Maruti Suzuki Fronx FAQs

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is an all-rounder product, which has great comfort on offer, along with two engines. The turbo-petrol will be suitable if you want an enthusiastic drive, while the petrol option would be better for fuel-efficient city drives. Its high ground clearance and a price tag that falls between the Baleno and Brezza make it ideal for someone looking for a small SUV on a budget.

If your usage is mostly inclined towards highway drives, the 1.0-litre 3-cylinder engine would be the ideal choice. It offers a strong mid-range punch, which would mean easy overtakes. For city users, the 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine would be a better option, as it offers better fuel efficiency and a more refined experience. The CNG option can also be chosen for city driving needs, if less boot space is manageable.

Compared to the Baleno, the Fronx has a stiffer ride quality, which is not comfortable by any means, and rather adds to its sportiness. Body roll is minimal, and its high-speed stability is also commendable. However, at slow speeds, passengers can feel a bit of vertical movement.

Inside, the Fronx mirrors the Baleno, and hence, offers the same springy (and comfortable) seats. The rear seat space is also commendable, which can accommodate three average-sized individuals without an issue. Its SUV-like form also allows for better headroom than the Baleno.

The Fronx is based on the Baleno, but has a higher ground clearance and a turbo-petrol engine, the latter of which makes it the only Maruti car with such an engine. However, the Fronx’s USP is the interior space, which is available in plenty. The design also makes it look sharp and adds to its road presence.

The Maruti Fronx’s starting price of ₹6.85 lakh makes it more affordable than popular models like the Venue, Sonet, Syros, Kylaq, Nexon, and Brezza. Its top-end price of ₹11.84 lakh is also more affordable than all the aforementioned models.

In terms of pricing, Maruti has positioned the Fronx between the Baleno hatchback and the Brezza SUV, and considering its positives, it is a value-for-money offering. Its turbo-petrol engine, however, is on the pricier side, but considering the performance, it still offers a lot of value.

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is available with a dual-tone colour option, featuring a Bluish Black roof, with the Earthen Brown, Splendid Silver and Opulent Red colours. A dual-tone colour option is offered with the top-spec Alpha trim only at an additional cost of Rs 14,000 over the monotone hue prices.

The Delta+ variant with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a manual transmission is recommended, as it offers a decently loaded feature suite and a fuel-efficient engine. It offers amenities like a 7-inch infotainment system, all-LED lighting, rear parking sensors, and alloy wheels.

Customers wanting the Fronx but on a budget should go for the lower-spec Delta variant with a petrol-manual combination. It offers features such as a 7-inch touchscreen, automatic AC, 4 speakers, halogen headlights and steel wheels with covers.

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is one of the most fuel-efficient compact SUVs in India. The manual version of the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine, it has an average mileage of 16.75kpl. The AMT version has a real-world average fuel efficiency of 15.90kpl. The fuel efficiency of the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine is yet to be tested.

Compared to the Venue, the Fronx is 35mm less wide, 115mm shorter, but has the same length and wheelbase. Compared to the Fronx, the Nexon is 39mm wider, 70mm taller, and has a 22mm larger wheelbase, while both compact SUVs have the same length.

The Fronx’s petrol engine is 7hp more powerful than the Venue and Sonet, but produces 13hp and 24Nm less than the Brezza. The Fronx’s petrol engine is 17hp and 17Nm more potent than the petrol engines of Magnite and Kiger.

The Maruti Fronx has the least powerful turbo-petrol engines in the segment. Its 1.0 Boosterjet mill is 20hp and 22Nm less than the Nexon’s, 20hp and 22Nm less than the Venue, Sonet and Syros, 31hp and 82Nm less than the XUV 3XO’s TGDi engine.
