    I am looking to buy a new car in the 4m+ category. My annual running will be 25k+ km, with 80% highway and 20% city usage. I am open to CNG or diesel options. I want good features, and my budget is a maximum of Rs 16 lakh on road.

    The new Maruti Suzuki Victoris VXi CNG variant will suit you well. Since most of your driving will be on the highway, the CNG tank being neatly tucked under the boot floor means you still get a good amount of boot space.
    Despite being one above the base variant, this Maruti Suzuki car is well-equipped. You get a 7 inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with connected car tech, and it fits well within your budget, too.

    Asked by: Manish I am confused between the Kia Sonet Petrol Turbo DCT and the Nissan Magnite Turbo CVT. Which one should I consider buying? The Kia Sonet and Nissan Magnite make for nice options, and each has its own strengths. The Kia Sonet has a far more upmarket interior, more features and is more powerful too. The dual-clutch gearbox is quick but does tend to fumble in low city speeds.The Nissan Magnite CVT is lower in price and is actually the roomier vehicle, especially in terms of rear seat comfort. Updates for 2025 have made the interior nicer, too, though it's still not quite as nice as a Sonet's. The Magnite's turbo engine and CVT gearbox work well together, making the Nissan a well-rounded package for the money.

Which car would be the best choice for me? If a 7-seater is not possible in this budget, which 5-seater would be the best in terms of mileage, boot space, and low maintenance? It may not be very glamorous, but one of our favourite seven-seaters is the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, which is very practical, reliable and suits your budget. The 1.5-litre engine is not very exciting, but paired to a smooth 6-speed automatic, it is easy to drive. With all seven seats in place, there is very little boot space, but of course, with the third row tucked away, it can comfortably carry five passengers with their luggage. Being the owner of a Maruti Dzire, you will be familiar with the Maruti Suzuki service experience, which should give you added confidence.

I am considering the Invicto Zeta Plus with year-end discounts, the HyCross GX, and the XEV 9S. My buying motivators are Comfort, build-to-last quality and low maintenance, as I will be keeping it for a long time. Which one should I choose? Since the majority of your driving is on the highway, we would rule out the Mahindra XEV 9S, as public charging infrastructure is not yet fully developed on the highway. The Maruti Suzuki Invicto and Toyota Innova HyCross are fundamentally the same cars, which are both very spacious and comfortable.Besides, they are very reliable too and promise to give you a hassle-free ownership experience throughout their lifecycle with you. The non-hybrid 1.5 petrol variants aren’t very powerful for highway use, but they do the job as a relaxed commuter. Between the Invicto and the HyCross, we would choose the HyCross as it has better resale value, thanks to the lure of the Toyota badge.

What should I buy? For your budget of 3 lakh, the previous-generation Hyundai Grand i10 would be a good all-rounder. The car has enough space, decent performance and is well equipped too with some nice-to-have features like a rear camera, automatic climate control, and steering-mounted audio controls.
