Trending Questions on Maruti Suzuki Baleno - Answered by Autocar Experts
I own a Dzire petrol car and want to replace it with a new petrol car. Please suggest the best petrol car in the ₹10-12 lakh range.
I’m a new driver looking for a premium automatic hatchback within a ₹10 lakh budget. I’ve shortlisted the Baleno Zeta AGS, Tata Altroz Creative AMT, and Hyundai i20 Sportz iVT. Considering fuel efficiency, reliability, safety, comfort for long drives, and ease of driving as a beginner, which of these three is the best option?
The Maruti Baleno AGS is a proven, reliable hatchback, which will be the most fuel-efficient option from the bunch. It offers good space, comfort and is likely to deliver a trouble-free ownership experience.
Between the three, it is the best option for a new driver. You could also consider a Toyota Glanza, which is the badge-engineered Baleno, but comes with beige-black interiors.
I am looking to buy my first car as I have just started driving. My main priorities are safety, mileage and comfort. The car will be used mostly in the city and on highways. My budget is around Rs 10 to 12 lakh.
I am a first-time, amateur driver with a strict preference for an automatic transmission. My budget is up to Rs 10 lakh on the road, but I can stretch to Rs 12 lakh if required. My usage will be very low initially, around 50 to 100 km per month. My priority is low and hassle-free maintenance with dependable showroom service. As a bonus, I would prefer models that offer a 360-degree camera or blind view monitor, as this would greatly help my confidence, though it is not a deal-breaker. Please suggest suitable models.
Hello, Autocar. I currently drive an Alto K10, and I’m considering upgrading to a Baleno Alpha MT. Is this upgrade worthwhile? Or can you suggest any other good options within ₹10 lakh?
Yes, the Maruti Baleno will certainly feel like a big upgrade from your Maruti Alto K10 in every aspect - space, comfort, features and performance. Alternatively, you could also check out the Toyota Glanza, a badge-engineered Maruti Baleno, for its beige interiors, which feel a touch airier than the Maruti's.
I’m planning to buy a new automatic car with a budget of ₹8-9 lakh (maximum). I drive about 250–300 km per week, and I’m a first-time car buyer. Please suggest suitable options.
The Maruti Baleno Zeta AGS will be a good option to consider. This version will fit in your budget and has good fuel economy for an automatic. Your high usage, it also has comfy seats, a good ride and a decent feature list.
Adding to the convenience is Maruti's widespread network and low maintenance cost. It is easy to drive in the city, has a practical and spacious cabin and a comfy ride for long drives.
I have an offer for a 2024 Grand Vitara Sigma with 3,000 km for Rs 12 lakh. When compared to a new Baleno Delta or a new i20 base variant priced at around Rs 8.5 lakh, which should I buy? Finance is not an issue, and running and usage are also not a concern. Should I buy the used Grand Vitara or a new Baleno/i20? Kindly advise.
I want to upgrade my car to an AMT version. I have two choices: the Renault Kiger Evolurio and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno AMT. Could you please choose which is better considering low maintenance cost, fuel efficiency, and safety? My budget is under ₹9 lakh.
Considering your requirement, we would suggest choosing the Maruti Suzuki Baleno with the automated manual transmission (AMT) as compared to the Renault Kiger. It has a more powerful and smoother 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine along with a better-tuned AMT gearbox.
In a recent BNCAP crash test, it also scored a decent 4-star rating. Being a Maruti Suzuki car, you won’t have to worry about maintenance costs, fuel efficiency, or overall ownership experience, as it is among the best in its segment.
I want to buy a new car by exchanging my existing one. My budget is 9 lakhs. I will drive mostly in the city, with highway trips or long drives 4-5 times a year. My priorities are safety, comfort, a good engine and gearbox, reliability, and good after-sales support or service network. I prefer a manual. Since parking in the city is a challenge, I don’t want a very big car.
I have followed your writing for two decades and now request your advice: Among hatchbacks and crossovers with 1.2 NA engines — from MS (Ignis, Swift, Baleno, Fronx), Hyundai (Grand i10 Nios, i20, Exter), Tata (Tiago, Altroz, Punch), and Citroen (C3 1.2 NA) — which is the most fun to drive? I personally feel that the older Swift with its 1.2 K12 engine was best, but with the current Z-series 3-pot engine things are less exciting. Considering performance, is Ignis perhaps the best of the lot now, thanks to its light weight and decent road manners?
The Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Baleno share the 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine, which is known for its smoothness, refinement, free-revving nature and fuel efficiency. The Ignis is relatively smaller in size than the Baleno, and with its light controls, will be a touch easier to drive and park in tight spaces.
That said, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift is still an excellent, fun-to-drive option, with a nicer steering (it returns to centre more naturally than the Ignis' unit), and its darty nature. Its 3-cylinder petrol engine is also very good in terms of drivability; yes, it doesn't revv as freely as the 4-cylinder 1.2 unit, but if you don't regularly spin the engine beyond 4000rpm, it'll keep you satisfied.
Do drive the new Swift once, it might just be the one for you.
