Maruti Suzuki Baleno Specifications - User Reviews
The XEV9S is the best option for a 6 to 7 seater. The second row of seats can be moved to adjust space for passengers. Range, pick up, features, and interior quality are top notch.
I switched to a Baleno AGS from a nearby NEXA and they have an excellent service.
I own the Baleno and you won't get any problems with it. You'll really enjoy its performance and ownership.
The Baleno still has a 4-cylinder engine, and mileage is not an issue. It feels a tad bit premium and youthful, and it's easy to maintain with all-black upholstery.
The Maruti Baleno is easy to drive, fuel-efficient, comfortable, and inexpensive to maintain. It's an excellent choice for a first car.

My driving is around 800 km a month. I am not sure which one would be more value for money: Swift or Baleno/Glanza. Currently, I drive an Urban Cruiser but am looking for a change. My priority is ease of city driving, comfort on highway drives, and I will go for an AMT. The more fuel-efficient and safe, the better. Though safety and efficiency do not go hand in hand. Please help me decide.

autocar.india
The Swift's 1.2L 3-cylinder petrol engine is very drivable and is likely to deliver slightly better fuel efficiency compared to the Baleno's/Glanza's 1.2L 4-cylinder unit. The Maruti Suzuki Swift is quite peppy up to 60kph of speed, after which you will find performance to be a bit lacklustre. And since you've mentioned you want a car for city and highway usage both, we recommend you opt for the Baleno or Glanza instead, for its more effortless performance. There's little to choose between the Baleno and Toyota Glanza, as both are nearly identical. Though the Glanza's beige-black interior colour scheme looks a touch more upmarket than the Maruti's.

"Hey, I'm stuck between the Maruti Baleno zeta or alpha, Tata Punch adventure, and Honda Amaze vx - all with automatics. I'm looking for good safety features, decent mileage, and low maintenance costs, with durability being a top priority. My current ride's a WagonR automatic. Any advice?" My monthly drive is 2500-3000km

autocar.india
Given how much you drive, you'd be happiest with the Honda Amaze CVT. It's got the most sophisticated gearbox and its smoothness will have a big bearing on your drive experience. The Amaze offers ample safety features and its reassuring to know that its a 5 star Bharat NCAP-rated model. Hondas are easy to maintain, very reliable and will not give trouble for years. Do note, the Amaze CVT is decent on fuel economy but won't be as fuel efficient as the other two that use simpler AMT gearboxes. If fuel economy is a key priority, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno AGS is your best bet.

Hello, I have a Baleno Delta petrol 2021 model, and now I want to change/upgrade to a car equally or more spacious, especially the rear seat and the boot. I drive nearly 6000km per year, with 80% running on the highway. My budget is around 8-10 lakh. I also want an adjustable/higher driver seat, as I am not very tall. Please suggest a fuel-efficient car.

autocar.india
Since you've already owned a 2021 Maruti Baleno and you've been happy with the car, you could consider the top-spec Toyota Glanza - it is a badge-engineered new-generation Baleno, which will feel like a prominent upgrade. An added advantage of the Glanza is its beige-black interior colour scheme, which is brighter and looks more upmarket than the Baleno. Also, the Glanza is powered by a smooth and refined 1.2-litre petrol engine, which feels adequately powerful for the highway, and it is very efficient. So while the car will feel very familiar to your outgoing car, in a way, it will feel amply different, to give you a new car feel. You could also consider a Tata Nexon for its high seating, turbo-petrol engine, spacious cabin and boot, and an overall tough feel, all of which you will appreciate on your highway drives. Fuel efficiency, however, isn't likely to be as impressive as the Glanza.

I’m planning to buy a car under ₹8 lakh with a focus on engine quality, mileage and safety. I’m confused between the Maruti Baleno and Fronx. Is the Fronx truly safer than the Baleno? Since the Fronx has a 4-star rating in Japan NCAP, can we assume similar build quality for the India model? Please guide.

autocar.india
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is based on the Baleno, and mechanically and structurally, both are very similar. Thus, both will be very similar when it comes to safety, too. As for the crash safety rating, yes, the Fronx has secured a 4-star rating in the Japan NCAP crash tests; however, the Baleno has secured a 5-star rating in the BNCAP tests. So the Baleno is safe too, if not safer, you must bear in mind that there could be differences in the export model. As for the engines, both Fronx and Baleno use the same 1.2 liter naturally aspirated unit. However, the Fronx also comes with the choice of a more peppy and lively 1.0 liter turbo petrol engine

Hello team. I’m selling my old i20 and planning to buy a new car. I’ve shortlisted the Tata Altroz, Maruti Baleno, Toyota Glanza and Maruti Dzire. My priorities are an automatic transmission, good mileage, 4/5-star safety, an armrest and a rear wiper. I’m attracted to the Glanza for its styling and the UV-cut glass on the top variant. My maximum budget is ₹10.5-11 lakh on-road in Telangana. Please suggest which is best.

autocar.india
The Toyota Glanza is a rebadged Maruti Suzuki Baleno, and the only difference between the two is the badge, some interior trim colours and the warranty. The Glanza is sold with a 3-year/1,00,000km warranty, while the Baleno gets a 2-year/40,000km warranty. The Glanza is a good option if you like the way it looks, and the UV cut glass is a must-have feature for you. However, if you are looking for a car that will hold its value better, then the Maruti Suzuki Baleno is the better option, and also features UV cut class. The Tata Altroz does get you the option of a diesel engine, and a DCT automatic, which is the more sophisticated auto gearbox here. However, you could also consider the new Hyundai i20, which comes with a CVT auto or a DCT with its powerful turbo engine.

I’m a new driver looking for a premium automatic hatchback within a ₹10 lakh budget. I’ve shortlisted the Baleno Zeta AGS, Tata Altroz Creative AMT, and Hyundai i20 Sportz iVT. Considering fuel efficiency, reliability, safety, comfort for long drives, and ease of driving as a beginner, which of these three is the best option?

autocar.india
The Maruti Baleno AGS is a proven, reliable hatchback, which will be the most fuel-efficient option from the bunch. It offers good space, comfort and is likely to deliver a trouble-free ownership experience. Between the three, it is the best option for a new driver. You could also consider a Toyota Glanza, which is the badge-engineered Baleno, but comes with beige-black interiors.

I want to upgrade my car to an AMT version. I have two choices: the Renault Kiger Evolurio and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno AMT. Could you please choose which is better considering low maintenance cost, fuel efficiency, and safety? My budget is under ₹9 lakh.

autocar.india
Considering your requirement, we would suggest choosing the Maruti Suzuki Baleno with the automated manual transmission (AMT) as compared to the Renault Kiger. It has a more powerful and smoother 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine along with a better-tuned AMT gearbox. In a recent BNCAP crash test, it also scored a decent 4-star rating. Being a Maruti Suzuki car, you won’t have to worry about maintenance costs, fuel efficiency, or overall ownership experience, as it is among the best in its segment.

I have followed your writing for two decades and now request your advice: Among hatchbacks and crossovers with 1.2 NA engines — from MS (Ignis, Swift, Baleno, Fronx), Hyundai (Grand i10 Nios, i20, Exter), Tata (Tiago, Altroz, Punch), and Citroen (C3 1.2 NA) — which is the most fun to drive? I personally feel that the older Swift with its 1.2 K12 engine was best, but with the current Z-series 3-pot engine things are less exciting. Considering performance, is Ignis perhaps the best of the lot now, thanks to its light weight and decent road manners?

autocar.india
The Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Baleno share the 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine, which is known for its smoothness, refinement, free-revving nature and fuel efficiency. The Ignis is relatively smaller in size than the Baleno, and with its light controls, will be a touch easier to drive and park in tight spaces. That said, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift is still an excellent, fun-to-drive option, with a nicer steering (it returns to centre more naturally than the Ignis' unit), and its darty nature. Its 3-cylinder petrol engine is also very good in terms of drivability; yes, it doesn't revv as freely as the 4-cylinder 1.2 unit, but if you don't regularly spin the engine beyond 4000rpm, it'll keep you satisfied. Do drive the new Swift once, it might just be the one for you.

My monthly running is 1,400 km. I need an automatic car with good mileage, pickup, looks, and interior finish. I’m confused between the Baleno, i20, and Altroz. My budget is around ₹10 lakh.

autocar.india
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno would be the best choice. It features good looks, a well-finished interior, and most importantly, strong mileage. The Hyundai i20 has slightly better interior quality, but its fuel efficiency isn’t as strong as the Maruti.
Sundaram
I’m a first-time car buyer with a budget of around ₹8 lakh, looking for comfort, good mileage, and an automatic transmission. My usage split is 60% city and 40% highway. Will the Maruti Baleno suit me?

autocar.india
The Baleno is a very good choice. It is an easy-to-drive, low-maintenance car with great fuel efficiency. Out on the highway, too, its engine is reasonably powerful, and its suspension copes well to give the car a planted and confident feel while cruising. You may also consider a Toyota Glanza, which is identical to the Baleno, but gets a more premium-looking beige and black interior.
