I am confused between the Elevate and the Creta. I understand that the Creta is the more established one, but with Honda, the value it brings is amazing, while the price of the Creta is a bit higher than the value it offers. I am mostly a city driver, with around 95% of my driving in the city and occasional highway trips, covering around 10,000km per year. Can you help me get some perspective?

The Hyundai Creta is the more premium product with a richer feature list. Since your usage is mainly in the city, you are likely to appreciate the Creta's smoothness and refinement, as well as the additional features it offers. Sure, this Hyundai car might cost a bit more, but it is a proven product that commands strong brand equity, which is likely to translate to higher resale value.

The Honda Elevate gives you most of what you need at a significantly lower cost, and Honda’s service network is strong enough to make ownership hassle-free. Go for the Elevate if you value its stronger engine performance, else for a refined drive experience, pick the Creta.

@autocar.india Creta for style and if your running is more on highway then DCT, in city traffic DCT has hardly any use and will feel lag in initial pickup especially in bumper to bumper traffic and Creta IVT is underpowered where Elevate has better petrol engine more reliable with better suspension and mileage. Test drive both and take a decision.

Creta SUV really? None of these cars are SUVs and rather Crossovers. Creta uses a monocoque / unibody platform like a hatchback. It is only in India such elevated hatchbacks are nowadays called SUVs. While Creta is a good overall package but their IVT is underpowered and DCT is laggy in traffic and only good on highways. Their Diesel is very good.

Hi All Need an expert opinion for buying an Elevate. I am 66, been an old Honda City user and although not fully retired(work as a consultant for an US co) looking to buy a good value n reliable family car. I hardly drive now on Highways n it's mostly in City/NCR areas.Annual run could be 7500 kms /year maximum. The Windor EV drive was excellent but at 66 may find the screen controls learning curve steep in Delhi/NCR roads.Thought Elevate with its excellent ground clearance n reliability of a Honda engine besides 12 years experience may be good n more so when it may be possible to get a good discount deal currently. The ongoing E 20 controversy n damages it is causing in some parts n poor mileage was s concern area. Pl advice which will help me build convictions on my thinking. Regards Subho Bhattacharya

Honda spares are not outside of their service Center to outside garages, go with Hyundai, cars and parade of mind with spares for next 15 years.

Is Creta diesel TC automatic good? Like better than most of the SUVs comparable in the same price range?

I’m planning to buy a Hyundai Creta IVT automatic and am confused between two variants: the SX Premium Summer Edition and the SX King. I drive about 70 - 80 km a week, plus a 350 km trip roughly once every 45 days. The King variant also gets ADAS. Which one is the right choice for me?

The Hyundai Creta King costs over Rs 1 lakh more than the Creta SX Premium, and for the additional cash, you get ADAS tech like auto emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist and more, an auto-dimming IRVM, larger 18-inch alloys, a powered front passenger seat, memory function for the driver's seat and front parking sensors. That's a lot of additional features for not that much more money, and you can even turn the ADAS features off if you don't want them. So if you can, go for the Creta King, as you'll see the SUV in its best light.

I have a 2013 Volkswagen Polo petrol, and my parents are retired. I need an automatic car that’s easy for them to get in and out of, with a very comfortable ride, excellent NVH levels and more rear-seat space. My usage is very low, about 5,000-7,000 km a year, mainly in the city, and I plan to keep the car for more than eight years. My budget is Rs 20 lakh. My shortlist includes the Mahindra XUV 3XO turbo-petrol, the Skoda Kushaq 1.0 AT and the Hyundai Creta IVT. I skipped the Kia Seltos because of its size. Which of these is the best, or are there any better options?

The Hyundai Creta 1.5 petrol IVT would be our clear recommendation for your requirements. It has a comfortable seating position, wide-opening doors, a spacious rear seat and a plush ride. Its naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with the IVT is also very smooth in city traffic.The Skoda Kushaq 1.0 AT is enjoyable to drive and has supportive seats, but its low-speed ride is firmer, and its engine and gearbox combination isn't as smooth as the Creta's IVT. The Mahindra XUV 3XO TGDi AT offers excellent performance and a comfortable rear seat, but its ride has a slightly firm edge and its boot is relatively small.

Hyundai dealers are giving more than 1 lakh discounts on Creta. Should I wait for year end or not?

I am planning to buy the top-end Hyundai Creta Turbo Petrol DCT variant. My daily running is around 50–100km, which adds up to approximately 25,000–30,000km annually. I am looking for a car that offers strong performance and quick acceleration, along with a comprehensive set of comfort and convenience features. Should I buy the current Creta Turbo Petrol DCT top variant or wait for the 2027 Creta? For context, I currently own a 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire Hybrid and a Volkswagen Virtus GT 1.5 TSI.

The 2027 Hyundai New Creta will be thoroughly updated inside-out, and it'll have more tech and features. If you don't mind waiting, it makes sense to get the 2027 new-gen model. Do note, its powertrain options are likely to be carried forward from the current version. If you can't wait, but still want the performance as well as the latest in terms of tech and features, consider the Kia Seltos turbo-dct instead, which packs in more or less everything the next-gen Creta is likely to offer.

Which SUV would you pick for a family of 5?

I’m planning to buy a new car, and my annual running is around 40,000km, primarily involving highway drives and ghat sections. I have shortlisted the Kia Seltos Diesel HTX and the upcoming facelifted Toyota Innova Hycross ZX. I’m considering two approaches: either buy the Innova Hycross and keep it for the next 10 years, given its reputation for longevity and the expectation that its engine can last at least 4 lakh kilometres, or buy the Seltos, drive it for around 2 lakh kilometres over 4–5 years, sell it and upgrade to a brand-new Seltos or another car of a similar price and size. On paper, the Innova Hycross Hybrid seems like the better choice, considering its long-term reliability and features such as the Ottoman reclining seats. However, I’m concerned that I might get bored of it after four years or that it may start feeling outdated as newer technologies and features enter the market. This makes the second option appealing, as it would allow me to upgrade to a brand-new car every 4–5 years. Which approach would make more sense in the long run, considering my high annual running and ownership costs?

It seems like you're leaning towards the Kia Seltos Diesel HTX, and we think it is a good choice. The diesel engine feels adequately powered for highway usage and ghat driving, and it is likely to return respectable efficiency too. Moreover, despite being modern with all the latest tech and features, the Seltos will be substantially more affordable than the Toyota Innova Hycross hybrid. So unless you need the Innova's extra space, or you frequently travel with six or seven passengers, the Kia Seltos diesel is your best bet.
