After releasing a few teasers on its social media handle, Honda has launched the Dio 125 in India, with prices ranging between Rs 83,400-Rs 91,300 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

    Honda Dio 125 engine, underpinnings

Powering the Dio 125 is the same engine that's found in the Grazia and Activa 125, and while the press release doesn’t claim any output figures, the larger Dio shouldn’t stray too far from the 8.3hp/10.4Nm output figures of the other two. Suspending the underbone frame is a familiar telescopic fork/monoshock set-up and the Dio 125 has a generous 171mm of ground clearance on offer.

The Dio 125, much like almost every other 125cc scooter in the country, comes with a front disc brake and a rear drum brake, but the former has a ‘wavy’ pattern and isn’t a conventionally shaped round unit. Like all other Honda scooters on sale today, the Dio 125 rides on a 12-inch/10-inch (Front/Rear) wheel setup and both are alloys.

    Honda Dio 125 features

The Dio 125 is a feature-packed scooter with niceties such as a start/stop system, a silent starter, a digital dash and an LED headlight. Of course, scooters are used more as daily runabouts than anything else and, as such, the Dio 125 also gets convenience-enhancing features such as a dual-function switch to open the 18-litre underseat boot and the external fuel filler cap.

One ace the Dio 125 has up its sleeve is that it can be had with a monumental 10-year warranty. The warranty for the first 3 years comes standard and can be extended by another 7 years, if the customer so desires.

The Smart variant adds to that with the presence of a key fob. To read in detail about what this variant gets, click here.

    Honda Dio 125 price, rivals

The Honda Dio 125 is priced at Rs 83,400 for the standard variant, while for the Smart variant you’ll have to shell out Rs 91,300. Its rivals include other Japanese 125cc scooters such as the Suzuki Avenis (Rs 87,800 – Rs 92,300) and the Yamaha RayZR 125 Fi-Hybrid (Rs 84,230 – Rs 91,330). At this price, the Dio 125 undercuts its Japanese competitors, while coming standard with a disc brake.

All prices mentioned here are ex-showroom, Delhi.
