While Honda had filed a design patent for the Scoopy scooter in India a few years ago, the company has now filed a patent for the updated model.

  1. Honda Scoopy gets same engine as Activa and Dio
  2. Has features such as an LCD dash and keyless ignition

Honda Scoopy is currently sold in Indonesia and Philippines

Scoopy has a quirky design that features a round LED headlight and tail-light.

The Scoopy was first patented in India in 2022. Honda has now patented the 2025 iteration of the Scoopy, which gets a refreshed front design with a round LED headlight and DRL. The round theme continues at the rear too, with the tail-lamp mimicking the front.

The Scoopy now gets a full-LCD instrument cluster with an eco indicator, fuel consumption, service indicator and even battery voltage meter for the top-spec keyless ignition variant.

Overseas, the Scoopy is powered by a 109.5cc, air-cooled engine that produces 9hp and 9.2Nm and is paired to a CVT transmission. However, the torque rating for the 2025 iteration has gone down by 0.3Nm.

This is the same engine that does duty in the smaller Dio and Activa models sold in India; however, in South East Asian markets like Indonesia and Philippines, where it's sold as the Scoopy, its state of tune and peak output are different. Another model sold overseas but patented in India and powered by this same engine is the Beat.

Honda has patented most of its global products in India solely for IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) purposes and they are unlikely to see the light of day in our market. The Japanese marque has patented the NPF125, CB190TR, CG160 and a whole bunch of other international products earlier too. These patents are filed in the interest of safeguarding the product’s name and design, and as such, it is unlikely that the Scoopy will be launched in India.
