Kia India has opened bookings for the Seltos facelift for a token amount of Rs 25,000. The SUV made its debut in India earlier this month and its price announcement is expected to happen in the coming weeks. With the facelift, Kia has added some new features to the Seltos as well as reintroduced a turbo-petrol engine.

    1. Kia Seltos facelift launch expected in the coming weeks
    2. It gets a 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine
    3. Seltos facelift also gets 17 ADAS features

Some customers can reduce the waiting period on their Seltos facelift by acquiring a K-code, which will only be applicable to bookings made through the website. This special code can be generated by existing Seltos owners either through Kia’s website or through the MyKia app.

Kia also announced that it has hit the 1 million-unit production milestone in India since making its debut here in 2019. These units, produced at its plant in Andhra Pradesh, include 7.5 lakh cars sold domestically and 2.5 lakh exports. Interestingly, it was the Seltos facelift that was the 1 millionth car to roll out from the carmaker's plant.

    Kia Seltos facelift design

The Seltos facelift has a slightly larger bumper than before and gets redesigned headlights with new LED daytime running lamps that extend into the grille. The Seltos facelift gets up to 18-inch alloy wheels, and apart from this, nothing much has changed in profile.

At the back, it gets new inverted L-shaped tail-lights that are connected by an LED light bar. It also gets sequential LED turn indicators and the reverse light has moved from the tail-light housing to the redesigned bumper. The tailgate design has also been refreshed with fewer chrome bits than before.

The AC vents are now slimmer and the HVAC and audio controls have been redesigned as well. While the X Line trim gets a new sage green colour for the interior, the GT Line variants get a new black and white interior theme.

Top-spec trims get a 360-degree camera, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, an 8-inch heads-up display, an electronic parking brake, rain-sensing wipers and a Bose-tuned 8-speaker system. Safety features include six airbags as standard, a tyre pressure monitoring system, ESC and Hill Assist Control, as well as ADAS tech, like a forward collision warning assist, blind spot collision warning and lane keep assist.

Under the hood, the Seltos facelift continues with the 115hp, 144Nm, 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 116hp, 250Nm, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine. As before, the petrol engine comes with a 6-speed manual or a CVT, while the diesel gets a 6-speed iMT or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

What’s new, though, is a 160hp, 253Nm, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that replaces the older 140hp, 242Nm, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine. The new engine, which debuted in the Kia line-up with the Carens, comes with either a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
