Tata Motors has launched the much-awaited ‘Tata Magic IRIS’, a four-wheel, 3-4 seater small passenger carrier and the ‘Tata Ace Zip’, a small truck with a payload of 600kg for door-to-door goods movement.

The Magic IRIS has an all-steel body with hard top and double steel sheet doors that aims to offer all-round protection from the weather. Equipped with a 611cc, water cooled engine with 11bhp power, the IRIS comes with 12 inch radial tyres. The vehicle will cost Rs 1.95 lakh, ex-Thane, Mumbai. Tata Motors sells close to 5,000 Magics every month.

The Ace Zip is aimed at intra-city cargo movement, and has features like retractable seat belts and a sturdy all steel cabin. It comes with a warranty of 36000km/ 12-month, whichever is earlier. The BSIII version will cost Rs 1.90 lakh, ex showroom Thane (without octroi). The Ace has been a top seller for the company in the under one-tonne segment selling over 10,000 units a month.

P M Telang, managing director - India Operations, Tata Motors, said, “With the introduction of the Tata Magic IRIS and the Tata Ace Zip the company will more comprehensively address the increasing need of public transportation and goods movement. Their quality, affordable pricing and competitive maintenance cost throughout the life-cycle will further foster self-employment in the country.”
