Hero MotoCorp Xtreme 125R Expert Review
8.0
Xtreme 125R has sharp bodywork, muscular fuel tank, split seat and aggressive LED headlamp give it the look of a much larger motorcycle. The fit and finish are good, with neatly finished body panels and quality paint. While some switchgear and plastic parts are not class-leading, the overall quality feels solid and well put together for its price.
8.0
The Xtreme 125R offers a comfortable and upright riding position that makes it suitable for daily commuting. The handlebar, seat and footpeg position strike a good balance between comfort and sportiness. The seat provides adequate support for both the rider and pillion, while the suspension absorbs most road imperfections well. Although the rear suspension feels slightly firm over sharper bumps, overall ride comfort remains good for everyday use.
8.0
The 124.7cc engine delivers smooth and responsive performance, especially in city conditions. It has a strong low- and mid-range, making overtaking and riding through traffic easy without frequent gear shifts. The engine feels refined and offers enough performance for occasional highway rides as well. While it is not the fastest motorcycle in the segment, it provides a good balance of performance and efficiency. Fuel economy is another strong point, making the Xtreme 125R an economical choice for daily use.
8.0
The Xtreme 125R feels light, agile and easy to ride. Its well-balanced chassis allows quick direction changes while maintaining stability through corners. The suspension provides a comfortable ride on most road surfaces, and the motorcycle remains confidence-inspiring even when ridden enthusiastically. Braking performance is strong, with the front disc offering good stopping power and feel.
9.0
The motorcycle comes equipped with full-LED lighting, a digital LCD instrument cluster and a side-stand engine cut-off function. It also offers single-channel ABS, a feature rarely seen in the 125cc segment, which improves braking confidence and safety. The instrument cluster is simple and easy to read, though it lacks some advanced connectivity features offered by a few rivals.
8.0
The Xtreme 125R delivers a mix of sporty styling, comfortable ergonomics, refined performance and confident handling at an attractive price. While it could have offered more features and slightly better rear suspension comfort, these are minor drawbacks. Overall, it stands out as one of the most well-rounded motorcycles in the 125cc segment, offering strong value for riders looking for a stylish, practical and enjoyable everyday commuter.

Hero MotoCorp Xtreme 125R FAQs
The split-seat on Hero Xtreme 125R has a steep step between the rider and pillion sections. Because of this, shorter passengers or older family members may find it difficult to get on or feel seated a bit too high. For family use, the ABS Single Seat variant is highly recommended.
The Hero Xtreme 125R’s LED headlamp provides a decent, well-spread low beam for city commuting, but it lacks sufficient intensity and reach for high-speed, unlit roads.
The Hero Xtreme 125R has an impressive ground clearance of 180 mm. And combined with its 7-step adjustable rear monoshock suspension, it can mostly clear large speed breakers and deep potholes easily.
The bike utilizes a standard sport-bike gear shifting sequence. The pattern is 1-down, 4-up via a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The angular rearview mirrors perfectly complement the streetfighter styling, but they offer a slightly limited field of view.
Questions you may find useful
Hi AC team, I am currently 17 years old and will turn 18 in April 2026. After April, I want to buy a new bike for myself. I have enquired about the Honda CB125 Hornet, Yamaha MT-15, NS160, and Hero Xtreme 125R. My first priority was Honda because I am currently riding my dad’s 2012 Honda Shine 125 (Optimax), and I also have a Yamaha FZ-S. I am 5′7″ tall and weigh 60 kg. My maximum budget will be ₹1.2–1.5 lakh. Please suggest a bike for everyday college riding with friends and weekend highway rides.
The Honda CB125 Hornet makes a good case for itself as your first bike with its lightweight, frugal engine and flashy style. You should also take a look at the Hero Xtreme 125R and TVS Raider because there are some areas where these bikes have an upper hand on the Honda. Bigger bikes like the Bajaj Pulsar NS160 and Yamaha MT-15 will offer you more performance, albeit at the cost of fuel efficiency. They will also be a little heavier, but it won't be a big difference. A test ride and a clear expectation of what you want from the bike will help you decide which bike is best for you.
I’m 30 years old, and a year ago I had a lumbar microdiscectomy at L5-S1. I’m a physiotherapist and ride at least 30 km a day for work. I now want to buy a bike under Rs 1.2 lakh that offers the best fuel efficiency for daily riding. I weigh 58 kg and am 5 ft 3 in tall, and I’d prefer a bike with monoshock hydraulic rear suspension. Which bike would suit me best in West Bengal?
Given your requirements, we'd recommend choosing between the TVS Raider, Bajaj Pulsar 125 and Hero Xtreme 125R. These bikes have very fuel-efficient engines, as well as comfortable ergonomics and good suspension setups, which should help them suit your needs very well. Take test rides of all three before you make your decision to ensure you make an informed one.
I am a new learner and am planning to buy a two-wheeler in Pune. With so many options available, I am quite confused. I want something that is not too heavy and is smooth to ride, as I will be commuting 30-40 km every day. I also want a reliable engine that does not require frequent maintenance or servicing, as I plan to keep the vehicle for as long as possible. I am 5ft 7in, so it should also be suitable for my height. I would prefer an ethanol-compatible petrol two-wheeler that will not give me trouble. Which bike or scooter would be suitable for me?
You haven't specified whether or not you want a geared motorcycle or a CVT scooter, so we'll suggest reputable options from both brackets. If you are looking to get your first bike as a tool to learn how to operate the clutch and gears, then you should consider the Honda Shine 125 / SP125 / CB125 Hornet, TVS Raider, Hero Super Splendor / Xtreme 125R. These are all well-priced, smooth, fuel-efficient and comfortable machines which should last you a long time and keep you comfortable over your 40km commute. If a scooter is what you prefer, then pick from reputed options like the Honda Activa 110 / 125, TVS Jupiter 110 / 125, Suzuki Access and Yamaha Fascino / RayZR.You should choose based on two things: first, which bike/scooter you gel with most on your test ride and whichever one has a service centre not too far from your residence / office for hassle-free ownership in the long run.
Hi, I would like your suggestion on a good bike for my needs. I am 40 years old, 5'9" tall, weigh 115 kg, and have a family. My daily commute is 72 km. The road conditions are around 6 out of 10, considering potholes and speed breakers. Traffic is above average; if I were to rate it on a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is the least and 10 is the highest, I would rate it 7. I am open to both ICE and electric bikes. I would also prefer a bike that offers good fuel efficiency.
Given your long daily run with lots of traffic and bad roads, a simple commuter would be the best fit for your usage. In the 125cc segment, look at options like the TVS Raider, Honda Shine / SP125 and Hero Super Splendor/Xtreme, depending on your design preferences. In the 160cc class, options like Honda Unicorn / SP160, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and Bajaj Pulsar N160 are our top picks. Depending on your budget and fuel economy requirements, pick between the class of bikes that best suit your needs.
