I am planning to buy either a Hyundai Creta or a Kia Seltos with an overall budget of ₹20 lakh. Which one is the better option, or should I consider something entirely new?
I currently own an i20 Turbo DCT and am now looking to buy a 5-seater SUV. I’m confused between the Hyundai Creta King Turbo DCT and the new 2026 Kia Seltos GTX (A). Which one would be better, and are there any other options I should consider?
Both the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta are mechanically identical, so you can pick either one without any hesitation. That being said, Kia recently launched the new-gen Seltos, which has a more spacious cabin, more features and a comfier rear seat than the Creta.
Both SUVs are powered by the punchy 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that's paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Alternatively, if you love driving, the Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq might be worth considering. Both these SUVs come with a 150hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol with a 7-speed DCT gearbox and offer better handling than the Kia and Hyundai cars.
I am confused between the Sierra Pure 1.5 NA petrol MT and the Victoris VXI MT/AT. My priorities are safety and reliability, and my annual driving is around 8,000km. I have test-driven the Victoris AT and found it very smooth, but rear-seat headroom and shoulder room felt limited compared to the Sierra. Since the Sierra is a new model, I am unsure about its performance and long-term reliability. Please advise.
I am selling my current vehicle, a 2013 Ford EcoSport petrol automatic. My usage is about 1,000 km per month, with 80% in the city and 20% on highways. I have narrowed it down to the Maruti Brezza petrol automatic (6-AT), Hyundai Creta petrol 1.5 IVT, and Creta petrol automatic DCT. I am confused between IVT and AT transmissions - specifically, which is more reliable and hassle-free to maintain. I want to keep the vehicle for more than 10 years. My driving is relaxed and family-oriented, and I am 58 years old. Can you suggest which to choose?
Of the options on your shortlist, the Hyundai Creta IVT is the best. Hyundai's CVT (IVT as they market it) is excellent, delivering a smooth experience, especially in city driving. It's free from the rubberband effect (rapid rise in engine revs without a corresponding rise in road speed) that CVTs are notorious for. Also, it works well in sync with the engine and adapts well to your driving style.
Do note that, given that you want to keep the car for over 10 years, the Hyundai Creta that's towards the end of its life might not make the ideal choice. The new-gen Creta is about a year away, meaning opting for a current-gen car will have you miss the advancements made to all aspects of the model.
We suggest you consider the new Kia Seltos IVT, which shares its engine and gearbox with the Creta IVT. By virtue of being built on a new-gen platform and being larger in size, the Seltos IVT makes for a more wholesome package for similar money.
I am planning to buy a midsize SUV with a budget under ₹15 lakh. I have shortlisted the petrol variants of the Grand Vitara Delta and the Creta E, with aftermarket accessories for basic features. Please suggest which one I should choose.
I am planning to buy a new SUV. I am considering the Creta or Seltos, and if I look at a 7-seater, the XUV 7XO or Scorpio N. Which is better between the Creta and Seltos, and between the Scorpio N and XUV 7XO?
My budget is 15 lac. My yearly runing is 13000km.my first preference is comfort car with good mileage. Which is best car for me I like personally creta diesel or petrol, kaylaq signature variant. 90% bumper to bumper city drive,10 % highway runing. Please advise accordingly
Unfortunately, the Hyundai Creta will only be available in a base variant in your budget of Rs 15 lakh. The Skoda Kylaq Signature is an excellent option, offering superb ride comfort and a punchy engine.
While it can be fuel efficient, however, you have to drive very carefully to get the most mileage out of the 1.0 TSI engine. If fuel efficiency is a top priority, consider checking out the Hyundai Venue diesel. It's not quite as comfortable as the Kylaq but it will certainly deliver better mileage.
Hi, is the Skoda Kushaq a good vehicle? Do you have any other advice?
The Skoda Kushaq is a competent mid-sized SUV that stands out for its driving experience. Its 1.0 and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines deliver punchy performance, and handling is also slick and fun. The Kushaq also feels tough in its build and comes with the reassurance of strong safety ratings. On the flip side, the Kushaq feels smaller than many like-priced rivals and isn't ideal as a five-seater.
Skoda will introduce an updated version of the Kushaq later this month. We expect the model to get a few styling revisions outside and more features, too. It might include a panoramic sunroof and a segment-first rear seat massage function.
The updated Kushaq will also get an uprated air conditioner that will provide stronger cooling, which has been one of the model's weaknesses since launch. While the engine options will continue as is, the smaller engine's 6-speed automatic transmission is expected to make way for a more efficient 8-speed unit.
To sum up, the Kushaq should be on your list if a fun drive experience is a priority. If space, comfort and features are important, consider the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and Tata Sierra.
I live in Pune and am looking for an automatic car under ₹25 lakh in India that offers a strong engine, loaded features, and is well suited for mostly city driving with occasional highway use.
Since 80% of your driving will be in city conditions, a smooth driving experience is also something you must give due weightage to. The Kia Seltos IVT and Hyundai Creta IVT deliver that, and top our list of recommendations for you.
Sure, the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine's 115hp isn't great, but real-world performance is actually very nice with brisk acceleration and very smooth responses. The CVT (IVT, as Hyundai and Kia call the gearbox type) is also very smooth. Also, it is free from the rubberband effect (sharp rise in revs without a significant rise in road speed), which this type of gearbox is usually notorious for.
Of the two models, it's the new Kia Seltos that's the more wholesome package, offering more rear seat space and better ride comfort. Your budget allows you to go for a higher trim level, getting you lots of tech and comfort features.
