Hello Autocar, I want to replace my existing Chevrolet Sail diesel 1.3 with a new car. My daily commute is 40 km, covering both highway and city driving. I have shortlisted the Brezza ZXi and Victoris LXI petrol. Which one is more suitable for me? I am concerned about safety and mileage. Please suggest.

If you're okay with missing out on certain feel-good features like a sunroof, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris suits your needs better. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Victoris are both powered by the same 103hp, 1.5-litre petrol engine.
The Victoris petrol-MT has a claimed fuel efficiency of 21.18kpl, and what's nice is that it has received a full, 5-star safety rating from both Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP.

My budget is Rs 20 lakh. I am looking for an all-wheel-drive car as I frequently travel to the mountains and need a safe, comfortable and reliable family car. Safety, comfort and reliability are my top priorities.

There are not many AWD or 4x4 vehicles that meet all your requirements perfectly, but there are some to consider. Your best option is the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, the ZXI Plus AWD AT variant, although you will have to stretch your budget slightly.
It is a 5-star rated car from both Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP, so you're well covered on safety, and overall, it is a well equipped and comfortable family car. As a bonus, it comes with Maruti's renowned reliability and low running costs.
Alternatively, you could consider the Mahindra Thar Roxx, the MX5 2.2 Diesel MT 4x4 variant, which is also safe and offers more space and a more robust 4x4 system, but it's not as reliable or comfortable as the Maruti Suzuki.
Or you could look at the Maruti Suzuki Jimny, which is a capable off-roader and falls easily in your budget, but it is not as comfortable, and its small size makes it less practical as a family car.

I am looking to buy a new car in the 4m+ category. My annual running will be 25k+ km, with 80% highway and 20% city usage. I am open to CNG or diesel options. I want good features, and my budget is a maximum of Rs 16 lakh on road.

The new Maruti Suzuki Victoris VXi CNG variant will suit you well. Since most of your driving will be on the highway, the CNG tank being neatly tucked under the boot floor means you still get a good amount of boot space.
Despite being one above the base variant, this Maruti Suzuki car is well-equipped. You get a 7 inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with connected car tech, and it fits well within your budget, too.

I currently own a 2016 Celerio CNG VXi and want to buy a new manual petrol or CNG car. I drive 1,000-1,200 km monthly, about 80% in the city, so good boot space is important - I prefer Maruti CNG models and donโ€™t want a Tata. The car must have at least a 4-star safety rating, no sunroof, and a rear wiper/washer. My family dismissed the Tata and Skoda Kushaq but likes the Taigun Highline Plus, which is above our budget. Please suggest suitable options.

Given your requirements, you should consider the Maruti Suzuki Victoris CNG. The Victoris' CNG tank is mounted under the car, so you don't lose out on boot space.

It also gets all the features you want, and it has a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP. Maruti Suzuki Victoris price (CNG) ranges from Rs 11.50 lakh to Rs 14.72 lakh (ex-showroom).

I want to buy a new petrol automatic SUV in the next 2โ€“3 months. Iโ€™m deciding between the Tata Sierra, Maruti Victoris, Honda Elevate, and Toyota Hyryder. My driving split is roughly 70% city and 30% highway. Top priorities are passenger comfort and safety, with modern tech, low maintenance, and decent power. Which of these four is best for my needs?

Out of all the options you've listed, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris seems to be the best fit for you.

Since you drive majorly in the city, you'll appreciate the Victoris strong hybrid's refinement and efficiency, and it comes feature-packed with things like a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats and much more.

The Victoris is also comfortable for four passengers, and being a Maruti car, it'll be easy and affordable to maintain as well.

The Victoris has also received a full, 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP. It's worth noting, however, that we're yet to review the Tata Sierra, so stay tuned to our channels.

My average monthly commute is 1,200 km across highways and rural roads, and Iโ€™m torn between buying a Victoris or a Creta. Please advise.

Go for the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, which will not only be more fuel efficient than the Hyundai Creta, but it also has the nicer-tuned, more absorbent suspension, making it more suited to drive over bad roads. The Creta is a touch more spacious and will be more comfortable if you travel with 5 adults regularly. If not, the Victoris seems to fit your needs better.

Asked by: Abhijit Dattaon Nov 27, 2025

Which car should I choose for an approximate monthly running of 3,000 km across both highway and city roads - Victoris, Sierra, or is there a better option? Please advise. Regards, Abhijit Datta

The Tata Sierra looks very promising, but we have yet to drive it. We would thus recommend you wait until we release our drive review, which will be in mid-December.

As for the Maruti Victoris, it is a well-rounded product and, compared to the Sierra, offers a strong hybrid engine option. However, boot space here is limited due to the large battery in the back, and it also does not have a spare tyre on any variant.

I am 55 years old and planning to buy a new car under โ‚น15 lakh. I can extend my budget up to โ‚น17 lakh. I will be driving around 30 km daily in Bangalore city traffic, along with one long drive of up to 1,000 km every month. I prefer a car with good safety and the best possible mileage in city traffic. Please suggest a car that meets my requirements.

You can consider the new Maruti Suzuki Victoris petrol-automatic for its smoothness and well-rounded nature. The VXI AT variant should fall within your budget. Not only does this Maruti Suzuki car pack all the safety features you'd expect at this price, but it has also been awarded a 5-star score by Bharat NCAP for its crashworthiness. Moreover, Maruti's 1.5 petrol is known to be quite fuel efficient.
You could also consider the Honda Elevate V CVT for its seamless drive experience.

I want to buy a new car. My monthly running is around 4,000 km. Which option will be more budget-friendly for me, EV or hybrid? I am currently driving a Swift Dzire diesel. Please suggest which car I should buy.

If you have access to home charging and there's a good network of EV chargers around you, an electric car makes sense as it will give you lower running costs than hybrid or ICE vehicles. But if you don't have consistent access to EV chargers and you frequent road trips, you'd find more value in a strong hybrid.
Since your running is so high, you'll appreciate a strong hybrid's frugal nature as well. As for your options, there are currently three strong hybrid midsize SUVs on sale that all share the same powertrain - the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
If you want a sedan, there's the Honda City e:HEV, or if you want an MPV, there's the Toyota Innova HyCross and the Maruti Suzuki Invicto.

My local city driving is almost 800 km every month. I go on a 2,500 km intercity highway drive every three months. I am looking for a suitable replacement for my Ford EcoSport TDCI. I have shortlisted the Maruti (Grand Vitara/Victoris) and the Toyota (Urban Cruiser Hyryder), but I am confused. Please suggest a car that is reliable, fuel-efficient, and has good maintenance support nationwide. I am looking for a perfect replacement for the Ford EcoSport, if one exists.

With an annual usage close to 20,000km, it is better to opt for the hybrid versions of the options you've shortlisted. Not only will these be very fuel-efficient, but their electric motors make these cars feel very peppy and responsive too.
The Maruti Suzuki Victoris is the newest car and, being backed by Maruti's widespread network, maintenance and support should be a hassle-free experience. The only differentiating factor between the Victoris and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is styling, as well as some small features, like their touchscreen and audio systems, the Victoris' being a bit superior.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is merely a badge-engineered Grand Vitara, but it gets brown interiors, while the Victoris and Grand Vitara get black interiors. This, along with its styling, could be taken into consideration while deciding between the three. Either way, all three share their powertrain and most other components, and you won't go wrong with either.
