I want a good 350cc retro-style bike that should also be comfortable for long hours of riding. Which bike should I choose and why? I am currently considering the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and the Honda CB350RS. Please suggest if there are any other options as well.

In the 350cc neo-retro bike space, our top picks are any of the Honda CB350 models and the Royal Enfield Bullet / Classic 350. The Hondas have a smooth, thumpy engine but have tall gearing which means you will need to change gears a little more often than on the Royal Enfields so you keep the engine in its optimum zone.
Coming to the Royal Enfield bikes, we would steer you toward the Bullet / Classic more than the Meteor 350 because their ergonomics are more neutral, which will be conducive to spending long hours in the saddle. With its feet-forward position, the Meteor 350 will put a little more strain on your tailbone over long distances and road imperfections.
Take a test ride of the bikes you're considering before you make your decision.

I’m 27 (5′9″) and my father is 60 (5′11″) with a broad upper body. I want a bike (on-road budget under ₹2.4 lakh) that fits both our heights and body types. My riding will be mostly city and highway, with some casual off-roading and long trips. I’m considering the Yezdi ADV, Yezdi Roadster, Royal Enfield H’ness, TVS Apache RTX 300, and Hero Xpulse. Which of these suits both of us best?

Considering your use case, we would advise choosing between the TVS Apache RTX 300 and the Hero Xpulse 210. The RTX is an adventure bike, which will make it great on the road, while the Xpulse is a dualsport, which will be more capable during serious off-roading.

If you want a more road-biased machine, then the Honda CB350 H'ness (or either of its siblings), the Royal Enfield Classic / Bullet 350 and the TVS Ronin would make for a good option.

Take a test ride of these machines to help decide which one is best for you.

Hi Autocar, I'm looking to upgrade my 10-year-old Classic 350. I'm stuck between the Triumph Speed T4 and the new Scram 440. My daily commute is around 50 km, with the first half in city traffic and the rest on the highway. My main concerns are a comfortable ride and hassle-free maintenance. Both Triumph and RE showrooms are available in my city. Also, can you suggest any other bike in the same price range that offers comfort and reliability?

Between the two options you have shortlisted, we would steer you toward the Triumph Speed T4 because it is a more approachable and lighter machine inside the city and also has peppier performance.
You can also look at the Honda CB350 models because they are comfortable, reasonably fuel efficient and shouldn't be too expensive to maintain.
In a similiar vein, from the Royal Enfield 350cc range, the Hunter and the Bullet/Classic will be a good choice because all three are comfortable, smooth and reliable machines. We recommend a thorough test ride of all the options you shortlist before pulling the trigger.

I own a Royal Enfield Thunderbird Twin Spark (2011) — it’s been very comfortable for my mostly city riding (under 200 km/week), but it’s now nearing the end of its life. Should I modify and re-register this bike for more comfort, or buy a newer model that offers medium seating height, strong road presence, and excellent comfort for daily urban commutes and occasional longer rides? Please suggest models under ₹2 lakh.

We'd suggest that you look at a newer bike, primarily due to ethanol-blended fuels that are likely to cause problems with older motorcycles, even if they have been refurbished. We suggest you look within the Royal Enfield family itself at options like the Meteor 350, Classic 350, or Bullet 350 to meet the requirements that you have highlighted

I want to upgrade from my CBZ Extreme (2012). I’m 6'2", 70 kg. My daily commute is 20 km, and I do occasional weekend trips with my wife. I’m looking for an adventure bike with decent mileage and better pillion comfort. My budget is ₹2.5 lakh. You can also suggest cruiser options.

For your usage, in the cruiser space, you can take a look at the Royal Enfield Classic / Bullet 350 as well as any of the three Honda CB350 models. All bikes have relaxed, smooth engines, spacious seats and great suspension comfort.

In the ADV space, options like the TVS Apache RTX 300 and KTM 250 Adventure can be considered for their punchy - but not overwhelming - performance, spacious seats and comfortable ride quality, as well as luggage carrying capability.

Take thorough test rides of all shortlisted options before you decide.

I bought a Honda Unicorn two years ago as a beginner and now want a slightly more powerful, reliable bike within a ₹2.5 lakh budget (can stretch a bit). I ride 20–25 km daily and need good mileage, comfortable pillion space, occasional touring (rare off-roading), and low maintenance/spare costs. The Xpulse 210 interests me but its 140 kg max load is a concern. The bike should handle Bangalore road conditions. Please suggest some bikes to explore.

The TVS Apache RTX 300 and KTM 250 Adventure will both fit the bill for your needs. Both have spacious seats, will return decent fuel economy, have great suspension and ride comfort and should be light on the pocket. Do bear in mind that these bikes are significantly more powerful than the Unicorn you currently have, and if you want something that's more laidback, there are other options.

Bikes like the Royal Enfield Bullet / Classic 350 and the three Honda CB350 models will also fit the bill if you don't mind their laidback character and retro looks.

We recommend a thorough test ride before you choose.

Hi, I’m 47 years old, 6 ft tall, and my son is 21 years old, 6’3″ tall. I’m looking to buy a Royal Enfield Classic 350, but my son is interested in the Classic 650. My main concern is mileage, as we’ll do more than 95% city driving. Could you please suggest which bike suits us better?

Since almost all of your usage is going to be in the city, going for the Royal Enfield Classic 650 doesn't make sense because its rear suspension is quite stiff, and in traffic, its 243kg kerb weight will be a task to deal with, especially considering the way the engine will splay your legs out. You are right to worry about fuel efficiency because the 648cc twin is not very fuel efficient at slow city speeds, especially considering the bike's 243kg kerb weight.

The Classic 350 is a lovely bike to use inside the city with its upright ergonomics, plush suspension and torquey, soulful engine. The Goan Classic is also something you can take a look at if you like its custom bike look, although it does trade off a little bit of practicality and comfort to the Classic.

I’ve been riding an Avenger Street 220 for the past seven years. I’m now looking to upgrade to something more powerful with better suspension for rough roads. My daily ride is at least 50 km, and occasionally I ride up to 150 km a day. I’m considering the TVS Apache RTX 300 and the Honda CB350. Please advise.

The Honda CB350 models are comfortable motorcycles with plush suspension and a neutral rider’s triangle, so any of them would be a safe choice. You can also consider the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 or Classic 350, as both offer an upright riding position, great suspension, and comfort.
Coming to the TVS Apache RTX 300, this bike will be the most comfortable among all the suggested options because of its format. It will also pack in better performance than the air-cooled 350s if that's important to you.

I currently own a Honda Activa 125 and previously had a Pulsar 150. My daily commute is around 30 km, and due to poor road conditions and long hours of sitting at the office, I’ve started experiencing lower back pain despite regular workouts at home. My budget is between ₹2.5 and ₹2.75 lakhs. I’m looking for a bike that offers excellent suspension, low maintenance, and good resale value.

There are two adventure bikes that will fit the bill for your needs - the Hero Xpulse 210 (lightest, most affordable, and fuel efficient but has the least power owing to its small displacement) and the TVS Apache RTX 300 (most performance, lovely suspension, and seating comfort but at 835mm, its seat is quite tall).
You can also consider the Honda CB350 series or the Royal Enfield Classic/Bullet 350, both of which have upright riding positions and comfortable suspension setups.

I have low back listhesis and ride about 80-100 km per week. The roads I use have potholes and rough patches. Please suggest a smooth bike that won’t aggravate my back. I’m 52 years old.

Depending on your budget, adventure bikes like the Hero Xpulse 210, TVS Apache RTX 300, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, and KTM 390 Adventure are good options for your needs.
If you prefer a neo-retro style, consider the Honda CB350 series or the Royal Enfield Classic, Bullet, or Hunter 350.
If you want to stay under ₹2 lakh, look at 150-160cc commuters, such as the Honda Unicorn, Bajaj Pulsar N160, or TVS Apache RTR 160 4V. Take thorough test rides to find which one suits you best.
