The Honda Dio 110 is a scooter designed for daily city commuting. It is powered by a 109.51cc, fan-cooled, single-cylinder engine paired with an automatic transmission, producing 7.64hp at 8,000rpm and 9.03Nm. The range includes two variants, STD and DLX, with differences in lighting, instrument display, charging equipment and wheel type. Both get telescopic front suspension, a unit-swing rear suspension, drum brakes at both ends and a side-stand engine cut-off feature.

The Dio 110's main strengths are its manageable size, convenience features and fuel efficiency. Its idling stop system switches off the engine during brief stops, while the ACG starter enables quieter starts. We found a reported real-world mileage figure of 48.3kpl, although actual efficiency will vary with traffic, riding style and maintenance. The DLX adds a colour TFT instrument display, LED headlamp and USB Type-C charging port, while the STD uses a simpler display and halogen headlamp. Both variants use drum brakes at the front and rear. Neither variant comes with ABS.

Who should buy the Honda Dio?

The Honda Dio 110 is best suited to buyers who want an easy-to-use scooter for everyday travel, with the following strengths and limitations.

Buyer type

Why it fits

City Commuter

At 106kg kerb weight and with a 765mm seat height, the Dio 110 is manageable in traffic and during low-speed manoeuvres. Its telescopic front suspension and 12-inch front wheel are useful on uneven urban roads.

Mileage Buyer

The 109.51cc engine and idling stop system support economical everyday riding. Our reference figures show real-world mileage of around 48.3kpl, although the result depends on riding conditions.

First-Time Buyer

The automatic transmission, 106kg kerb weight and 765mm seat height make the Dio 110 approachable for riders learning to manage a scooter in everyday traffic.

Value-for-Money Buyer

The STD variant keeps the price lower by using a halogen headlamp and a simpler instrument display. It retains the same engine and basic mechanical package as the DLX.

Tech Buyer

The DLX gets a colour TFT display, LED headlamp and USB Type-C charging port. The STD has a simpler display, a halogen headlamp and no standard USB charging port, although an optional charging accessory is available.

The Dio 110 is less suited to buyers seeking strong acceleration for highway use, sporty handling at higher speeds or advanced braking equipment. Its small-displacement engine is aimed at everyday commuting, and neither variant gets ABS.

  • The DLX adds a colour TFT display, LED headlamp, USB Type-C charging port and alloy wheels over the STD.
  • EMIs for the STD start from Rs. 1,126 a month, depending on the loan amount, interest rate and tenure.

I’m 5'4" tall and an extremely skinny person. I want to replace my 2015 Honda Dio with something more powerful and fun to ride. My daily office commute is around 20 km, with occasional short weekend rides. I really like the Ather 450 series, but it’s a bit of a stretch for me due to the battery warranty and Pro Pack cost. I also liked the new Ntorq 150. Is it worth spending extra for the Ather in my case? Should I consider any other scooters?

Considering that you come from a Honda Dio and are looking at sporty scooter options, we'll recommend only those that fit within this box. The Ather 450X is a superb offering, even all these years later, and if you do want an Ather 450 but can't quite digest the 450X's high price, it's worth taking a look at the Ather 450S because it packs in very similar performance, features, and range at a significantly lower price. That's about the only sporty electric scooter we would recommend currently. In the petrol scooter space, the TVS Ntorq 150 is a great option that is also well-priced. Another option you could also consider is the Aprilia SR 175, which is a more focused sporty scooter but is less practical and also has a rather limited dealer reach, so do bear that in mind.
