Tata Tiago XTA launched at Rs 5.99 lakh

The Tata Tiago AMT is now available in a new XTA trim level, priced at Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new variant, positioned below the existing XZA, brings down the starting price for the Tiago AMT by Rs 47,000.

    • Tata Tiago XT variant now available with a 5-speed AMT gearbox option
    • Tiago XTA priced about Rs 50,000 more than the petrol-manual XT
    • Tiago line-up could get CNG powered variants in the coming months

Tata Tiago XTA: What do you get in this mid-spec variant?

At Rs 5.99 lakh, the Tiago XTA costs Rs 50,000 more than the regular Tiago XT, though both variants have an identical equipment list. As with the XT, the XTA gets you kit such as dual airbags, ABS, day-night rear-view mirror, rear parking sensors with a display, Harman-sourced audio system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity, steering-mounted controls, manual AC, LED digital instrument readout, front and rear power windows and remote locking, among others.

Compared to the higher-spec XZA, the XTA misses out on a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a rear wiper and defogger, fog lamps, power folding wing mirrors and a height adjustable driver seat.

The only real difference between the XT and the XTA is the gearbox – the 86hp, 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine is paired to a 5-speed AMT unit in the XTA.

    Tata Tiago AMT rivals

In terms of its competition, the Tata Tiago AMT (Rs 5.99-6.84 lakh)* goes up against the AMT variants of  Maruti Suzuki Celerio (Rs 5.42-5.70 lakh)* and Wagon R (1.0L: Rs 5.48-5.55 lakh; 1.2L: Rs 5.83-6.18 lakh)* and the Hyundai Santro (Rs 5.63-6.35 lakh)*. Another rival to the Tata hatchback is the Datsun Go (Rs 6.31-6.51 lakh)* which has the distinction of being the only CVT gearbox-equipped model in the segment.
