Tata Aeris
The Aeris is Tata’s latest nameplate to join its lineup. It is essentially a successor to the Tigor compact sedan, bringing sheet metal changes and updated tech. The Aeris locks horns with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, and Hyundai Aura. The Tata Aeris ex-showroom price ranges from Rs 5.30 lakh to 9.75 lakh. The Aeris is offered in 18 variants.
The Aeris is powered solely by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 86hp and 113Nm. There’s also a factory-fitted CNG version which churns out 76hp and 97Nm in CNG mode. Transmission duties are handled by either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT gearbox. CNG versions come with a dual-cylinder setup that does not sacrifice much boot space.
Tata Aeris key features
- Segment’s only model to come with leatherette seat upholstery and front seat ventilation.
- CNG versions come with the largest tank in the segment - 70 litres
- Unlike rivals with a large single tank that results in negligible boot space, the Aeris CNG has a dual-cylinder setup with 227 litres of usable boot space.
- Features include a 10.25-inch infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless entry, wireless phone charger, 65W Type-C charger, digital driver’s display.
- Safety features include a 360-degree camera, a blind-spot monitor, a dashcam, TPMS, ESP, and 6 airbags.

Tata Aeris price & variants
The Tata Aeris variants include 18 options sold across five trims, namely Smart, Pure, Pure+, Creative, and Accomplished.
Smart: Six airbags, digital driver's display, rear parking sensors, tilt steering, fabric seat upholstery. This trim is sparsely equipped.
Pure: Adds BYOD functionality, steering-mounted controls, 2 speakers, wheel covers, rear defogger, electrically adjustable ORVMs, manual IRVM, all power windows
Pure+: 8-inch infotainment system, 4 speakers, rear parking camera, 65W charging ports, rear AC vents, cruise control, styled steel wheels, TPMS, ESP with traction control, rear centre armrest, and hill hold. The trim to go for if on a strict budget.
Creative: 360-degree camera, LED light setups, auto AC, rain sensing wipers, 15-inch alloy wheels, 10.25-inch infotainment system, one touch-one-touch window up/down, keyless entry, blind view monitor. We recommend this trim as it's well equipped for its price.
Accomplished: Leatherette seats, front seat ventilation, dash cam recording, wireless phone charger, LED fog lamps, connected car tech, front adjustable headrests. Though this trim gets few feel-good features, it isn't worth the added premium.
Tata Aeris What You Need to Know
The Aeris will get a substantially revised exterior, with Tata making sheet metal changes rather than limiting the facelift to new bumpers and lights. The teaser has confirmed slimmer LED headlamps with a thin DRL strip, LED fog lamps and redesigned tail-lights. Design patent images also show a new front bumper, C shaped design elements, a wide air inlet and a sleeker overall look. The notchback roofline and glasshouse will be retained, while new alloy wheels are expected.
The Aeris is expected to get a significant equipment upgrade over the Tigor. Its cabin is likely to borrow heavily from the updated Tiago and could include a 10.25 inch touchscreen, binnacle-less digital driver’s display, 360 degree camera, wireless phone charger and connected car technology. Automatic climate control, powered ORVMs, rear AC vents and six airbags as standard are also expected.
The Aeris is expected to carry over the Tigor’s 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, with factory fitted CNG also expected to be offered. Both are likely to continue with five speed manual and five speed AMT options. The Aeris EV is expected to get a 26kWh battery with a front mounted motor, although its final range and efficiency figures have not yet been revealed.
The Aeris is expected to retain the Tigor’s existing 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol powertrain and CNG option rather than receive a major mechanical overhaul. Five speed manual and AMT gearboxes are expected to continue. The EV will get a different powertrain, with the Aeris EV expected to use a 26kWh battery and front mounted motor. More details on performance and refinement are expected to be revealed at launch.

The Aeris will bring a more extensively redesigned exterior and a significantly updated equipment package to Tata’s compact sedan range. It is expected to be priced at a premium over the current Tigor, with the petrol and CNG versions continuing to target the compact sedan segment. The Aeris will compete with the Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Hyundai Aura, while the EV will continue Tata’s presence in the electric compact sedan space.
The Aeris is expected to retain the Tigor’s basic platform and overall proportions, with the facelift concentrating heavily on its design and equipment. The addition of new sheet metal will give it a substantially different appearance, but we do not expect any major changes to the suspension or chassis. Ride and handling characteristics will therefore need to be assessed once the Aeris is driven.
