I am using a Ford Echo sports car at present and planning to buy a new car very soon. I am bit confused for my new car to buy between Toyota hyryder, new Nissan tekton and creta. Basically I need a good car for long highway drive and for city drive also with fuel efficient and good boot space. Kindly suggest.

autocar.india
Pick the Hyundai Creta diesel. For your mix of long highway runs and city duty, it gives the most complete package right now - a strong diesel engine for easy cruising on the highway, light controls for city driving, good mileage, and a big boot that fits in more than the Hyryder strong-hybrid. On the highway, the diesel’s easy torque makes overtaking simple and relaxed, and it rides comfortably too. In the city, the light steering and the torque converter automatic work smoothly, so it never feels tiring to drive. The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is the best for city use if you choose the strong-hybrid, but you get less boot space, and it feels a bit strained when loaded at highway speeds. The Nissan Tekton looks promising, but it is new, and Nissan’s network and resale are still not as wide as Hyundai’s, so I’d wait to see how it settles.Coming from an EcoSport, you’ll miss the driving dynamics, but you’ll gain space, comfort and tech.

Hi, I had booked my Seltos on the 12th of April. They said 9weeks, but it's yet to be delivered. Then on the 2nd of July, the dealership pings me and says the cost of my HTK (O) will rise by around 35k. I am also unable to take the delivery of the car due to health reasons for the next 2 months. I am thinking of cancelling this booking and then maybe looking at the car again around Diwali, when there might be discounts on it, or in the meantime, the elevate / tekton will also launch, so it might be worth looking at that also? Or should I speak to my dealer to hold the car for 2 months? The price rise isn't much, but the whole Kia experience so far has left a bad taste in the mouth.

autocar.india
The biggest reason isn't the Rs 35,000 price increase, but the fact that you won't be able to take delivery for another two months and that your experience with the dealership has already left a bad impression. Buying a new car should be an exciting experience, and if the ownership journey has started on the wrong note, there's little reason to rush into it.By the time you're ready to buy again, you'll have more options to consider. The Honda Elevate facelift is expected to arrive soon, while the recently launched Nissan Tekton also looks promising. Diwali is traditionally a period when manufacturers and dealers offer attractive discounts and schemes, so you may be able to offset some or even all of the recent price increase.

I have pre-booked for Duster Hybrid, Nissan Tekton Hybrid and lastly Tata Sierra EV. Which one should I go for? My preference is to go for the earliest available one.

autocar.india
The Tata Sierra EV has already been launched, while the Renault Duster Hybrid and Nissan Tekton are still some time away. The Duster Hybrid is expected to offer an excellent balance of performance, efficiency and practicality, but you'll have to wait longer for it.The choice really comes down to whether you're ready to make the switch to an EV. If you have access to reliable home charging and your driving pattern suits an EV, the Sierra EV is a very compelling option. It offers a spacious cabin, a premium interior, and a large battery pack, and should make for an excellent family SUV.Verdict: Since you've mentioned that you prefer to buy the earliest available car, we'd recommend going ahead with the Tata Sierra EV. It is already on sale, and if an EV fits your usage pattern, there's little reason to wait for the Duster Hybrid.

Hello, I am currently driving a Ford Figo 1.5 TDCi Diesel and have covered almost 1.5 lakh km with it. The car has been extremely reliable, and I still enjoy its excellent ride quality, handling, punchy engine, and fuel efficiency. I am now exploring an upgrade, but so far I haven't found many options that offer the same balance of driving pleasure, comfort, and efficiency. I have test-driven most of the diesel automatic options currently available in the market, and the only one that impressed me was the Mahindra XUV 7XO. Lately, I have also started considering strong hybrid vehicles. The Renault Duster and its upcoming sibling, the Nissan Tekton, have caught my attention, and I am willing to wait for them. My requirements are: - Budget: Rs. 25–28 lakh - 5-seater preferred - Open to both SUVs and sedans - Good ride and handling - Strong performance - Excellent fuel efficiency - Can wait 6–8 months for upcoming launches Based on these requirements, what would you recommend? Are there any upcoming launches that I should specifically keep an eye on?

autocar.india
Pick the Mahindra XUV 7XO diesel automatic. The steering still feels natural, the ride stays calm at speed, and the 2.2 diesel has effortless shove for quick highway passes while returning impressive mileage. Sure, being much larger in size, it might not feel as agile or as convenient to drive as your Figo, but that's something you will have to get used to.Alternatively, you could consider the Honda City hybrid too. It is a very efficient sedan which recently got a mid-life makeover and some new features. Yes, the City is expensive, but it is the only hybrid sedan on this side of Rs 30 lakh.If you're not in a hurry to buy, the strong-hybrid versions of the Renault Duster and Nissan Tekton could be worth waiting for.

Hi, I have been following Autocar’s Q&A section closely and find it very insightful. I am currently exploring options for my next car, although I do not plan to purchase 2027. The new Renault Duster (2026), especially the 1.3 Turbo variant, has really caught my attention, and I am keen to take a test drive. My primary usage will be city driving, with occasional long-distance trips. Since this will be my first new car purchase, there is also an emotional aspect attached to it. I really like the interiors of the Kia Seltos, although I am not a fan of its exterior design. I was also excited about the Tata Sierra, but I was somewhat disappointed after seeing it in person. The Tata Curvv, particularly the petrol (Hyperion) variant, seems more appealing in comparison. Overall, the new Duster stands out to me, and I have yet to find any major drawbacks with it. On the other hand, my wife prefers the Tata Harrier for its strong road presence and overall appeal, but I am unsure if it justifies the higher cost for a small family of two (plus a dog). What would you advise in this situation? I have seen you advise the Honda Elevate to a lot of people who mention that city driving is the majority. Also, since my purchase is planned for 2027, do you expect more suitable options to be available in this segment by then?

autocar.india
By 2027, you’ll have far more options to choose from, including (but not limited to) the Nissan Tekton (a Duster-equivalent), the next-gen Hyundai Creta, Honda’s new electric SUV, and several new-generation Mahindra SUVs. Do write in when you’re in the market for a new car with your exact requirements, and we’ll help solve your car-buying conundrum.

I have shortlisted two cars: Nissan Tekton top-variant DCT with ADAS, and Tata Nexon next-generation “Project Garud,” due for release in the second half of 2026. My requirements in a car includes 360° camera with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay wireless connectivity, higher ground clearance, level 2 ADAS, auto rain-sensing wipers, Aerotwin (frameless) wipers, electrically adjustable and ventilated seats, and a panoramic sunroof. Please guide me on which car to choose.

autocar.india
The next-gen Tata Nexon is still on the drawing board and is unlikely to be launched in 2026. At best, the Nexon could see some refreshes next year. The Nissan Tekton is due in Feb 2026, and it is worth waiting. But it is unlikely to come with a DCT and will instead get a torque converter (AT) automatic, which, in our view, is more suitable for Indian conditions. We are not sure about the list of features for the Tekton, but it is likely to be well-equipped and will include most of the features on your list.

Is it worth upgrading my Nissan Terrano, or should I buy a new car?

autocar.india
The Nissan Terrano is essentially a rebadged Renault Duster, and both models are now quite old. If you are happy with the car and its performance, you can consider upgrading to a new one. However, the Renault Duster will be making a return next month, and Nissan will also have its own version, which it calls the 'Tekton'. We would recommend you wait to see those SUVs and then plan your new purchase.

When is the Nissan Tekton expected to launch in India? Will the Nissan Tekton be worth waiting for compared to existing SUVs in the same segment? Additionally, what is the estimated price range for the upcoming Nissan Tekton?

autocar.india
The new Nissan Tekton is expected to launch in India around June 2026. It will be Nissan’s version of the upcoming Renault Duster. If the old Terrano and Duster are anything to go by, this will be an exciting addition to an already fiercely competitive segment. We expect the new Nissan Tekton price to fall between ₹11 lakh and ₹19 lakh (ex-showroom).
