The Hyundai Venue is set to receive a major mid-cycle refresh and the price is expected to be announced by mid-June 2022. The SUV, which is still undergoing final phases of testing, was caught by our reader Charles Naveen near the Hyundai plant on the outskirts of Chennai – the sole manufacturing facility for all Hyundai models sold in the country.

    • Venue facelift launch by mid-June
    • Will get a major makeover inside out
    • N Line variant to join the line-up as well

The refreshed Venue is expected to go on sale first in India, followed by other global markets. The compact SUV will get a major styling overhaul at the front and rear so that it resembles newer Hyundai SUVs sold globally. The front end styling of the refreshed Hyundai Venue will be inspired by the new Tucson SUV – also confirmed for an India launch – and the recently updated Palisade full size SUV that is sold overseas.

At the rear, the new L-shaped tail-lamps will most likely be extended on to the redesigned boot lid, and the rear bumper will also see a design change.

While details about the refreshed Venue's interiors are not known, one can expect parts to be shared with other Hyundai models like the Creta and i20, and get features like a full-digital instrument cluster, new steering wheel and controls.

While the aforementioned updates are expected from a major mid-cycle refresh, what's more interesting is that the Venue will be the second Hyundai product in India after the i20 to get a sportier N Line variant. The upcoming Hyundai Venue N Line has been spotted testing earlier in India, and is expected to get sportier front and rear bumpers, dual exhaust tips and a unique alloy wheel design, among other changes. It will also get unique red accents on the inside similar to the i20 N Line.

The upcoming Venue N Line will be sold with the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, with gearbox options likely to include the 7-speed DCT and 6-speed iMT units.

Engine options for the standard Venue are expected to continue as is – a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. It remains to be seen whether the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol will be offered on the non-N Line Venue with the facelift.

Hyundai Venue facelift: rivals and launch date

Expect Hyundai to announce pricing for the Venue facelift latest by June 20, 2022. The key rival to the refreshed Venue will be the all-new, and well-equipped, Maruti Suzuki Brezza that is also expected to see a price announcement around the same time.

Additionally, Hyundai's refreshed compact SUV will also take on the likes of the Kia SonetTata NexonMahindra XUV300Renault KigerNissan Magnite and the Toyota Urban Cruiser.

I'm not sure how well the new Sensual Sportiness language will translate to a small SUV but I hope to be pleasantly surprised :)
