Toyota Fortuner powertrains

The petrol Fortuner gets a 2.7-litre engine making 166hp and is available only with an automatic gearbox. Diesel versions use a 2.8-litre engine with 204hp, and buyers can choose between manual and automatic gearboxes. Toyota also offers the diesel with a 48V mild-hybrid system. Four-wheel drive option remains limited to diesel Fortuner variants.

Next-gen Fortuner details

Toyota will retain the 2.8-litre diesel and 48V mild-hybrid setup in the next-generation Fortuner (codename 582D), along with its ladder-frame platform, despite stricter CAFE 3 norms.

From January to April 2026, Toyota reported total sales of over 1.37 lakh units, up 19 percent from the same period last year, while domestic sales rose 20 percent to 1.27 lakh units.
