The Hyundai Aura comes with a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol that is also offered with a factory-fitted CNG kit. Power goes to the front wheels. As per our experts at Autocar India, the engine is smooth and refined and keeps up with traffic easily, though performance is not brisk.

Key facts for the Aura:

  • The 1,197cc petrol engine makes 83hp and 113.8Nm. On CNG, output drops to 69hp and 95.2Nm.
  • The petrol gets a 5-speed manual on most trims and a 5-speed AMT on the SX+, while the CNG version comes only with the manual.
  • It measures 3,995mm long, 1,680mm wide and 1,520mm tall, with a 2,450mm wheelbase.
  • The suspension uses MacPherson struts at the front and a coupled torsion beam at the rear, with disc brakes at the front and drums at the rear.
  • The S gets 15-inch dual-tone steel wheels, while the SX and SX(O) get 15-inch diamond-cut alloys.
  • The petrol tank holds 37 litres, and the boot offers 402 litres of space.
  • In our tests, the CNG version took 17.54 seconds to reach 100kph. It also took 14.29 seconds from 20 to 80kph in third gear and 23.7 seconds from 40 to 100kph in fourth.

Features are very awesome at this price; it is found difficult in other brands to get these features. For example, I always want when I sit in the back, I can adjust my window with a power button. Another thing I need when I sit not in the back is AC vent, which I am not getting in other brands at this price. And one more thing, the armrest at the back gives immense pleasure.

I purchased this car in 2021 and it was a great experience. Specially purchased for company fitted CNG and for good mileage. I have driven about 16000 km single-handed. It is a good car for those who care about mileage.

I bought the SCNG variant of the Aura. It's a fantastic car and very affordable. I was thrilled to find my favorite color, grey, available in this model, and the service experience was excellent.

This car is very good with great cargo space which is required for long drive. Mileage is good, but the AC is not so great. At high speeds of 120, the car is stable. This is a good vehicle.

Very good experience. Good car for corporate use. Driving a car is comfortable and enjoyable. It provides convenience, saves time and makes long distance travel easier. Aura is a smaller and cheaper sedan. In the long run, what matters is durability and good after-sales service and relations, which Hyundai is usually good at.

If the Verna fits into your budget, it is the better car. It is nicer to drive, more spacious, more comfortable and overall, it feels more premium. Opt for the Aura only if you need a more compact car, perhaps due to parking constraints.

The Hyundai Aura and i20 are powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol engine, which is refined, peppy and fuel-efficient. They also use the same smooth 5-speed manual gearbox with a light clutch and steering. Both of these Hyundai cars are equally easy to drive too.Go for the Aura if you need a big boot. Otherwise, the Hyundai i20 is the one to pick - it is well-built, its interior is nicer, the cabin is more spacious, and overall it is the better car. The Hyundai i20 price starts at Rs 6 lakh and goes up to Rs 11.59 lakh (ex-showroom).

I need an automatic sedan with a limited budget and essential features. I am confused between the Maruti Dzire and the Hyundai Aura for 90% city use.

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire is a better option than the Hyundai Aura. The Dzire is more spacious and comfortable, and its 1.2-litre petrol engine is a lot more efficient than the Aura's 1.2-litre petrol unit. Both compact sedans get an AMT gearbox, but the Dzire's unit is a bit nicer in the city. Feature-wise, both compact sedans offer a decent equipment list. But the Dzire has the advantage with wireless connectivity and a sunroof for a more premium experience. Moreover, the Dzire will hold its value a lot better, and it is the most economical car to own, especially for the city. The ride comfort is very good, the steering is light, and the efficiency is segment-best.
