The Maruti Suzuki Celerio uses a 998cc, three-cylinder K10C DualJet petrol engine that makes 68.5PS at 5,600rpm and 91.1Nm at 3,400rpm. It is paired with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT and drives the front wheels. The CNG version makes about 57hp and 82Nm and comes only with the manual.

Key facts for the Celerio:

The car measures 3,695mm long, 1,655mm wide and 1,555mm tall on a 2,435mm wheelbase, with 170mm of ground clearance.
Kerb weight is 820kg for the ZXi manual and 830kg for the ZXi AMT, and gross vehicle weight is 1,260kg.
Boot space is 292 litres, and the rear seat splits 60:40 from the VXi up.
The petrol tank holds 32 litres, and the CNG version has a 60-litre (water equivalent) tank.
It has MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam at the rear, with front disc and rear drum brakes. Steering is electrically assisted and adjusts for tilt only.
The ZXi runs 165/70 R14 tyres, while the ZXi+ gets 15-inch alloy wheels on 175/60 R15 tyres and a full-size spare.
Six airbags (dual front, side and curtain), ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors and a 3-point belt for the rear-middle seat are standard. Front and rear seatbelt reminders are also fitted, and the car has a 3-star Global NCAP rating.
The AMT versions add hill-hold assist.
The 7-inch SmartPlay Studio touchscreen comes on the ZXi+ with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, smartphone navigation and voice commands. It has steering-mounted audio and voice controls.
Push-button starts with a smart key and a height-adjustable driver's seat on the ZXi+, and remote keyless entry starts from the ZXi.
The ZXi and ZXi+ get a four-speaker audio system with Bluetooth, and the ZXi+ has electrically foldable mirrors with turn indicators.
The car seats five and has five doors. It comes in seven colours.
Two things the car doesn't have on any variant are a rear camera and automatic climate control.

I own Maruti Suzuki celerio ZXI model 2014. Till today running very smooth.Engine is fine.No repairing required,except some body denting done.I am quite happy with this car.

Better to go for the Maruti Suzuki Celerio if you like the look. Its engine is the same as the Alto K10.

Go for the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R 1.2 AMT. As a first-time buyer in Noida with a Rs 5-9 lakh budget, the Wagon R is the most sensible choice. This Maruti Suzuki car is extremely easy to drive, has a tall-boy design that gives you excellent visibility and a comfortable seating position, and offers genuinely good space for a small family. The AMT is smooth enough for city use, and Maruti’s service network and low maintenance costs make ownership hassle-free. It is also one of the most fuel-efficient cars in the segment, which keeps running costs low.The Tata Tiago AMT is the better car to drive, with a more solid feel and better ride quality, but it does not match the Wagon R for ease of ownership, service reach or fuel efficiency. The Celerio AMT is also a good option, but the Wagon R’s taller cabin, more powerful 1.2-litre engine option and better rear seat space make it the more practical choice. On E20, there is no need to worry. All new cars are engineered to handle E20 fuel, and while you may see a slight drop in fuel efficiency, it will not ruin the engine. The impact is minor and not a reason to avoid buying a new car.

I recently purchased a Hyundai Venue HX8 DCT and now want to replace my 10-year-old Hyundai i20 Magna Manual. Since E20 fuel is becoming standard, I am looking for a small, budget-friendly, E20-compliant car that is reliable for Kolkata’s heavy city traffic and can handle potholes and waterlogged roads well. My budget is under Rs. 7.5 lakh. The options I’m considering are the Renault Kwid Climber, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Sportz, Tata Tiago Pure Plus, and Maruti Suzuki Celerio ZXi. I am also open to better suggestions if there are any.

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Sportz is the best fit for your requirements. It is E20-compliant, well-built and has a proven track record for reliability, which is important given your 10-year ownership experience with Hyundai. The Nios also offers a comfortable ride and good ground clearance for a hatchback, making it better suited for your requirements. The Tata Tiago is a strong alternative with a robust suspension setup, but Hyundai’s service network and ownership experience give the Nios the edge. The Kwid Climber is the most affordable option, but it does not feel as refined or as well put together as the Hyundai or Tata car. The Celerio is reliable and efficient, but it does not feel as premium as the Tata or the Hyundai. If you are open to a slightly higher budget, the Tata Punch mid variants are worth considering for their higher ground clearance and tougher suspension. Still, within your Rs 7.5 lakh limit, the Grand i10 Nios Sportz is the most balanced and dependable choice.

I currently own a used Maruti Suzuki Celerio VXi Manual, which I have been driving for the past six years. I am now planning to sell it and buy a used sub-4-metre SUV. Since I do not drive very frequently, I do not want to spend too much on a brand-new car. My budget is around Rs. 8-9 lakh. Do you think buying a used compact SUV is a good idea?
