I am looking to buy a car for my parents, who do not drive, so it will mostly be chauffeur-driven. My main priority is rear seat comfort. We are upgrading from a 2011 Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire. The car will mainly be used for highways and long trips, with minimal city usage. However, I would prefer an automatic transmission in case I need to use it occasionally in the city (Bengaluru). Before starting test drives, I wanted your suggestions on some suitable vehicles. Based on my initial research, I have shortlisted the following options: Honda City ZX CVT Kia Seltos HTX iVT Honda Elevate ZX CVT Škoda Slavia 1.5L Sportline DSG or 1.0 Monte Carlo AT Volkswagen Virtus Topline AT My budget is around ₹20–21 lakh. Which option would you recommend, especially considering rear seat comfort and highway usability?
Go for the Honda City ZX CVT. For chauffeur‑driven parents, it offers the comfiest rear bench, ample legroom, and a smooth CVT for Bengaluru traffic within your ₹20-21 lakh budget.
Rear comfort is its strength: the 2,600 mm wheelbase helps knee-room, the rear seat is well-cushioned with good thigh support, and the ride is tuned soft for long trips. The 506‑litre boot easily swallows luggage for highway runs.
ZX adds 6 airbags and ADAS with adaptive cruise control, useful on long highways. The CVT’s smooth creep and no shift‑shock make occasional city use easy. Versus your shortlist, Elevate’s rear bench feels upright, while Slavia/Virtus ride firmer and are more driver‑centric for back‑seat comfort.

What would be the best automatic SUV under ₹20 lakh with good mileage, a 5-star safety rating and a comfortable rear seat for 3 people? 90% city driving with occasional highway drives.
Go for the Honda Elevate VX CVT. It combines a 5-star JNCAP safety rating, smooth city-friendly CVT, and a wide, flat rear bench that can seat three adults comfortably.
With 90% city use, the Elevate’s CVT makes stop-and-go driving smooth and jerk-free, which reduces fatigue. Expect about 11-12 kpl in the city and 15-16 kpl on highways from the CVT, so your occasional trips won’t sting on fuel. The rear seat is broad with a near-flat floor and supportive cushioning, so three medium-built adults can sit side-by-side more comfortably than in many midsize SUVs. You can get the top variant within your budget, and there are currently good offers available on the Elevate as well.
The one thing you give up is outright punch on fast highways, as overtakes have to be more planned than turbo petrol rivals.

I am planning to buy a new SUV at around ₹17 lakh on-road price and have shortlisted the Honda Elevate ZX, Kia Seltos HTK and new Kushaq Prestige. I primarily need a car for 80% driving in the city and around 1000-1200 km per month. Which is better in terms of engine and mileage? Is the Honda Elevate outdated compared to other cars in the segment?
The Honda Elevate is a good option for your needs. The 1.5-litre petrol engine is smooth and refined, and the CVT automatic gearbox is well-suited to city driving. The car is spacious and comfortable, and the ZX variant is well-equipped too. However, in comparison to the Seltos, it does not have the space or the modernity, and the cabin does not feel as plush.
The Kia Seltos HTK with the CVT gearbox is the best option considering all your needs. It is a lot better-equipped than the Honda, has a better ride quality, and the engine has a lot more punch and strong performance while still being easy to drive in the city. The smoothness, refinement and ease of use are why the Seltos will be our recommendation.
The Skoda Kushaq is a good option, too. The 1.0-litre TSI engine is quite efficient, but it is not as smooth as the 1.5-litre engines of the Honda and Kia. The facelift that was recently revealed will be launched in a few days, but it hasn't changed much in the rear seat space, where it is still not as spacious as the Seltos. So we would advise you to shortlist the Seltos.

I am looking to replace my Volkswagen polo with a SUV for term usage. My running is occasional few times in city and twice a year long journey. I am looking at Honda Elevate and Renault Duster. Do you have any other suggestions?
Why don't you consider the Skoda Kushaq facelift instead? Being part of the VW group, the Kushaq will be a natural upgrade from your Polo - it is well-built, well-equipped and it drives well too. Both its engines (1.0L and 1.5L) deliver good performance. This should be high up on your shortlist.
The Honda Elevate is a no nonsense option with excellent ride comfort, and a strong naturally aspirated petrol engine. The seating position is good, and it is nice to drive too. Refinement however isn't its strong suit.
The Renault Duster also looks like a good option but we'll reserve our judgements till we actually drive it extensively.

I'm planning to buy the Honda V CVT and put CNG in it through the dealer. It won't void my warranty. Will it interfere with the Honda Sensing system (ADAS)?
Honda dealerships are offering the Amaze and Elevate with a CNG kit for approximately Rs 1 lakh, which includes the kit warranty of 3 years/1,20,000km. The kit is only offered on the V and VX variants, exclusively with the manual transmission. So installing a CNG kit in the CVT version will void your warranty.
The camera-based Honda Sensing (ADAS) is not likely to be affected by the CNG kit.

I want to decide on an SUV purchase between the Honda Elevate, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and Grand Vitara. I value good features but no ADAS. Lower maintenance is also important. Please suggest in order of merit.
In terms of lowest maintenance, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will top the list. It doesn’t come with ADAS at all, so you can opt for the top Alpha+ variant with all the bells and whistles and still skip ADAS. If you choose the strong hybrid version, it delivers superb fuel efficiency in the city, while all versions have a comfortable ride and spacious cabin.
Among your other picks, the Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq also don’t get ADAS and are otherwise well-equipped, particularly the newly facelifted Kushaq, though maintenance may be a bit more expensive.
The Honda Elevate gets ADAS on the top ZX variant, which means you will have to opt for the VX and miss out on some other features. For your needs, the Grand Vitara is the best fit, but do test drive all these cars before making a decision.

I am planning to buy a new car and am confused between the 2026 Hyundai Creta EX(O) IVT, Kia Seltos HTK IVT and Honda Elevate V CVT. My usage will be around 50 percent in the city and 50 percent on highways. I also plan to sell the car after 3-4 years, so good resale value and overall value for money are important factors. Which of these cars would you recommend?
Among your three choices, the Hyundai Creta is in high demand in the used market and therefore holds its value the best. The current Kia Seltos is too new to accurately predict its resale value, but going by the resale values of the last generation, we expect it to be only slightly behind the Creta. Interestingly, the Elevate, despite Honda's good reputation, will likely see the most depreciation of the three, but in the V CVT variant you've chosen, it is also the cheapest to buy, and Honda dealers regularly offer sizeable discounts on it.
The Creta is the safest bet if you want the best value for money and strong resale value. It is good to drive, well-equipped, the engine is smooth and refined, and the IVT works seamlessly. However, do take a test drive of the Elevate as well. It offers better acceleration than the Creta, the seats are very comfortable, and the suspension feels more robust. If you can negotiate a good deal, it can represent very good value for money.

I’m planning to buy a car with a budget of ₹15-20 lakh. I drive about 3,000 km per year, mostly within the city, but also take a few out-of-city trips for vacations or family visits. Safety and comfort are my top priorities, and I intend to keep the car for 12+ years, so low maintenance is important. Since I live in Jaipur, Rajasthan, where the climate is dry and very hot, having a strong and reliable AC is essential. I’ve been considering options like the Hyundai Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun. I have been using a Honda Brio from last 14 years, which I have to replace.
The Honda Elevate would be a good option to upgrade. Since you are used to the reliability and peace of mind with a Honda, you will appreciate the Elevate as it carries over the same ethos. Also, your annual running isn't as much, so a petrol SUV with a CVT gearbox would be a good fit for you. The powertrain is smooth and refined in the city, and the AC performance is one of the best in the segment.
In our AC test, the Elevate was quick to drop the cabin temperature despite having the highest starting temperature, making the AC performance commendable. What's also nice is the simple, no-nonsense cabin and infotainment system that gets the basics and a comfy ride that makes those once-in-a-while long trips effortless. The Elevate would be our recommendation.

I own a 2018 Honda City Manual SV Petrol version, and I am planning to buy a new car. I have been driving the Honda City for more than 10-11 years due to the comfort of a luxury sedan. I am confused, as many people are suggesting that I buy an SUV like the Kia Seltos. I did a test drive and liked many of the features, but the comfort of driving a sedan was missing. Personally, my family likes sedans. But I want to know where the Honda City stands in the market. Is it losing market share due to other SUVs and EVs? Should I stick with the Honda City for a pleasurable driving experience and forget about the tech aspect of it? Also, please advise on manual vs automatic, as I feel driving an automatic will take away the pleasure of driving. Nowadays, I have heard that no one is buying manual cars because of the trend and the ease of driving. But I want to know if there is a good driving experience without gears, or if automatics are just for people who can’t manage cars with gears. Also, is the sunroof variant just for aesthetic purposes, or does it really have any usable value, considering most of my driving is in the city? A detailed review would help.
In terms of choosing between manual and automatic, it largely comes down to usage and personal preference. The convenience that an automatic transmission brings in stop-and-go traffic is undeniable, making it the better choice for those with long urban commutes. However, if a manual is what you prefer and the extra effort it requires in the city doesn’t bother you, then that is what you should get.
It’s true the Honda City doesn’t sell as well as it once did in a market dominated by SUVs, but it remains a competent, if somewhat underwhelming, car. If you like the Honda experience and want to upgrade to an SUV, the Elevate is worth considering. It’s a spacious vehicle with good ride and handling and a slick gearbox; however, it is down on features compared to the competition.
If you’d prefer to stick with the sedan formula but want something more engaging to drive, the Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus should be right up your alley. They are currently among the most enjoyable sedans to drive in the segment and, even in 1.0-litre TSI form, offer more performance than the Honda City. They are also available with a manual, although Volkswagen has recently discontinued the manual on the 1.5 TSI.
Finally, a sunroof is a luxury feature, not an essential. If you don’t find any practical value in it, it’s best avoided.
