We like
Spacious and comfortable cabin

We don't like
Sluggish engine response
High ground clearance makes cabin access cumbersome
8.0
The MG Majestor gets major exterior revisions over the Gloster, including a larger grille, vertically stacked LED headlamps, redesigned front and rear bumpers and new connected tail-lamps. The premium full-size SUV also gets more blacked-out detailing and chunkier styling elements that give it a more rugged and modern appearance. Despite sharing its ladder-frame SUV underpinnings with the Gloster, the Majestor looks noticeably more premium and SUV-like in its overall stance and proportions. The SUV measures over 5 metres in length, which contributes heavily to its strong road presence and gives it the visual appeal expected from a premium 7-seater SUV.
9.0
Inside, the Majestor gets significant updates to the dashboard and cabin layout. The feature-loaded SUV now features dual 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster, along with ventilated and massage seats, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting and wireless charging. MG has also redesigned the centre console with rotary controls for the 4WD system and additional storage spaces. Cabin space continues to be one of its strongest points, especially in the second row, while the third row remains more usable than several rivals in the premium family SUV segment.
7.0
Powering the Majestor is the same 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine producing 215hp and 479Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Performance feels strong once the engine is in its powerband, and the diesel SUV delivers effortless highway cruising ability with strong overtaking performance. However, the review highlights that turbo lag below 2,000rpm is still noticeable, while the gearbox can occasionally feel slow to respond during sudden throttle inputs. Refinement levels are good overall, and the engine remains fairly insulated from the cabin during long-distance cruising.
8.0
Ride comfort remains one of the Majestorโs biggest strengths. The suspension absorbs rough roads and broken surfaces very well, helping the SUV feel comfortable even on poor road conditions. MG has widened the track and revised parts of the suspension setup, which improves stability and composure at highway speeds. Despite weighing well over 2 tonnes, the Majestor feels reasonably easy to drive because of its light steering and commanding visibility. Body roll is present during quick direction changes, but the SUV is clearly tuned more for comfort and long-distance touring than sporty handling.
6.0
MG hasnโt quoted any official fuel efficiency figures yet, and we didnโt test it on our short drive. However, given that the powertrain hasnโt changed much, we donโt expect it to be too far from the 8.4kpl city and 10.8kpl highway efficiency we recorded in the Gloster. These are modest figures for a 2.0-litre diesel, but remember it is hauling a 2.5-tonne behemoth. At least the 75-litre fuel tank will give it a good cruising range.
9.0
Safety equipment on the Majestor includes multiple airbags, electronic stability control, traction control and a comprehensive Level 2 ADAS suite. Features such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist and blind spot monitoring improve both safety and long-distance driving convenience. The SUV also gets a 360-degree camera system and several electronic driver assistance systems aimed at improving confidence both on and off the road.
8.0
Priced between Rs 40.99 lakh and Rs 44.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the MG Majestor offers a strong combination of luxury, space, comfort and genuine off-road capability. The premium ladder-frame SUV improves upon the Gloster with more premium styling, additional technology and significantly upgraded off-road hardware. While the turbo lag and gearbox responsiveness still leave room for improvement, the Majestor stands out as a feature-rich Toyota Fortuner rival while offering a more spacious and tech-loaded experience.

MG Majestor FAQs
The Majestor is suited for customers looking for a premium three-row SUV, along with having rugged off-roading abilities.
If your drives mainly include paved surfaces, the 4X2 (two-wheel drive) variant will make more sense. Unlike the 4x4 (four-wheel drive) variant, it also offers a 6-seater option. The 4x4 version is for those who plan to go off-road regularly.
The Majestor's ride quality is remarkably good for a ladder-frame SUV. Its soft suspension setup also leads to an absorbent ride.
The interior of the MG Majestor is quite spacious. The third row easily is the most comfortable in its segment.
A spacious, comfortable and feature-rich cabin, and great ride quality are the MG Majestor's X-Factors.

โข1wI'm upgrading from a 2021 Tata Safari adventure edition. I loved its looks, engine and middle row comfort. But, now I'm looking for a 7-seater car in the 40-50 lakh range (ex-showroom). The rear-most seats don't have to be very spacious, as I mostly fold them for boot space and occasionally carry a 6th passenger. I need a strong engine, good comfort for the first two rows and decently kitted out. A good speaker system is a must. I will use this car only for outstation trips. I prefer diesel cars with good road presence, but if other options are compelling, I will consider them too.

Autocar India
While your preference is for a diesel, we suggest you consider the Skoda Kodiaq, which is a petrol-only model. Its 2-litre turbo-petrol engine is strong and punchy, and the SUV's good high-speed stability makes it a great road trip car. The third row is tight on space, but this shouldn't be a deal breaker given your occasional use of the last row. With the last row down, the Kodiaq offers loads of room for luggage. The Kodiaq is also well kitted out, and you'll like the sound quality from the Canton sound system. Do note, fuel economy isn't great in town, but the Kodiaq returns reasonable numbers on highway drives. If a diesel is a must, the new MG Majestor is an option for you. It's a size or two larger than your Tata Safari and scores big for road presence. The large size also means the Majestor is big on space. Performance is good, and there are also loads of features packed in. The only question mark for now is the price, but we expect it to be within your budget.

โข8wI currently drive a Jeep Compass Model S Petrol, and my annual driving includes 5,000km in the mountains, 5,000km on highways, and 5,000km in Delhi NCR. I am looking for a bigger 7-8 seater SUV with more premium features that can accommodate a baby seat along with six additional passengers.

Autocar India
Check out the Volkswagen Tayron and Skoda Kodiaq, which are both new-generation models that have recently been launched. They represent a significant upgrade in terms of not just size but performance and refinement as well, compared to your Jeep Compass. They're essentially the same car underneath, with the same powertrain and mechanical makeup, though they have some features and design differences.Crucially, the Skoda Kodiaq is offered in a few different variants, while the Tayron comes in just one fully-loaded version - though we hear lower trim levels will be introduced in time. The 204hp 2.0-litre petrol is incredibly strong and smooth, and there's AWD as standard, which should serve you well on your mountain drives. Space in the third row is not great, but it will suffice with some adjustment. Both SUVs can, however, accommodate child seats. If you want a more spacious 7-seater and you don't mind a diesel engine, check out the upcoming MG Majestor, which is an even larger vehicle.

โข9wPlanning to buy the Innova HyCross hybrid top model, but I just saw videos of the MG Gloster. Is the Gloster worth it if the budget increases, and how efficient is it in terms of mileage?

Autocar India
If your primary focus is efficiency, comfort and ease of ownership, the Toyota Innova HyCross hybrid top model remains the better choice. It delivers significantly better real-world mileage, especially in city conditions, and offers a smoother, more refined driving experience. It is also easier to drive and manage on a daily basis due to its size and more car-like nature. The MG Gloster (now transitioning towards the newer Majestor) is a very different proposition. It is a much larger, ladder-frame SUV with a strong diesel engine and proper 4x4 capability, which makes it better suited for rough terrain, long highway runs with a full load, or if you specifically want a more commanding road presence. However, this comes at the cost of efficiency, as it will return significantly lower mileage compared to the Hycross, especially in city driving. It is also a bigger vehicle to manage in everyday use.So the decision comes down to your priority. If mileage, comfort and hassle-free ownership matter most, the HyCross hybrid is the clear choice. But if you value size, road presence and off-road capability, and are okay with lower efficiency, then the Gloster or the upcoming Majestor can be worth considering.

โข14wI am looking to upgrade my current car, and my choices are the XUV 7XO and the MG Majestor, which Iโm guessing would be almost twice as expensive as the 7XO. I have always been a fan of the Endeavour, so I thought the Majestor would tick those boxes, but Iโm unsure if itโs worth the wait.

Autocar India
The MG Majestor will sit in a completely different league compared to the Mahindra XUV 7XO, and yes, it is expected to be almost twice as expensive. Early indications suggest an on-road price of around Rs 50 lakh, with a formal price announcement expected next month. It would make sense to wait for that, because pricing will ultimately determine how compelling it really is.From our brief drive, the MG Majestor feels like a significant step forward over the MG Gloster it effectively replaces. Itโs more polished, the cabin feels properly premium, and thereโs a real sense of space and road presence. In fact, the interior ambience and equipment levels feel a notch above both the Ford Endeavour and the Toyota Fortuner. If what you loved about the Endeavour was that big, imposing, body-on-frame SUV feel with a commanding driving position, the Majestor should tick many of those boxes. The Mahindra XUV 7XO, on the other hand, plays in a very different space. Itโs not as large or as imposing, but in its segment, it is genuinely impressive. For its price, it offers strong performance, good driving dynamics, generous space for its footprint and a surprisingly plush, well-finished interior. It feels modern, easy to live with and far more manageable in everyday urban use.So the real question is what you want from your upgrade. If youโre chasing that full-size SUV presence and are willing to pay for it, the Majestor is worth waiting for, at least until the price is revealed. If the pricing stretches beyond what feels reasonable, the XUV 7XO remains a brilliant, well-rounded option that delivers a lot of car for the money, even if it doesnโt have the same size or road presence.

โข14wI am planning to buy a new car, preferably a diesel. My daily driving is approximately 100 km in the city. I am currently driving a Toyota Fortuner 4x2 AT and am now considering upgrading to either a sedan or an SUV. My maximum budget is around โน50 lakh (net) after exchanging my current vehicle. Could you please suggest a suitable vehicle in this budget that would be comfortable for daily usage and long-term ownership? Regards, Jitender

Autocar India
You should check out a luxury SUV such as the Mercedes-Benz GLC or BMW X3, which will feel like a good upgrade to your Toyota Fortuner. They might not be as large, but given that your driving is in the city, this shouldn't be too much of a problem. They have sophisticated and refined petrol and diesel engine options, high-quality cabins and lots of features. Plus, they will be considerably more comfortable and easier to drive than the Fortuner. If you simply must have more space and size than the Fortuner, then consider the MG Majestor, which will be launching very soon. It's unclear how much you will get in exchange for your Fortuner, but assuming it is not too old, big Toyotas tend to hold their value well, so these SUVs should fit in your budget.

โข15wNew SUV budget โน50 lakh. Is the Fortuner being launched in the next couple of months?

Autocar India
The new Fortuner will not be launched until the end of the year and may even spill over into 2027. Hence, you may want to go ahead with the current Toyota Fortuner. Alternatively, if you want something similar, the recently launched MG Majestor, which is also a tough 4x4 with a strong diesel engine, is a good option. If you want something a bit more refined and not as hardcore, the Skoda Kodiaq is worth looking at too.

โข22wI am looking for a 7-seater SUV with a budget of around โน70 lakh. Please suggest the best option, or should I wait for a year for more choices?

Autocar India
Rs 70 lakh is a substantial budget for a 7-seat SUV, but the sad reality is that there aren't too many options for the money. The charming Land Rover Discovery Sport is the closest in terms of price, but third-row space, comfort, and access are poor. You could look at options a few rungs down the price ladder. The Skoda Kodiaq, for one, is a great SUV that scores for its premium feel, but, again, third-row space isn't great. Likewise, Volkswagen Tayron, which will go on sale in the coming months, also promises a premium vibe but is unlikely to offer great room at the very back. If third-row space isn't critical, we'd suggest you look at the Skoda and Volkswagen cars. Another upcoming option is the MG Majestor, expected in 2026. It's a large SUV that promises generous space even for third-row passengers. The Majestor will be well-equipped, packing in lots of creature comforts, and the body-on-frame construction should also lend it a tough appeal. However, we will only be able to comment on the driving experience once we get behind the wheel of the SUV when it arrives in 2026.

โข33wHi, I travel around 3,000 km a month, with 80% on highways at speeds of 100โ120 km/h. I am looking to buy an EV and can set up a home charger. The options I have narrowed down to are: MG ZS EV top model โ an older car, but is it still worth it? MG Windsor Pro EV top model Tata Nexon EV top model Which of these should I go for?

Autocar India
Weโd rule out the MG Windsor Pro EV first. Itโs more of a city-focused EV, and its highway manners arenโt ideal. The ride is firm, and there is noticeable road noise, which can be tiring over long distances. The Tata Nexon EV is capable on highways, but its real-world range still falls short of the MG ZS EVโs. An important factor if you cover long distances and occasionally rely on public chargers. The MG ZS EV, though slightly older, remains the best option for your usage. It offers stronger performance, a more comfortable long-distance ride, better range, and a more spacious, premium cabin that feels a class above the others. Since it has been on sale for a while, you should also be able to negotiate a decent discount.
