Questions you may find useful
Hi Autocar Expert Team, I am 43 years old and commute around 60 km every day. Approximately 90% of my journey is on highways, with the remaining 10% on city roads. During my highway commute, I have to cross three bridges with expansion joints, which make the ride quite uncomfortable. I also suffer from sciatica-related back pain, so ride comfort and good suspension are my top priorities. I currently commute by car, but frequent traffic congestion significantly increases my travel time. As a result, I am planning to switch to a motorcycle for my daily commute. My budget is between Rs 2-4 lakh. Engine capacity is not a major concern, and I am open to motorcycles ranging from 150 cc to 450 cc. Based on my daily riding conditions, comfort requirements, and back condition, could you please recommend the most suitable motorcycle? I am particularly looking for a bike with the best suspension and ride comfort over bridge joints and uneven roads, a comfortable seat and relaxed riding ergonomics that are suitable for someone with sciatica, remains stable and composed at highway cruising speeds, and is reliable, easy to maintain, and offers a good long-term ownership experience.
Since your commute is quite long and comfort is your top priority, the Hero MotoCorp Xpulse 210 and the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 are both worth considering. The choice between the two depends largely on your typical highway cruising speeds. Both bikes offer an upright, neutral riding position that is well-suited to long hours in the saddle. They also have comfortable seats (the Himalayan 450 has the upper hand here). The Himalayan 450 offers stronger highway performance. However, it is noticeably heavier. If you want a lighter motorcycle that is easier to manage in daily use, the Xpulse 210 is the more approachable option.Take a test ride of both motorcycles before making a decision, as that will give the clearest indication of which one feels more comfortable for your riding needs.
I want to buy a bike within a budget of ₹2 lakh on-road. I will mainly use it for daily commuting in Mumbai, with a daily running of around 50 km, so decent mileage is important. The bike should also be comfortable for long rides, especially for the pillion. Can you suggest the best possible bike in this price range?
Look at bikes like the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Bajaj Pulsar N160, Honda Unicorn or Honda SP160 for your usage. They are reliable, comfortable, fuel efficient and low maintenance machines that should fit well within your budget. If you want a more premium product, then options like the TVS Ronin and RE Hunter 350 are to be considered. And if you're open to considering a dual purpose bike, the Hero Xpulse 210 is a fantastic option for commuting with its peppy engine, long travel suspension and flat, comfortable seat. First, decide what sort of bike would fit your usage best, take exhaustive test rides of each and then make your decision.
I used to own a TVS Apache RTR 180 and want to upgrade to a higher capacity motorcycle. My budget is ₹2.5 Lakhs. I will mainly ride within the city, with very occasional long rides. I am 5'8" and looking for something that has good power( for city overtake) and mileage, as my daily commute is 50 km.
Since you are a TVS owner, there are a couple of products you can consider from the same manufacturer itself. The TVS Ronin and Apache RTR 310 will both be good options to step up to, although they will have very different riding experiences. The former will have a more relaxed, torque-rich riding experience, while the latter will have an engine that will reward you the more you rev it.In a similiar vein, you can also consider the KTM 250 Duke, which will be an energetic machine that's reasonably fuel efficient too. If you're open to getting an ADV, bikes like the TVS Apache RTX 300 and Hero Xpulse 210 make for good options in your price range. Take a test ride of all before you decide.
I am writing from Coimbatore. I currently own a Yamaha SZ-R and am looking to upgrade my bike with touring in mind. I have shortlisted the Kawasaki Versys X-300 and the Suzuki V-Strom 250. I am 5 feet 5 inches tall. I test rode the Versys and found it comfortable in terms of ride quality. I am yet to test ride the V-Strom. Budget is not a concern. I am looking for a no-nonsense machine that is comfortable and good to ride. Are there any upcoming bikes I should wait for?
The Kawasaki Versys X-300 and Suzuki V-Strom 250 are both good options for your requirements. The Versys, with its more powerful twin-cylinder engine, will have the performance and long-distance touring advantage. However, the Suzuki V-Strom is a lot more affordable, and if you are on a tight budget, it makes for a genuinely capable tourer. Both bikes are quite tall, and you will need to get used to the height of these ADVs.Something to also consider is the Hero Xpulse 210, which has a peppy engine, great suspension, neutral ergonomics, and is the most affordable option of all three. Take a test ride of all three before you decide.
I am looking for a motorcycle mainly for highway use and touring. My budget is around ₹2 lakh on-road. My priorities are comfortable cruising at 80 to 90kmph, good pillion comfort, a relaxed riding posture, reliability, and performance. I don’t need many features. Please suggest suitable options.
Considering your needs, bikes like the Hero Xpulse 210 and the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 will fit the bill nicely. The Hero Xpulse 210 will feel more spacious and have better suspension comfort and fuel economy than the two machines. The Hunter 350 is a friendly standard neo-retro machine that can cruise comfortably on the highway with good comfort and decent performance. You can even take a look at the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Batallion Black base variant, which will give you great comfort for two-up riding, and it will have enough highway performance for your needs.Take a test ride of all three before you go ahead with your purchase.
