Hi Autocar India Team, I would like to hear your suggestions for a new bike. I currently ride a 2012 Hero Splendor Plus, but it no longer suits my requirements. I ride about 100 km per day, of which 80 km is on the highway and the remaining 20 km is within the city. I am looking for a bike that offers a good balance of power and fuel efficiency, as it will be my daily commuter. It should also have a comfortable suspension so that I don't feel tired at the end of the day. I am 182 cm tall and well-built. Which bike would you recommend?

Since you have a long daily run, predominantly on the highway, we'd recommend you step up to something more powerful. Specifically, the Hero Xpulse 210 will be a good fit for your needs. It has great suspension, which will isolate you from the worst of our road imperfections; good performance on the highway and when ridden sensibly, it will also give you decent fuel economy. If you want to stick with a street-biased commuter, look at the Honda Unicorn and Bajaj Pulsar N160. These will feel more natural for you to ride and will return good fuel economy, although highway performance will be weaker than the Xpulse. The Pulsar N250 is also a good machine which would make sense for your use case.Take test rides of these bikes before you make your decision.

I am planning to buy an adventure motorcycle that offers excellent long-term reliability, durability and good fuel efficiency. Most of my riding will be on roads, with occasional off-roading, and I also want it to be comfortable for long-distance touring. My maximum budget is Rs. 2.5 lakh, although I'd prefer to stay close to Rs. 2 lakh. I have been considering the Hero Xpulse 210 and the TVS Apache RTX 300, but I'm confused. I'm also concerned about the changing fuel policies. Current bikes are only E20 compatible, and I intend to keep the motorcycle for at least eight years. Should I buy now or wait for a flex-fuel motorcycle, even though there aren't any adventure bikes in that category yet?

The TVS Apache RTX 300 is a much more well-rounded machine than the Hero Xpulse 210. It is faster, more capable at highway speeds, and its handling is very nice when you encounter twisty roads. However, the Xpulse is lighter and will be friendlier for newer riders, especially when riding off-road. Before picking between the two, we'd recommend a thorough test ride of both, and if you want to cap your budget at Rs 2 lakh, then the Xpulse will be your only option because all variants of the RTX are just under or above that mark.

I want to buy a bike within a budget of ₹2 lakh on-road. I will mainly use it for daily commuting in Mumbai, with a daily running of around 50 km, so decent mileage is important. The bike should also be comfortable for long rides, especially for the pillion. Can you suggest the best possible bike in this price range?

Look at bikes like the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Bajaj Pulsar N160, Honda Unicorn or Honda SP160 for your usage. They are reliable, comfortable, fuel efficient and low maintenance machines that should fit well within your budget. If you want a more premium product, then options like the TVS Ronin and RE Hunter 350 are to be considered. And if you're open to considering a dual purpose bike, the Hero Xpulse 210 is a fantastic option for commuting with its peppy engine, long travel suspension and flat, comfortable seat. First, decide what sort of bike would fit your usage best, take exhaustive test rides of each and then make your decision.

I have been riding a scooty for the past 9-10 years, and I am now thinking of purchasing a bike, but I don’t know how to ride one yet. I travel about 20 km daily to the office and occasionally go on long rides with my friends. I am 22 years old, 6′2″ tall, and weigh 55 kg. My budget is ₹1.5–2 lakh. I am thinking of the RE Hunter but I am worried whether it will suit me, considering my height, so my second choice is the Xpulse 210. My mother is urging me to buy the TVS SP 125 for its high mileage, and a colleague advised me to buy the Ather Chetak. I am very confused 😵 and hope you can help me sort things out. Thank you!

Since you aren't familiar with the clutch/gear shift coordination that a motorcycle will demand. We would recommend you first learn these basics under the guidance of a professional or a trusted relative/friend. The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 may seem like a small machine, but it can comfortably accommodate larger riders without a hassle. Coming to the Xpulse 210, this is a lighter and taller machine than the Hunter and will also have a very different riding experience. The Honda SP125 will undoubtedly give you excellent fuel economy, but it can't compete with the Hunter and Xpulse in terms of performance or road presence. We'd recommend a test ride of all three before you make your purchase, as that will help you make an informed decision. However, if you think that riding a motorcycle is too complicated, and you want to stick with a scooter. It makes sense to go with proven options in the ICE and EV segments like TVS Jupiter, Honda Activa, Suzuki Access and TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Ather Rizta and Vida VX2, respectively.

I am looking for a good-looking, rough and tough bike, mostly with an adventure look, that offers the best mileage, good torque, and a long seat for family usage too, mainly for city riding, under ₹2 lakh.

In your budget, you will be able to get both the Hero Xpulse 200 4V and the newer Xpulse 210. In our experience, the 210 is a more modern and capable machine than the 200, with much better road manners, which will be helpful for your usage, which is mostly in the city.Take a test ride of both to see which bike you prefer.
