I own a January 2018 Tata Nexon petrol. It is an E10 compliant car that I have to run on E20 due to the government mandate. Till date, it has clocked 1,01,200 km without any issues. I want to know your views on usage of Petrol additive Iftex System G and G+. As suggested by the manufacturer, I plan to use System G+ for one-time cleaning, followed by dosing System G with petrol thereafter. I would be grateful if you could explain their impact on the car.

You have a 2018 Tata Nexon petrol that has run over 1 lakh km without any issues, and you are now concerned about running it on E20 fuel and whether using Iftex System G and G+ additives will help. The good news is that your Nexon has already proven itself to be a reliable car, and there is no evidence to suggest that running E20 in an E10-compliant engine will cause any immediate or catastrophic problems. The main impact of E20 is a slight drop in fuel efficiency and potentially increased wear on some rubber fuel system components over a very long period. As for the additives, using System G+ as a one-time cleaning dose followed by regular System G dosing is unlikely to cause any harm, but it is also unlikely to make a dramatic difference. Modern fuels already contain detergents, and your car has been running well for over 1 lakh km without additives. If you want to use them for peace of mind, that is fine, but do not expect a night-and-day improvement. The most important thing is to continue with regular maintenance and keep an eye on fuel system components over time.Overall, your Nexon has already proven itself, and E20 is not something to be overly worried about. Additives are a personal choice, but they are not a magic solution.

I currently own a 2019 Hyundai Venue and am considering either the Tata Nexon DCA Camo Edition or Mahindra XUV 3XO AX5 AT. How reliable are these cars for long-term ownership of around 10 years, particularly in terms of after-sales support, workshop quality and the ability of technicians to diagnose and fix issues beyond regular servicing? There have been concerns about Tata and Mahindra workshops not always having the required expertise when more complex issues arise. The Nexon, for instance, has had reports of engine oil and coolant mixing, while the XUV 3XO has faced complaints related to infotainment glitches and electrical warning messages. Given these concerns, which of the two would be a safer choice for hassle-free ownership over the next decade?

Between the Tata Nexon DCA and the Mahindra XUV 3XO AX5 AT, the XUV 3XO is the better proposition. The Nexon DCA is a good product, but Mahindra's 1.2 turbo-petrol engine delivers much stronger performance, and its 6-speed torque converter automatic complements the engine well. The 3XO is more spacious and comfier than the Nexon. On the service side, both Tata and Mahindra have room for improvement, but Mahindra generally has a slightly better reputation for consistency and technical capability, especially when it comes to resolving issues beyond routine maintenance.

Hi everyone, I’m planning to buy a Tata Nexon and would really appreciate some advice from current Nexon owners or anyone who has recently compared these variants. My current options are the Nexon Creative AMT, which is around Rs 12.46 lakh on-road, and the Creative AMT Camo, which costs around Rs 12.90 lakh on-road. The difference is roughly Rs 44,000. I’m particularly interested in the Camo for its additional features and the Munnar Mist colour, but I’m wondering whether the extra Rs 44,000 is actually worth paying over the regular Creative AMT. My priorities are good long-term ownership, genuinely useful features rather than cosmetic additions, safety and comfort, and decent resale value. I’m also planning to keep the car for several years, and my overall budget is strictly under Rs 13 lakh on-road. So, which would be the better choice: the Creative AMT to save Rs 44,000, the Creative AMT Camo by paying the extra Rs 44,000, or skipping the Nexon and considering another manufacturer or variant under Rs 13 lakh? If buying with this budget today, which one would you choose and why? I’d also be interested in hearing from anyone who has already booked or owns the Camo, particularly regarding its unique features, 360-degree camera and dashcam functionality, and whether the Camo package feels worth the premium.

Go for the Tata Nexon Creative AMT Camo. The premium is justified by the additional features, especially the 360-degree camera with dashcam functionality, which is genuinely useful in daily driving and parking situations. Its larger 12.3-inch Harman touchscreen infotainment system is also a great addition to the feature list. The Camo package also adds a unique visual identity with the Munnar Mist colour, which helps the car stand out. The extra Rs 44,000 you are spending does get you a fair bit of useful kit and, since you are planning on keeping the car for a long time, it’s worth spending a little extra now to keep the tech feeling fresh for longer. From a long-term ownership perspective, the Nexon remains a strong choice with its solid safety credentials and comfortable ride. However, the service experience of Tata cars can be inconsistent depending on the city and dealership, so check your dealer’s reputation before you commit. The Creative AMT Camo strikes a good balance between value and features, making it a solid pick within your Rs 13 lakh budget.

I'm driving Tata Altroz NA petrol manual for the past five years. Now, I want to switch to a diesel engine since most of my running would be on rough terrain and ghat roads. My yearly running is around 15,000 km. I am looking for a used Nexon diesel due to budget constraint. I live in Mangalore. Would it be a good option or should I look for some other brand/model? I would prefer manual only since I like driving manual cars and I don't need very fancy features. Please suggest.

Given your usage of 15,000 km a year, rough terrain, ghat roads and a preference for manual driving, a diesel SUV is the right direction. The Tata Nexon diesel is a good choice for this use case. The diesel engine has strong low-end torque, which is exactly what you want for hill climbs and rough roads, and the Nexon’s ground clearance and suspension setup are well suited to the kind of terrain you’re describing. It’s one of Tata Motor's older cars and has been constantly updated since its introduction for improve aspects of performance comfort and reliability so get as new a car possible as your budget allows. If you find a well-maintained example with a clean service history, the Nexon diesel is a very sensible and cost-effective upgrade from your Altroz. If you want to consider alternatives, the Hyundai Venue or even the Maruti Suzuki Brezza diesel (from the previous generation) is worth a look. Overall, the Nexon diesel manual is a good fit for your requirements. Just focus on finding a well-maintained used example with a full service history.
