My build is 5 ft 10 in and 86 kg. I am looking for a bike for city/office commuting under ₹3 lakh. Since Mumbai roads are known for potholes and speed breakers, good suspension and a comfortable riding posture (to minimize back pain) are essential. A bike that can comfortably run at higher gears or any mechanism to enable lazy riding (quickshifter) would be a preferable add-on. I currently have two bikes in mind: the RE Classic 350 (great lugging capability, comfortable seat, neutral riding posture, though I am unsure about long-term back comfort) and the TVS RTX 300 (great suspension and quickshifter, though I am unsure about its city usability). Please suggest, and feel free to include options beyond these.

Both the machines you've shortlisted are great ones for commuting within Mumbai but have different characters. The Royal Enfield Classic 350's smooth thumper is known for its low-end torque and encourages you to ride in a relaxed fashion. Its seating posture and suspension comfort both are excellent at keeping the rider shielded from road imperfections and should be good enough for you. We'd also recommend you take a look at the Honda CB350 models if you want a similiar riding experience with a little less weight and clutch effort. 

If instead, you want a quicker and more modern-feeling machine, then the TVS Apache RTX 300 is a great option to consider. The RTX has a tractable engine but its smaller motor cannot be lugged around in higher gears like the Classic's engine can. However, the Apache has a much higher performance ceiling and a lot of electronic features (including a bidirectional quickshifter, from the Top variant onwards) if that sounds appealing to you.

You should also consider the Hero Xpulse 210 because this bike has lovely suspension and upright, commanding ergonomics - both great attributes to tackle Mumbai's largely subpar roads. The Xpulse will be slower than the RTX but quicker than the air-cooled 350s and you can expect it to be the most fuel efficient of the lot, when ridden sensibly. 

A test ride of these bikes should help you decide which is the best fit for you.

The TVS Apache RTX 300 is surely the more capable, feature-rich and well-rounded motorcycle of the two bikes you have shortlisted. However, TVS' after-sales network is infamous for having a hit-or-miss experience and add to that, the RTX itself has been experiencing concerning issues almost a year after its launch. The KTM 250 Adventure might not be as enticing a proposition as the RTX on paper, but it remains the safer buy because it comes from a brand with a proven track record, and the bike itself has also not been reported as having widespread reliability concerns.

I need your expert advice on purchasing a new automatic CNG car. I am currently considering the Honda Amaze VX CVT with a government-approved sequential CNG kit retrofit and the factory-fitted Tata Punch Accomplished Plus S CNG AMT. I am also open to other recommendations within this price range. My on-road budget is a maximum of Rs 12 lakh, and my monthly running is around 900-1,200 km, with 80% city driving in heavy traffic and 20% weekend highway trips. I am based in Delhi-NCR and want a reliable CNG setup paired with an automatic transmission. My main concern is dealing with heavy traffic, bad road patches, potholes and severe waterlogging during the Delhi monsoon. I am specifically considering the top-spec Punch because I intend to keep the car for at least 10 years. I want a well-equipped, future-proof car so that I do not regret missing out on features later. If CNG retrofitment is possible on the top-spec Honda Amaze, I would consider that version as well. My key priorities are a stress-free automatic driving experience, sufficient ground clearance to tackle potholes and waterlogged roads, and low long-term maintenance costs. Given these requirements, which car would offer the most durable, hassle-free and enjoyable ownership experience?

Go for the Tata Punch Accomplished Plus S CNG AMT. The Punch’s high ground clearance and SUV-like stance make it far better suited to bad roads and monsoon conditions than the Honda Amaze. The factory-fitted CNG system is also a big advantage. It’s fully integrated, covered by the manufacturer's warranty, and you avoid the potential reliability and warranty complications that can come with aftermarket kits. The AMT gearbox is not as smooth as Honda’s CVT, but it is reliable and gets the job done in city traffic.The Punch also gives you the peace of mind of a top-spec variant from day one, so you won’t feel like you’re missing out on features later. The Amaze VX CVT is a good car, but retrofitting CNG to a top model is not as clean a solution, and the low ground clearance is a real drawback for your usage.

Hi team Autocar, my usage is 16 km which includes 3 days a week on outer ring road in Bangalore. I take a maximum of 2-3 highway trips in a month around Bangalore. I have shortlisted Kylaq AT which I found peppy enough and has less turbo lag as well as XUV 3XO at that has noticable turbo lag. I am leaning more towards Kylaq but I am a little concerned about its AC performance, higher maintenance that may occur after warranty, EPC error and vehicle going into limp mode and being stalled in the middle of the highway. Do these issues happen in Mahindra as well? Do you think one should choose 3XO over Kylaq. What's your take on this?

Both cars would suit your requirements well -16-18km, 3 days a week on Bangalore’s Outer Ring Road plus a couple of highway trips a month - so you can't really go wrong with either car. On your concerns: the Kylaq’s AC is adequate for Bangalore conditions. The higher maintenance cost post-warranty is a valid consideration, but it is not dramatically higher than Mahindra if you maintain the car properly and stick to authorised service. EPC errors and limp mode are not widespread issues on the Kylaq; they are rare and usually resolved under warranty. The 3XO is not immune to reliability issues either, so it should not be the deciding factor.Between the two, if you want a more nimble and fun to drive car opt for the Kylaq and if rear seat space is important go with the 3XO.

Go for the Skoda Kushaq 1.5 TSI. Since your usage is mostly highway runs on weekends and you are specifically looking for power, comfort, performance, suspension, handling, stability and an overall good driving experience, the Skoda Kushaq is the better fit. The 1.5 TSI engine is strong and punchy, and the car feels genuinely engaging to drive, with good high-speed stability and a well-sorted suspension setup. It is also a slightly more compact SUV, which makes it easier to live with as a first car.The Kia Seltos 1.5 turbo is also a very good car and feels more premium inside, but it is a larger SUV, and the driving experience is not as sharp or as involving as the Skoda Kushaq. Since this is your first car and your priorities are clearly performance and driving enjoyment, the Kushaq 1.5 TSI is the more satisfying choice.

Currently, the only electric scooters from a reputed manufacturer to have removable batteries are Hero MotoCorp's Vida V2 and VX2 models. These scooters come in a variety of variants to choose from depending on your styling, range, and price requirements. Take test rides of both before you make a decision.

Since your father is already familiar with the venerable Activa, stepping up to the Honda Activa 125 would be a good idea. The Activa 125 is smooth, has decent comfort, will be easy to manage and hassle-free to own over a longer period. If you want a change of pace, the Suzuki Access 125 would be our recommendation. The Access has trademark strengths expected of a practical, family-oriented scooter, like being fuel-efficient, comfortable, practical and reliable, but also throws zippy performance into the mix. Take your father for test rides of both before zeroing in on your next purchase.
