Kia Carens prices hiked by up to Rs 70,000

    Carens 1.4 petrol has the lowest waiting period, while the 1.5-petrol variants have the highest.

    It has only been a few short months since the Kia Carens was launched in India, but the MPV has garnered plenty of demand. So much so, that the waiting periods for the Carens have crossed the five-month mark for select variants.

    Phasing out the introductory pricing, Kia has increased the prices of the MPV’s entire range. Dealer sources also tell us that waiting period for the Carens base variant is as high as ten months at some locations.

    As seen in the table above, Kia hasn’t uniformly hiked the prices of all Carens variants. While costs for some trims have only gone up by Rs 20,000 (1.4P Premium and Prestige+ AT), some others are seeing an increase of around Rs 70,000 (1.5P Prestige and 1.5D Luxury+ 7S AT) over their introductory launch price.

    The rest of the trims slot in somewhere between the above-mentioned prices. It is likely that Kia has also kept various hikes seeing the demand for each variant and the availability for it.

    2022 Kia Carens: powertrains and trim levels

    Powering the Carens is a choice of two petrol and one diesel engine options. The petrols include a 115hp 1.5-litre naturally aspirated unit and a more powerful 140hp 1.4-litre turbocharged unit. While the diesel engine is a 115hp 1.5-litre mill.

    A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard fit on all three engines with the turbo-petrol and diesel also getting the option of an automatic – 7-speed DCT and a 6-speed torque converter, respectively. 

    Kia offers the Carens in a five trim levels – Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury and Luxury Plus. All variants get basics such as AC vents for all three rows and a one-touch electric-assisted tumble function for the second row seat as standard. Though, the top-spec trim gets features like 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car tech, keyless go, cruise control, auto climate control, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging and rear-view camera.
