While your concerns are valid, do note that all cars will see a mileage drop running on E20 petrol; it's just that E10 compliant cars like your 2021 Maruti Suzuki Brezza will see a relatively higher impact due to the engine not being calibrated for the fuel. As for which car to pick, since mileage is your maximum priority, we recommend the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Zeta (O). It remains the mileage king in its segment, and even when you factor in the efficiency drop, it will do better than the others you have shortlisted. Bear in mind, however, that it uses the same 1.5-litre petrol engine as your Brezza, so in terms of powertrain, it won't feel like much of an upgrade on that front. As for the new launches, the Grand Vitara may get a minor facelift later this year, but it will not really impact the overall ownership experience (or mileage), so we recommend going ahead and buying it now. The next-gen Hyundai Creta is not due until sometime in 2027.

Go ahead with the Kia Seltos HTK IVT. The Seltos is a very well-rounded product, and the HTK IVT is a sweet spot in the range with a good balance of features and value. The bigger point is that the Seltos and Creta are fundamentally very similar cars underneath, sharing the same platform, engines and gearboxes. The ownership experience between Hyundai and Kia is also broadly similar in terms of maintenance costs, service reach, reliability and resale value. There is no clear advantage to waiting for the new Creta from that perspective.The only reason to wait would be if you are specifically interested in the new Creta’s design, interior or feature set. But that is an unknown at this stage, and there is no guarantee it will be meaningfully better than the Seltos. In fact, the Seltos is already one of the most complete cars in the segment, and the IVT gearbox is smooth and well-suited to city driving.Given you are planning to keep the car for 8-10 years, it makes more sense to buy a proven product now rather than wait for an unknown. With a 20km daily city commute and around 10,000km a year, your usage is predominantly urban and not high enough to justify a diesel. The priority should be a smooth automatic, good fuel efficiency and ease of driving in traffic. Since you are upgrading from a Creta manual, the natural step up would be a midsize SUV with a reliable automatic gearbox.The Kia Seltos IVT petrol is the most sensible recommendation here.
