I have a budget of ₹50 lakh on-road and need a comfortable 7-seater car. Which one should I buy?

There aren't many choices in the Rs 50 lakh range for seven-seater cars, but there are a few options to consider. If the third-row space is not critical and will only be used occasionally for short trips, the best seven-seater for your budget is the Skoda Kodiaq. It drives exceptionally well, thanks to a smooth and strong turbocharged petrol engine, as well as good handling.

The cabin is well-equipped and feels pretty premium, too. You could also consider the Volkswagen Tayron. It will be launched next month and is in the same league as the Kodiaq, though the price has not been announced yet.

If third row comfort and all-around space are your priority, then Innova Hycross hybrid is your best option. But, it is a step down from the Kodiaq, and Tayron. Being a hybrid, you will find it exceptionally smooth, especially when it runs in full electric mode.

I am looking to replace my old Honda CR-V, which can no longer be used in Delhi. Since Honda has discontinued the CR-V, what would be an ideal replacement under ₹60 lakh on-road in Delhi?

The ideal replacements for your Honda CR-V would be the Skoda Kodiaq and the upcoming Volkswagen Tayron. The closely related models (they are built on the same platform) are premium SUVs with upmarket cabins, plenty of features and the flexibility of a third row of seats. What will make them all the more appealing to you is the driving experience they offer. The 204hp, 2-litre turbo-petrol engine that powers them is punchy while the 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox is also quick to shift, and very likeable.
The two SUVs are fundamentally the same but differ in design and styling outside and inside. We expect the Volkswagen Tayron to launch by late January 2026.

I am looking for a 7-seater SUV with a budget of around ₹70 lakh. Please suggest the best option, or should I wait for a year for more choices?

Rs 70 lakh is a substantial budget for a 7-seat SUV, but the sad reality is that there aren't too many options for the money. The charming Land Rover Discovery Sport is the closest in terms of price, but third-row space, comfort, and access are poor.
You could look at options a few rungs down the price ladder. The Skoda Kodiaq, for one, is a great SUV that scores for its premium feel, but, again, third-row space isn't great. Likewise, Volkswagen Tayron, which will go on sale in the coming months, also promises a premium vibe but is unlikely to offer great room at the very back. If third-row space isn't critical, we'd suggest you look at the Skoda and Volkswagen cars
Another upcoming option is the MG Majestor, expected in 2026. It's a large SUV that promises generous space even for third-row passengers. The Majestor will be well-equipped, packing in lots of creature comforts, and the body-on-frame construction should also lend it a tough appeal. However, we will only be able to comment on the driving experience once we get behind the wheel of the SUV when it arrives in 2026.

Hey, I have been driving a Seltos diesel manual for the last 6 years and am planning to exchange it for a petrol automatic car. I am interested in the Volkswagen brand because of its strong build and engine quality. I am not interested in Maruti Suzuki due to concerns about engine performance, automatic gearboxes, and service experience. Please suggest which brand and model I should consider for my new car, and also where I can get a good rate for my old car.

It’s true that Volkswagen cars are well-built and have strong engines. We don’t know your budget, but assuming you want a Kia Seltos replacement, the Volkswagen Taigun with the 1.5 TSI and 7-speed DCT is a good option.

It is rapid, feels sporty and stable, and has all the characteristics you are looking for in a Volkswagen. If you can extend your budget to around Rs. 40 lakh, then it might be worthwhile waiting for the Volkswagen Tayron, which is a seven-seater and is expected before March 2026.
