Hero MotoCorp Xpulse 210 Expert Review

The Xpulse 210 is an evolution of the Xpulse 200 rather than a complete redesign. The current version now strikes a better balance between a dual-sport and an ADV. Build quality, fit and finish have improved, the TFT display and switchgear feel more premium, but the matte screen is difficult to read in direct sunlight.

The riding position is noticeably better than before. The adjustable footpegs, better-cushioned seat and improved standing ergonomics make the motorcycle feel more comfortable on and off the road. The plush suspension and roomy riding position also make long commutes and weekend rides easy, with plenty of space even when carrying luggage.

The 210cc engine feels more responsive, especially in the low and mid-range, making climbs and city riding easier. It cruises comfortably between 80-100kph, while the short gearing also helps in slow traffic. During our test, it returned 27-30kpl in the city and around 34kpl on the highway. One drawback is the noticeable hot air from the radiator fan in traffic.

The all-new frame and suspension have made the biggest difference to how the Xpulse 210 rides. It feels smoother and more predictable than before, with better balance between road and off-road riding. The new setup also reduces squat and dive, so the motorcycle feels more stable in corners. Despite being nearly 10kg heavier than the Xpulse 200, it actually feels lighter and more agile on the move, and the suspension is among the best Hero has offered on an Indian motorcycle.

The Xpulse 210 gets a 4.2-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity and navigation. It also comes with dual-channel ABS and Road, Trail and Off-road modes, with the ABS settings adjustable while riding.

The Xpulse 210 addresses the shortcomings of the previous model while staying true to its simple and capable nature. It is more refined, more comfortable and more enjoyable to ride on the road and off it. The limited Premia dealer network remains a drawback, but for buyers looking for an affordable dual-sport, it makes a compelling case.
