4–5 years, sell it and upgrade to a brand-new Seltos or another car of a similar price and size. On paper, the Innova Hycross Hybrid seems like the better choice, considering its long-term reliability and features such as the Ottoman reclining seats. However, I’m concerned that I might get bored of it after four years or that it may start feeling outdated as newer technologies and features enter the market. This makes the second option appealing, as it would allow me to upgrade to a brand-new car every 4–5 years. Which approach would make more sense in the long run, considering my high annual running and ownership costs?

It seems like you're leaning towards the Kia Seltos Diesel HTX, and we think it is a good choice. The diesel engine feels adequately powered for highway usage and ghat driving, and it is likely to return respectable efficiency too. Moreover, despite being modern with all the latest tech and features, the Seltos will be substantially more affordable than the Toyota Innova Hycross hybrid. So unless you need the Innova's extra space, or you frequently travel with six or seven passengers, the Kia Seltos diesel is your best bet.
