You can also consider a Honda Elevate V CVT, which will be very easy to maintain and is fun to drive.With your Rs 6 lakh budget, though, you will only be able to get entry-level variants of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios or mid variants of a Maruti Celerio and Tata Tiago. We would recommend the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R 1.2 AMT for you. Its elevated seating and large windows give a great view out and will put you at immediate ease. The Wagon R is also easy to drive thanks to its light steering and small turning circle. The Wagon R with the larger 1.2-litre engine also has sufficient pep for the city, while the AMT auto brings in convenience. The AMT is smooth enough, but you will feel a lag and pause in shifts if you drive with enthusiasm.Do note, the Wagon R isn't the ideal highway vehicle. It doesn't feel quite as surefooted as a lower-riding vehicle would. As an alternative, you could consider the Tata Tiago AMT XT.

We would recommend you look at the Maruti Suzuki Celerio. Refinement from the 1.0 litre engine is much better than you would expect from a three-cylinder engine, and minimal vibrations filter into the cabin. The overall performance is smooth and easy for normal everyday driving, and at low city speeds, it even feels a bit eager, and it is thus quite enjoyable to drive. In terms of safety, the car is well equipped with safety features like 6 airbags, anti-locking brakes (ABS) and electronic stability program (ESP). It also scored a three-star crash safety rating in the GNCAP test. You can get cars with a better crash rating, like the Tata Tiago, for instance, but you will not find the engine as smooth.

The Maruti Suzuki Celerio is a larger and heavier car, and correspondingly feels more confident on the highway than a Maruti Suzuki Alto K10. The Celerio will have a slight advantage in NVH, too, and will feel more stable during cornering. Both are city cars, though, and not ideal for highway drives. Within the same budget, you could also consider the Tata Tiago in XE trim, which feels tougher in its build and drives with more heft than the Maruti Suzuki options.
