Maruti has taken the wraps off its second midsize SUV, the Victoris, and has revealed nearly every detail about the model, other than the prices. Among the details now known is Victoris’ mileage figure. Incidentally, the Victoris shares its powertrain options with the Maruti Grand Vitara and the Toyota Hyryder, but has a higher ARAI fuel-efficiency figure.

Despite having the same powertrain options and a similar kerb weight range (1,145-1,305kg), the Maruti Victoris is generally more efficient than its sibling, the Grand Vitara, and its badge-engineered rival, the Toyota Hyryder. This makes the Victoris the highest-mileage car currently on sale in India. Even the CNG-equipped Victoris posts a better ARAI mileage than the respective Grand Vitara and Hyryder CNG models. Interestingly, the Victoris AWD is marginally less efficient than the equivalent Hyryder and Grand Vitara AWD variants.
Maruti Victoris engine options
Same 103hp mild-hybrid petrol, 88hp CNG and 116hp strong-hybrid powertrains as Grand Vitara
As we’ve been reporting, the Victoris has the same engine and gearbox options as the Grand Vitara and Hyryder. All three midsize SUVs share the 103hp, 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine, the 88hp CNG option, and the 116hp strong-hybrid unit. The 103hp engine comes with 5-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic options, with the Victoris petrol-AT also getting an AWD option. Meanwhile, the Victoris CNG has a 5-speed manual only, and the hybrid SUV sends power to the front wheels via an e-CVT.
