Hi team, I am confused between the XUV 3XO and the Nexon. This is my first car purchase, and my budget is ₹15 lakh. I promised my child that I would buy a car with a panoramic sunroof this year, ideally by March. Please advise which one I should choose in terms of overall safety, mileage, budget, and especially the sunroof.

You can consider the Tata Nexon Fearless Plus, which comes with a panoramic sunroof, blind spot monitor, 360-degree camera, automatic AC, and many desirable features. Nexon scores higher on crash test ratings and has better real-world mileage than the Mahindra XUV 3XO.
If you want to purchase a vehicle by March 2026, it will be a good idea to take advantage of the December discounts and book your vehicle this month.

Please suggest a reliable, safe, automatic mid-size SUV with the following requirements. Budget: ₹15-16 lakh on-road Running: Around 1,000 km per month, with 70% city and 30% highway use.

With your kind of driving, it would be better to opt for a diesel car. This will help you keep fuel costs in check. In the budget you have mentioned, a Diesel and Automatic combination is difficult to find in the midsize SUV segment.
Instead, you can opt for the Tata Nexon Diesel AMT. It is a good choice for your budget. Nexon diesel with AMT delivered 18 kmpl mileage in our real-world mileage test.
Yes, Tata Motors is not particularly known for reliability, but the Nexon has been in the market for a long and some of the earlier issues have been resolved. Tata Motors is also trying to change the perception of its reliability, and hopefully, customers will see the difference soon. Given that most of your driving is in the city, do remember to take the car out for a longer drive occasionally so the DPF can regenerate properly.

I am a first-time car buyer, 61 years old, and I want a tall car so I don’t have to slouch. I have knee and lower back issues, and want my first car to be a Tata. My budget can vary or be modified according to my comfort needs.

Tata Motors has a wide range of crossover and SUV options that you could consider depending on your budget. However, since you are a first-time car buyer, we would advise you against the Tata Sierra and Harrier, which are quite large and might seem intimidating to drive.
The Tata Punch is a good starting point and worth a look, but we feel the Nexon is the best pick for your requirements. It sits at a comfortable height, so you won't need to slouch down to enter it, and the vehicle itself is of a comfortable size - roomy enough to accommodate four adults with ease yet small enough to be convenient to drive.
We'd suggest you opt for an automatic transmission version that will help remove the bother of modulating the clutch pedal. If your budget allows, the smooth dual-clutch automatic version is the one to buy.

I am looking for an automatic car within a budget of ₹10-12 Lakhs for a 10-year ownership period. My daily commute is 20–30 km, primarily in heavy city traffic. I value reliability, but also want a bit of performance. Given my city usage and long-term plans, should I opt for the smoothness and longevity of a Naturally Aspirated (NA) engine with a CVT/IVT (Amaze/i20), or would a Turbo-petrol with a Torque Converter (TC) (Kylaq or Brezza) be better? Also, can Nexon (AMT) fit in my requirements?

Unfortunately, the compact SUVs you've listed - Skoda Kylaq, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and Tata Nexon - will only fit in your budget in a low- to mid-spec variant, which will deprive you of some crucial features. We would instead recommend the Hyundai i20, which gives you not one but two petrol-automatic options, and is a great all-round premium hatchback which you can get in near-top-spec guise in your budget.
It's fine to have a bit of performance with reliability, and if so, you should check out the 1.0 turbo-petrol N-Line variants of the i20. But if you prefer the smoothness of a CVT, there is the lower-powered 1.2 NA petrol too.
Alternatively, check out the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger, which offer the best of both worlds - turbo-petrol and CVT - well within your budget.

I’m planning to upgrade my 2016 Baleno Sigma (petrol MT) to a petrol automatic. I’m looking for a safe, family-friendly car with ADAS/adaptive cruise, good mileage, and modern safety features. My usage is 70% city and 30% highway. Since I already own a Maruti, I’m exploring other brands for a family of 5 (older parents + kid). My budget is under ₹15 lakh, and I’m deciding between an SUV and a sedan. A few options checked were Honda Elevate, Kushaq, Slavia, Creta, Astor, Punch, etc.

Unfortunately, not many cars will fit all your requirements in a budget of Rs 15 lakh. Most notably, ADAS with adaptive cruise control, which is usually reserved for higher variants of cars in higher segments. The cars that do offer it within your budget, however, are the Honda Amaze, Kia Sonet and Tata Nexon.
Of these three, we would recommend the Tata Nexon, as it is the most spacious and comfortable, and best suited for travelling with 5 on board. Its mileage is not the best, but it does have all the features you would want and has scored a 5-star crash test rating from both Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP. If you don't mind foregoing ADAS, however, there are far more options that open up.

My monthly running is about 200 km in the city, and once or twice a year I take a long trip. I am looking for a petrol car, but I live in Hyderabad where we experience water clogging during the rainy season, so I am not confident with a car that has only 170 mm of ground clearance. Can you please advise? My budget is ₹12 lakh.

Given your concern for good ground clearance and budget, the Tata Nexon petrol is the best fit. It has a ground clearance of 209mm, among the highest in the compact SUV segment and some amount of underbody protection and a tough suspension. It makes it suitable for waterlogging and bad roads in the monsoons.

The Nexon 1.2 turbo petrol is well-suited for your 200 km per month city use, occasional long trips and concern about waterlogging. Several petrol variants fall within the 12-lakh on-road budget you have, and there are discounts available too.

I currently own a Tata Nexon XZ+ petrol manual. My daily run is about 20km. Additionally, I travel around 350km fortnightly to my parents' place. After the introduction of E20 fuel, mileage has dropped from 13-14 kmpl to 10-11 kmpl. I am planning to upgrade to a hybrid. Based on my running, could you suggest the best options below 20 lakh?

We would suggest opting for the Maruti Suzuki Victoris ZXi variant, as it falls just under Rs 20 lakh on road in Vadodara, where you are based. The Victoris is very well priced, and even though the ZXi is a mid-spec variant, it comes well-equipped with all the essential features.
More importantly, in terms of Victoris' mileage, you can expect over 20 kpl not just in the city but on the highway as well, which is almost double what you are currently getting with your Tata Nexon.
Do note that this Maruti car does not come with a spare wheel as standard and instead gets a puncture repair kit, with a space saver spare available as an optional extra. The boot space is also slightly compromised due to the hybrid battery mounted under the boot floor.

I have shortlisted two cars: Nissan Tekton top-variant DCT with ADAS, and Tata Nexon next-generation “Project Garud,” due for release in the second half of 2026. My requirements in a car includes 360° camera with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay wireless connectivity, higher ground clearance, level 2 ADAS, auto rain-sensing wipers, Aerotwin (frameless) wipers, electrically adjustable and ventilated seats, and a panoramic sunroof. Please guide me on which car to choose.

The next-gen Tata Nexon is still on the drawing board and is unlikely to be launched in 2026. At best, the Nexon could see some refreshes next year. The Nissan Tekton is due in Feb 2026, and it is worth waiting. But it is unlikely to come with a DCT and will instead get a torque converter (AT) automatic, which, in our view, is more suitable for Indian conditions.

We are not sure about the list of features for the Tekton, but it is likely to be well-equipped and will include most of the features on your list.

I used a Honda City until November 2025, but sold it due to low ride comfort. I am now looking for a compact SUV around ₹17 lakh with a 4 or 5-star safety rating, ADAS level 1 or 2, and most importantly, good ride comfort.

We recommend that you consider and take a test drive of the Tata Nexon. It meets your requirements for a compact SUV with ADAS and a strong safety rating. The Nexon has secured a 5-star rating under both GNCAP and BNCAP protocols and offers an ADAS level 2 system. Like most Tata Motors products, it also delivers good ride quality.

My running is about 1,000 km per month, and I mostly work in villages in Rajasthan. Which car should I consider?

Since your monthly driving is around 1000km, it will be better if you go for a diesel car. If you prefer a manual gearbox, the Tata Nexon diesel is a good option for its good ride quality. But if you want an automatic, you can consider the Hyundai Venue diesel AT.

The ride quality of the 2025 Venue has been improved significantly, and now it gives a good ride quality on Indian roads.

The Nexon’s automatic option is an AMT, which has noticeable gearshift jerks and can become tiring on long drives.
In the smaller segment, the Tata Punch manual or the Hyundai Exter AMT are good alternatives.

Exter’s AMT is one of the smoothest AMTs in the market.
