Questions you may find useful
Hi Team, I have a budget of around Rs 14 lakh and am looking to buy a compact SUV with a diesel engine. I am considering the Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV 3XO, but my usage will be occasional. Would you recommend either of these, and should I opt for a manual or automatic transmission? Are there any other alternatives worth considering, preferably at a lower budget? Kindly share your suggestions. Thanks in advance!
The decision for an automatic or manual really comes down to your driving conditions. It its a lot of traffic that you have in and around your area then go with an automatic and save yourself the hassle. If however this isn't the case opt for a manual as this will enable you to get a higher variant and thus more convenience features at your budget. The Tata Nexon would suit you just fine and the Pure Plus variant of the diesel automatic would fit nicely within your budget. If you do want more in terms of power and space then opt for the Mahindra XUV 3XO instead, as it has a wider rear seat and a slighly more powerful and refined engine too.
I’m planning to buy a 2026 Tata Nexon Pure+ S Manual (petrol). My daily driving will be around 32-38 km. Since I believe in safety primarily, should I buy it?
The Tata Nexon is one of the most value for money offerings in its segment, and because this second-gen Nexon has been around for a while now, the 2026 iteration feels the most mature version till date. The car is tough, its cabin is spacious and it gives the driver ample confidence at any speed. Before going ahead do keep in mind that its engine isn't the smoothest or the most refined in its segment. Also, an all-new generation of the Nexon will be launched in the second half of 2027. That said, if you like the current Nexon for what it offers, go for it.
Hi, I am planning to buy an EV with an on-road price within ₹20 lakhs. Can I consider the ZS EV? My daily commute is around 50-60 km, including 30-35 km of highway driving, with the rest being city driving. I need a spacious car with a good interior. I don’t like the Curvv or Windsor designs. I currently use a Nexon petrol, which I like.
The MG ZS EV is a strong fit for your requirements if it is the discounted car under Rs 20 lakh on road. Your daily 50 to 60km commute, including 30 to 35km on the highway, is well suited to an electric car, and this MG car offers a more premium cabin and a roomier feel than your current Tata Nexon petrol. Since you dislike the Tata Curvv and MG Windsor designs, there's little reason to force yourself towards either. The current ZS EV has a 50.3kWh battery and a real world range of around 340km. Its comfortable ride and conventional SUV styling make it a sensible upgrade, while the main drawback is that it is an ageing model, with a replacement reportedly expected around 2027.That could affect resale value, but the discount can help offset the risk.
I am planning to buy a car and am confused between the Tata Nexon CNG and Kia Sonet. My running is irregular and does not exceed around 500km a month. Which would be the better choice?
With a monthly running of around 500km, a CNG car like the Tata Nexon CNG does not make financial sense. The fuel savings from CNG are only meaningful when running is significantly higher, and at your usage level, the additional cost and inconvenience of CNG ownership are not justified. The Kia Sonet is the better choice here. It is a more refined and well-rounded product, with a smoother petrol engine, better overall ownership experience and no compromises on boot space or convenience. The Nexon is a good product in its own right, but CNG only makes sense when running is high enough to offset the additional cost and inconvenience. At 500km a month, petrol is the sensible choice.
My city commute is in Pune or Hyderabad, with around 250 km of city driving and 800-1,000 km of highway driving per month. I have shortlisted the Tata Nexon CNG, Punch CNG, and Altroz diesel, but I’m not sure which one to choose. I am concerned about fuel economy, but I’m worried that I might face difficulties if CNG is not available. That is why I considered diesel, although I’m also unsure about its future. I enjoy driving, just FYI. Please let me know which car would be a better choice for my needs.
Go for the Tata Altroz diesel. Your running is high enough to justify a diesel, and the Altroz diesel is one of the few genuinely efficient and enjoyable small diesels left on the market. This Tata car delivers strong fuel economy on the highway, has a punchy mid-range for overtaking, and is genuinely enjoyable to drive on open roads. Diesel availability is not a concern, and with your kind of running, the fuel savings will add up quickly.CNG makes sense only if you have reliable access to filling stations along your regular routes. If you are already worried about availability, it is not worth the compromise. The Nexon and Punch CNG are both good cars, but the inconvenience of planning refuelling stops will quickly outweigh the savings. The Altroz diesel is also a well-rounded car with a comfortable ride, good safety credentials and a solid ownership experience. It is the most sensible and enjoyable choice for your usage pattern.
